HEAD NURSE Job Summary - A head nurse is expected to undertake normal nursing duties when staff resources are

lacking. Typical duties in this role include monitoring patients' vital signs, administering medication and changing wound dressings. Specific Objective To further enhance preservation and retainment of nursing skills and principles through assignment, project, report and requirement. Head Nurse Job Responsibilities Takes down notes of any instructions given by the doctors for those patients that need treatment and care adjustments during round visits to them. Supervises in the acquisition of medical supplies and equipment needed for patient care. Makes sure that records of the amounts and types of medications given to individual patients are properly monitored to be able to know if they are recovering and relays report to the physician with regard to the conditions of every patient. Checks cleanliness of general hospital ward areas and patients rooms and checks if these areas are conducive to the health of the patients. Assigns and schedules activities of the nursing staff in his section.

STAFF NURSE Job Summary A staff nurse is a first level professional nurse who provides direct patient care to the patients assigned to him/her in different shifts morning, evening and night. Specific Objective - clearly specifies clinical experience and communicates career goals. Duties and Responsibilities Is responsible to admit, discharge and transfer the patients.

Has to maintain personal hygiene and comfort of the patients. Has to provide psychological support to the patients. Has to perform technical tasks e.g. preparation and administration of medications, assisting various medical procedures the patients undergoes, recording vital signs, tube feeding, giving enema, bowel wash, dressing stomach was, ECT eye and ear care, collection and sending of specimens etc. Attitude towards patients: Nurses are expected to show extreme forbearance and tack in their dealings with every patient. They should be gentle, cheerful, patience and humane in speech and action and should themselves set examples of industry, order cleanliness and obedience.
