Sony Bailey, Principal, Ed.S 3140 Lake Forest Drive Augusta, GA 30909 706.737.7317 FAX# 706.737.7318 November 12, 2012 Brinker International Charitable Committee 6820 LBJ Freeway Dallas, TX 75240 Dear Committee Members, I am writing to request funding to purchase a Letters Alive Supplemental Curriculum Package from Logical Choice Technologies. As Logical Choice states, Letters alive is the first teaching and learning curriculum for the whole classroom using the ground-breaking new technology Augmented Reality. Letters alive brings a kingdom of 26 seemingly-alive digital 3D animals into your classroom with the ultimate goal of teaching your children to read at the kindergarten level. In Letters alive, Logical Choice provides a full school year of lesson plans that are aligned directly to the Common Core State Standards currently being adopted in 48 states (including Georgia). http://www.logicalchoice.com/products/lettersalive/quick-overview/ Reading is the foundation of education and many of todays technologies make reading, and reading early and well, a reality for more children than ever. Adding the Letters Alive program to my schools curriculum materials will engage our youngest learners and enhance their reading education, giving them a necessary basis for all future learning.

The Letters Alive Supplemental Curriculum Package (item #50171) is compatible with our schools existing technology and includes the necessary 3Cam doc camera. The purchase price for this package is $995. Lake Forest Hills Elementary is a public, nonprofit (#58-6000310), Pre-K 5th grade school and our media center receives only $5400 per year from the state of Georgia to fund our entire program. Half of this amount is used to purchase books while the other half must cover all other supplies and materials for our library media program. No additional funds are available to purchase supplemental materials. To my knowledge, there has been no past nor is there any current involvement of Brinker International employees with our school. The Letters alive program will be an invaluable addition to our educational collection and benefit all of our students, starting with those in prekindergarten and kindergarten. Thank you so very much for considering my request and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Respectfully,

Carol Nimmons Media Specialist Lake Forest Hills Elementary School Augusta, Georgia (706)737-7317 NimmoCa@BOE.Richmond.k12.ga.us
