2. Removing
URGENT : Respect the safety and cleanliness recommendations that are specific to high pressure diesel injection (HDi) engines . CAUTION : After switching off the ignition: wait 15 minutes before disconnecting the battery, to ensure that the initialisations of the various ECUs are memorised . Disconnect the battery . Remove the engine cover .

Remove and move aside the brake fluid reservoir (1) . Remove : The air union (2) The air union (3)

Disconnect the connector (at " a ") . Raise and move aside the air filter housing (5) .

Disconnect the connector (at " c ") . Clean the unions (6), (7) ; By means of tools [2], [3] . Disconnect the unions (6), (7) . CAUTION : Plug the openings when a union is uncoupled ; Using tool [1] . Plug the fuel filter pipes ; Using tool [1] . Unclip and raise the fuel filter (at " b ") . Disconnect the connector (at " d ") . Uncouple the fuel bleed pipe . Remove the fuel filter (8) (in the direction of the arrow) . CAUTION : Open the sachet containing the fuel filter just prior to refitting . N.B. : The fuel filter cannot be dismantled . Change the fuel filter complete .
3. Refitting
CAUTION : When refitting, all the seals that have been removed must be replaced with new seals .

Insert a screwdriver at " e " . Remove the fuel heater (9) (in the direction of the arrow) . Refit the fuel heater (9) on the new fuel filter . Couple the fuel bleed pipe to the fuel filter . Connect the connector (at " d ") . Refit the fuel filter (8) . Remove the tools [1] . Couple the union (6) . Connect the connector (at " c ") . Proceed in the reverse order to removal . Connect the battery . CAUTION : Perform the operations that are necessary after a battery reconnection (see the relevant operation) .

N.B. : For the bleed operation 2 operators are necessary . Connect the female unions ( 10 mm) of the tool [5] in place of the union (7) (at " f ") .

Close the union (7) ; Using tool [6] . Clean the unions (10) ; By means of tools [2], [3] . Uncouple the fuel return unions (10) and insert the union ( 8 mm) of the tool [5] in the fuel return circuit . Action for 120 seconds the manual priming pump (4) in order to prime the fuel circuit . Remove : The tool [5] The tool [6] from the union (7) Recouple unions (7) and (10) . Action the manual priming pump (4) several times, in order to prime the fuel circuit . Action the starter and the manual priming pump until the engine starts . Run the engine at idle speed for 2 minutes .

Place the tray [4] underneath the fuel bleed pipe outlet ( Under the engine ) . Slacken the water bleed screw (at " g ") . Allow the fuel to flow into the tray . N.B. : If the fuel does not flow out ; Uncouple connection (7) . Action the manual priming pump (30) for 4 seconds, to evacuate the water contained in the fuel filter . Tighten the water bleed screw (at " g ") . Action the manual priming pump (4) several times, in order to prime the fuel circuit . Remove the tray [4] from underneath the engine . Refit the under-engine protection .
