TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

I. MICROPHONE SOLUTIONS 1. Charging: Mics need to be fully charged before use. A fully charged mic takes 2 to 3 hours. a. Always keep mics in the charging doc when not in use. b. Make sure the LUCY Capture Station is plugged in overnight before first capture of the day. c. Do not schedule two captures back to back. In the schedule, ensure you have time to charge mics for at least 2 hours between captures. 2. Re-Pair Microphones. Microphones will lose pairing when battery is drained. a. Turn off Both Microphones by pressing the Button on front of the Microphone for 10 seconds, until it turns solid red, then release. b. No light emitting from the microphone indicates that it is off. c. On the side of Lucy Camera Station, are two buttons labeled 1 and 2. d. On the Lucy Camera Station, Hold down button 1 until the light turns solid red. Let go. e. Pick up the Teacher microphone, (Labeled 1) and hold down the front button until the light turns solid green then solid red. Let Go NOTE: Lights will flash (red, yellow, green) for a few seconds and then will blink red (or green) to indicate successful pairing. f. Repeat steps d and e for Microphone #2 g. Unplug and then plug back in the audio cable on both ends h. Unmute the microphones (Press the front button once on each mic)

i. Test microphones, by blowing into the mic and see if the audio meters move on the Lucy Reflect Video software

3. Other Mic Tips a. Mics will not record audio in charging station, please remove when recording. b. It is important to keep the right set of mics with the right Lucy. Some schools have more than one camera. Do not mix mics from different Lucys. c. After removing Microphone from charging base they will flash Red after 5 10 seconds. This confirms they are muted and connected. Press and release the Mute button once and microphone lights flash green indicating they are ready to go. II. LOST CAMERA IMAGE. Sometimes a there are no camera images or only the panoramic video or board video displayed. 1. Close the Reflect Application. 2. Unplug both USB cables. Plug them both back in 3. Re-launch Reflect Application, if image is still not right- 4. Restart Computer. If image is still not right 5. Call our Help Desk III. NETWORK / PLAYBACK ISSUES 1. Reflect Video needs at least 3mb per second to play properly. If youre uncertain please run a speed test using the web site. www.speakeasy.net/speedtest for test Location, choose Los Angeles, CA 2. Make sure Enable Hardware Acceleration is turned OFF (box unchecked) in Adobe Flash Player settings. NOTE: Right click video to open flash player settings

3. Turn Off Wireless Network. If Schools have configured a wireless connection and are also using their Local Area Connection (with an Ethernet Cable) this will sometimes cause conflicts. For best results, Reflect Computers should only connect via a dedicated Ethernet cable. TO DISABLE WIRELESS NETWORK a. >Start b. >Control Panel c. >Network and Sharing Center d. >Wireless Network Connection e. >Disable 4. Only use the Reflect Capture Station (Laptop) to capture and upload video. a. Do Not Surf Internet with Capture Station. Do not use the Capture Station to access our Teachscape website to send video to Evaluator. Please use another computer for that work. b. Do not install any software, whatsoever on the Lucy Capture Station. This includes Microsoft Office or any 3rd party software that may be deemed safe. If you have installed software, please go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall. 5. Make sure you have the most recent version of Reflect; Version 2.5.2 If youre not running the most current version.
