Vote for a Pragmatic Approach www.chriscoxforsecretarytreasurer.weebly.com Secretary Treasurer is a unique position within ACPA as one of two Nationally elected officials; It is a position of trust in which one must have a pragmatic approach and the fortitude to speak out against the accepted view if duty demands. As a nonvoting member of the MEC it is the responsibility of the Treasurer (in concert with the President) to ensure all resolutions and direction of the MEC are made adhering to the Constitution and Administrative Policies as dictated and approved by the membership at large. I am no stranger to being on the unpopular side of a decision and will ensure your voice is heard. Being a grassroots organization means giving consideration to the opinions of all its' members even if in the minority. I have always been open and honest with my colleagues and remain available to discuss any issues. I am very familiar with the policies, processes, and structure within ACPA as well as committee members and staff. I feel these traits along with my communications skill set will best help represent your needs at the MEC table. I have fully researched the position and amassed the external assistance necessary to hit the ground running as Treasurer. I am comfortable in my commitment to you as a candidate to provide you with positive results. Retrospective: A Time to Rebuild a Positive Environment While the Treasurer is generally considered an apolitical position on the MEC, the Treasurer has priviledge of addressing the MEC on specifics for consideration. It is with this in mind that my hope is to move toward a period of rebuilding your trust in ACPA as we rebuild credibility within the industry and with our employer. Creating and contributing towards a positive environment is a must. While this maybe more of a phylisophical remedy, I believe the underpinnings of our association have been compromised with the last round of negotiation/arbitration. I believe ACPA needs to hold itself accountable for the results. This is in no way a method to designate blame, but rather improve on lessons learned on a go forward basis. Further, I believe as the largest group of professional pilots in Canada we need to ensure we are held to a high standard especially our elected officials, and committe members. I strongly believe we need to police ourselves keeping things in check to maintain a steady image of professionalism we have worked so hard for. In summary, it would be an honour to represent you, our national body of pilots, ensuring we continue to administer smart fiscal policy, strategies, and improve our quality of life and compensation while delicately balancing "global" economics. I would like to express my gratitude for taking the time to review my literature.
