Monday, October 15, 2012 Seward Winter Frolic: Art in the Hood Planning Meeting Minutes Attendance: Kerry

Cashman, Karen Franzmeier, Hannah Epstein, Maia Homstad, Laura Murphy, Dan Leisen I. Poster a. Posters were designed to be posted in the Ivy Building for their Art Crawl on 10/12 & 13. b. The suggestion was made to make the color portion be the backdrop for the circular part of the design to draw attention to it. c. Nearly everyone took a poster to hang in local businesses, churches, etc. Artist Registration a. Last year there were 60 artists and 30 are currently registered. Karen and Hannah offered to call the remaining 30 to be sure they are aware of the Nov. 2 deadline to be in the program. b. Kerry will check with the Ivy Building/Vine Arts to see if they will forward an email regarding artist registration. (If you have an email group (church, business, etc.) in which to forward this email, please let Kerry know. Kerry@sng.org.) Donations a. Kerry came with a list of potential donors and several members agreed to make some solicitation calls/requests before the next meeting. b. These will be for prizes for Seward Bingo (see below) Marketing/Promotion a. Publicity i. Laura has written a press release to be sent to the media this week. ii. Artist profiles will be of interest to the media please send ideas/tips/leads/photos b. Photos i. Photos are needed for media purposes, website and social media channels. ii. Photos of artwork, artists working, business owners, etc. will be helpful. Committee members were asked to send photos of their work to Kerry. c. Postcard size flyer Kerry is working on having one made. d. Email to lists of local businesses and organizations to promote the Seward Winter Frolic e. Social Media Please follow the Seward Art f. Posters see above. Seward Bingo a. Maya is finalizing the Seward Bingo game to encourage a diverse art crawl experience. b. Karen brought stamps for the businesses to use to mark the Bingo cards. c. To do: write copy and design final Bingo card, purchase ink pads, call on registered artists and businesses to be sure they want to participate and be responsible for stamping Bingo cards, etc.
