General Description: Bienvenidos! The Level I language course focuses on the development of communicative competence in the target language and understanding of the culture(s) of the people who speak the language. Instruction is tied to the Georgia performance standards (GPS) https://www.georgiastandards.org/ Learning a foreign language is a building process, which requires daily study. Course requirements include active participation in class and consistent competition of projects. Students are required to master the objectives of this course. They include skills in listening comprehension, speaking, reading and also the traits of Hispanic culture. The following are specific rules for the classroom: *Be on time and ready to participate in class *Be kind, caring, show respect for yourself and others. Do not say Shut UP! *Follow directions the first time they are given. * Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak. * Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself. * Be in you assigned seat when the bell rings. * Turn your cell phone off.
GRADING POLICY
2. QUIZZES: 30%
1. Daily grades: a variety of activities will be used to enhance learning. Class work, oral and written exercises, group
work assignments, class participation, handouts, homework and notes in class (keep your binders neat and organized to get full credit).
2. Quizzes: are short assessment given by the teacher. This gives the students and teacher an opportunity to
continuously monitor students progress.
3. Test: are individual forms of assessment for students knowledge in the current area of study. Students are required to
complete a test at the end of every unit and 9 weeks.
4. Projects: projects give students the opportunity to use their creativity and imagination, it help students learn more
actively, enhance students cooperation and collaboration skills.

COMMON COURTESY/ GENERAL NOTES: 1. No throwing of anything. 2. Always raise your hand if you want to participate or if you want to ask for permission. 3. Sit forward and properly, feet under desk. 4. Silence when announcements come on. 5. Give me a note if having an especially bad day. 6. When practicing the language or reading in class, I do not want to see or hear you laughing at your classmates. Lets show we respect others and have good manners.
