SOC 101 Society and Culture with Family Planning General Education 3 Units

COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed to develop students knowledge and understanding of the culture in the Philippines and around the world. This will help them realize and appreciate our cultural heritage and the culture handed to us by our ancestors. This will introduce concepts and theories to understand society and culture. Family planning, taking into account responsible parenthood and reproductive health, will also be highlighted in this course. COURSE OBJECTIVES At the end of the term, the students should be able to: a. b. c. d. e. explain the importance of sociology; identify the characteristics of culture; characterize the forms of deviance; appreciate and value different cultures in the country; understand the dynamics and processes happening in the Philippine society;and f . understand family planning and responsible parenthood.
