The Statement of 2009 Annual Meeting

of
All Burma Federation of Student Unions (Foreign Affairs Committee)
(ABFSU-FAC)
(1/2009)
January 19th, 2009

The 2009 annual meeting of the All Burma Federation of Student Unions (Foreign Affairs Committee)
(ABFSU-FAC) was successfully held from January 17th to 19th 2009.
In the current political situation of Burma, because of the political paradigm of road map and 2010
election of the military regime and the discrepancies among the various political strategic and tactical processes
of democratic forces, there could be some disagreement and conflict in political opinions in our democratic
forces. Although there is some problem, our All Burma Federation of Student Unions (Foreign Affairs
Committee) annual meeting has mutually and thoroughly discussed about the current political situation and
adopted the following political attitudes.

(1) The result of the 1990 multi-party democratic election has been the result of the victory vested by the
public by their actual votes. Therefore no one can demolish it with any reason. All Burma Federation of
Student Unions (Foreign Affairs Committee) will continue to fundamentally recognize and hold the
1990 election result in ongoing national political trend.

(2) According to the history of the All Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU) in continuous
Emphasizing on the interests of the students and public, the All Burma Federation of Student Unions for
(Foreign Affairs Committee) (ABFSU-FAC) will recognize the political leading role of the National
League for Democracy (NLD) which was the result of the 1988 people movement and will harmonically
struggle in the democracy revolution to abolish the military dictatorship.

(3) In the present political trend, we clearly oppose the 2008 constitution which was drawn to prolong and
strengthen the military dictatorship and the 2010 election to animate (implement) it.

(4) For the future of our country, We have declared that we won’t accept any founding of the government,
any organizing and any political trend which can practically hurt the unity of our forces and delay the
political trend to abolish the military dictatorship.
