Specifically, the students will be able to:

GENERAL

ithin the 4-week exposure at San Pedro Hospital Delivery room, the BSN3E group 1 students will apply what they have learned about maternity and child nursing concept in the actual setting that shall aid in the enhancement of their knowledge, sharpening of skills and improvement of attitude in giving quality holistic care to the mother and neonate.
a. Identify their clinical instructor and assigned practicing clinical instructors and the staff at SPH DR; b. establish a good working relationship with fellow student nurses, clinical instructor, practicing clinical instructor and staff at the delivery room; c. reorient with the physical set-up and protocols in the delivery room; d. establish rapport with assigned clients; e. perform a physical assessment of the pregnant woman; f. assist in admission, internal examination and preparation for labor of clients; g. assist the physician in the actual delivery; h. provide immediate newborn cord care; i. record in the exhibit forms the cases handled or assisted together with the necessary signature of the clinical instructor and nurse on duty; j. identify nursing care problems experienced by the pregnant woman; k. apply appropriate nursing interventions to identified problems; l. render health teachings related to the condition of the client; m. identify a suitable client as a subject for case analysis; n. create a comprehensive case analysis; o. present the submitted case analysis thoroughly during defense; and p. evaluate self, practicing clinical instructors and clinical instructors performance on the duration of the duty.
