Childrens Oncology Camp Foundation Job Description

Job Title: Food Service Manager and Rental Hospitality Coordinator Reports to: Executive Director Job Purpose: The Food Service Manager directs the overall food-service operation of the Camp facility. The relationship between the Food Service Manager, Camp Director and Campus Director is important to ensure the integration of the food service in the mission and program goals of the camp. Education & Experience: Experience in institutional or food service setting: ordering, inventory, budgeting, familystyle serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment. Experience in hospitality Must hold current certification or licensure required for operating a kitchen in the Camps jurisdiction Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently and cost effectively Experience in staff supervision Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements: Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices is essential. Knowledge of and experience in preparation of special dietary foods. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Part-time residential requirement during the rental season. Full-time residential requirement while camp programs are in session. Must have a valid drivers license. Physical ability to lift and carry 40 pounds. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities and camper and staff behavior. Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more). CPR certification and ability to provide first aid and assistance in an emergency. Key responsibilities: Manage the daily operations of the food and dining service during mission based Camps. o Coordinate menu planning with the Camp Director and Campus Director. o Oversee the preparation of nutritionally balanced meals and snacks and ensure the safe and efficient serving of meals. o Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies consistent with menus and enrollment counts. o Providing training, direction and supervision of weekly volunteers. Work with Facilities Manager to arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, security and upkeep of the camp kitchen, its equipment, and facilities. Revised October 2012

Work within approved budget, and notify Executive Director of activities outside of planned budget. Work with the camp director, campus director and facility manager in overseeing the preparation of campus for the camp season and in reviewing the safety procedures to ensure they meet the changing needs of camp. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety. Clean and maintain all foodservice areas, including kitchen, dining hall, storage, kitchen recycling. Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as much as possible. In year-round settings, this position will serve as an on-site liaison/host for the Childrens Oncology Camp Foundation for rental groups o Contact rental groups and send out contracts for upcoming rentals. o Plan menus, order food and prepare meals. o Plan, coordinate, schedule, and train paid service staff. Rentals of 18 or less are your sole responsibility. o Host the rentals and prepare dining room and meeting room set up.
