Bill of Exchange
A written order signed by one person (drawer) requiring a second person (drawee) to pay on demand or at a stated date an amount of money to, or to the order of, a specified person or the bearer (payee).
Essentials of a bill
Must be in writing. Must be signed by the drawer. There must be three parties to the instrument and the parties must be certain. Must be an order not a request or promise.
Essentials of a bill
Must be for a specific amount of money It must be addressed to a specific person. The bill is payable at a certain date or on demand. Must comply with the formalities as regards date, consideration, stamp etc.
