y delineation we mean describing ideas,
thoughts and events through drawings,
picture or sketches, here it is horoscope. To
decipher the charts for astrological predictions
is an art called "Delineation of horoscope".
An artist draws a picture to convey his
feelings and expressions. On seeing that picture
one can form a story, the artist had in his mind
while drawing that picture. This is an art. The
experienced person (means either one who knows
the art or one who has by experience learnt to
read such pictures etc.) can read and understand
that story. Same is the case with the poem.
In a chart depicting the planetary
positions is cast for any event which has
occurred, such as birth of the native or when a

query is put. An astrologer is to read such a chart
and draw a picture in his mind to reveal the past
and future events. This is possible after a proper
study of the accurately cast horoscope. The
position of planets in different vargas, the
strength of the planets etc. are all to be
considered. Thereafter the study of the order of
the Vimshottari dasha (one of the many dasha
systems) also helps in predicting event. In order
to use electricity, we need two wires - one for
positive and the other for negative current. The
single wire will not be of any use. The double
wire will help us in bringing the current to a
particular switch board, from where we can light
the bulb, or the fan, use heater for cooking etc.
There may be similiar planetary positions in two
horoscopes but the difference in dasha order may
change the trend of events in the lives of the two
natives concerned.
Say one has a promissory note, unless the
maturity date comes, the payment is not possible.
If there is a cheque, but after the expiry period
of six months from the date of issue, the payment
is not possible. There may be good yogas
(combination of planets) present in the chart,
unless the favourable dasha comes it is not
posssible to get their results. It has been seen,
that the effects of yogas are not enjoyed in full.
The reason is that the favourable dasha has not
come at the proper time. For example - The
native having Tula lagna gets the dasha of
Saturn at the early age, can rise in life and get
better placement rather than getting this dasha
at fag end. It is necessary to properly delineate
the horoscope before giving any predicition.

Procedure to delineate:
(a) Check the degrees etc. (longitudes of the
planets).
(b) Prepare vargas (divisional charts).
(c) Calculate dashas and antardashas.
(d) Analyse the position of each bhava lord, i.e. ~ .
i ~ , where it is posited, how it is connected with
other planets through aspects, association
or position (P.A.C.) I.
(e) The effect of the planets on the bhava either
by aspect or by position.
(f) The position of the bhava lord i.e.its
relationship (friendly/enmity) with the lord
~ l " in whose nakshatra and navamsha it is
posited.
(g) The avastha" of planets.
(h) The rashi sandhi etc. it is said that a planet
in sandhi is not capable of giving results.
So also a planet whose avastha is baal or
mrit is weak and cannot give its effect. A
planet in last degrees (9th navamsha) of a
dual sign will be called vargottam (being in
same navamsha), may be in own or in
friend's sign etc. but will be in rasi sandhi
or rasiant. Similiarly a planet posited in
first navamsha of a movable sign will be
vargottama. If it is in own or in friend's
nakshatra but can be baal or vridha or mrit
(dead) avasthas so it needs proper analysis.
The results have to be derived at after a

careful consideration of all the points and
after a study from all angles.
Vargottam means strong. Venus in Pisces
(Meena) between 2640' to 80 will be vargottam
and also exalted (if not exact on 27, will be near
exaltation point), will be treated as strong,
though it is in "rasiant"and "baal avastha"
(Infant). To interpret the results of such a planet
what needs is a serious consideration.
A planet is vargottama (very strong) and in
mrit avastha (weakest).
FACTORS
It is not so easy either to condemn or to
appreciate the position of the planet. The
complete study of the horoscope i.e. to study the
position of the planets and all bhavas keeping
in view all the factors such as :
z, The nature and characteristics of the
planets.
H. Their karkatvas (the work, house, persons
etc. represented by the planets).
~ H . The nature and characterisitcs of the sign
(rashi) of which the planet is the lord and
also of the sign in which the planet is
posited.
w. Their nature, characteristics and
relationship, if it is associated with other
planet.
v. The nature and the characteristics of the
nakshatra and its lord in which planet is
posited.
For example Mars posited in Satbhisha or
Aridra nakshatra. In both the cases Mars is
posited in Rahu's nakshatra. Mars will inherit
the effects of Rahu or will also have to act on
behalf of Rahu. Aridra nakshatra falls in Gemini
whose lord is Mercury. Satbhisha falls in
Aquarius whose lord is Saturn. If we also take
the case of Mars being posited in Swati
nakshatra which falls in Libra whose lord is
Venus. Will the effects in all the three cases be
similiar? No! Mars is neutral to Saturn and
enemy to Mercury. Mercury is neutral to Mars.
Saturn is enemy to Mars. One enemy and other
neutral means enemy and is badly situated.
Aridra gives affection for friends and brothers,
nature to do the obligation, anger and
mercilessness.
Satbhisha makes the native courageous,
donor and clever. He destroys enemies. It can be
concluded that Mars in Aridra, in addition to the
effects of Rahu, will give effects of Mercury's
sign, Gemini (dual sign, male sign, airy sign, odd
sign e tc .) and in addition the nature,
characteristics, karkatwas and lordship of the
bhavas of Mars. The native will be commander,
of hot temperament, courageous, reasonable and
just in nature (being lord of Aries and Scorpio).
He will be affectionate towards own men, help
the needy, merciless for the enemies (being in
Aridra constellation). The person will be wise,
will have more than one wife, fond of dancers
and singers etc. He will have strong shoulders,
broad chest (being posited in Gemini) and so on.
The same method can be adopted to interpret the
position of Mars in Satbhisha and Swati.

representing spouse. In Mercury's sign (enemy's

dosha"), in the nakshatra of the Moon (friend)
and receiving no aspect. Jupiter is also lord of
tenth house another kendra. Jupiter has no
planet in kendra from its position and only a
malefic planet (Saturn) is posited in Trikona.
In navamsha Jupiter is in Mercury's (enemy's)
house with a neutral planet Saturn. Saturn is a
friend of Mercury.

The following points are to be considered to
assess the effects of Jupiter in Virgo (Kanya):
(I,) Jupiter is lagna and tenth lord. (Two bhavas
are involved, the effects of each will be
interpreted separately).
(ii) Jupiter is in seventh house, hence the
seventh house is also influenced. The aspect
of Jupiter on eleventh and third house, is
influencing these houses.

Dosha.
d) Jupiter being posited in kendra is
considered the best, it is said -
Kimkurvanti Sarve Graha, Yasya
Kendra Brihaspati meaning all the
planets put together can not do any harm
to the native, who 'has Jupiter posited in
kendra.
e) In navamsha - Jupiter is posited in
.Mercury's sign (enemy's sign) and with
(neutral to Jupiter, but friend of
Mercury).
f) It is said :-
"Sthanhanikaro the position of
'IJUPiter in seventh house will destroy the
effects of the seventh bhava.
B. Analysis:
Here we have considered few points only
even though some more points are to be
considered. In general, astrologers do not
consider all these points before giving
predictions. Simply read the horoscope and
interpret the effects of the situation as under:
I. ') Jupiter is the lord of I and Xhouses and
is posited in seventh.
ii) In navamsha Jupiter is posited in
Gemini.
iii) Jupiter is not aspected by any planet
The prediction will be that the native
will have good married life.
II. If we wish to enjoy this great science, the
points discussed above may be elaborated thus:
Jupiter the lord of the lagna is posited in
seventh house. There is connection between the
lord of I and VII house. As Jupiter is a most
benefic planet, the position of Jupiter shows
happiness from the life partner (marriage).
Jupiter's position in the Moon's constellation (the
Moon is the lord of fifth and close friend of
Jupiter) is again very good. The native will be
attached to his wife. The fact that there is no
malefic aspect, is all the more favourable. The
Moon with Jupiter makes Gaja kesari yoga. The
position of Jupiter in the constellation of the
Moon shows better future after marriage.
Jupiter's position in enemy's house will be
bad for the lagna and X house. Jupiter will act
like Mercury (being posited in Mercury's sign)
the seventh lord. Mercury is Badhakadhip ati,
Jupiter may cause obstruction as regards
professional rise. (Jupiter being tenth lord in 7th
and the dispositer Mercury in ninth house).
Carrying Kendradhipatya dosha and being
posited in Badhaka house, Jupiter may cause
obstructions in career. Being lord of lagna
Jupiter is exempt from Kendradhipatya dosha.
Jupiter's position in kendra is the fool proof
safeguard. If there is any Arishta (trouble), the
impact of the trouble will be reduced. Jupiter is
in sixth navamsha, which is very near to the
point of exaltation. (the 7th navamsha of Virgo
falls in Cancer). It shows that Jupiter has gained
strength in navamsha. Jupiter is
Uchchabhilashi in navamsha chart.
In my view this method is to be adopted to
clearly understand the principles of astrology.
To judge the bhavas, the delineation of the
horoscope i.e the position of the lord of bhavas
in various vargas (divisional charts) is also to
be considered.
c. Strength of first bhava:
To consider the strength as well as the actual
position regarding the results of the bhavas, the
following three points should be taken into
consideration.
a) Bhava (house)
b) Lord of the house
c) Karaka planet of that house
The formula P.A.C. (position, aspect and conjunction)
is to be applied for all three points given supra.
(1,) For health of the native, the other factors
'i'!,b are also to be considered. The position of
Jupiter as discussed above shows that the
lagna lord is not strong and well placed.
The native, therefore, will not be in a
position to do well in life, he will try to
pose much, but will not get success. Jupiter
will not give better results, as he is not
posited well.
(ii) Lagna is aspected by the lord of the sign
(Jupiter) and thus getting strength. The
aspect of Saturn on lagna is not good. In
navamsha the lagna falls in Mercury's
sign. Jupiter is also posited in Mercury's
sign in Rashi as well as in navamsha.
Mercury will have more influence on the
native than Jupiter. The aspect of second
and ninth lord Venus on navamsha lagna
is good. The lord of the navamsha lagna is
aspected by Saturn and Mars. Lagna does
not show any improvement in strength in
navamsha chart also. The progress in life
will depend on the strength of other houses
and their lords.
(iii) The Moon, a Karaka for health, sound
physique, about the general condition of
native's thinking etc., is posited with Rahu
in Aquarius, eclipsed in twelfth house (not
good) in the nakshatra of Jupiter (good),
aspected by Mars (a malefic) which is not
good. There is no benefic aspect. In navamsha
the Moon is in exaltation sign (good) but
on one side a malefic is posited and on
other side, with malefic a benefic,is posited
but she is between Ketu and Saturn (not very
bad, mixed results). The health of the native
will not be very good, may be affected during
the dasha of malefic planet (which depends
upon the order of dasha) , may be in advance
age. There is a question mark regarding
health of the native. The Sun* karaka of first

Here I would like to submit that in my experience I have found
that the Moon should be considered as karaka for the first house. No
. objection if the Sun is considered as karaka. In Moon
lajtna and Sun Iagna, all the three play an important role. It is
eunellted by learned astrologers that the horoscope should be read
or judred from the etrongest lagna out of these three. Accordinjt to
thill .180 there Mould be no objection by the readerll to treat the Moon
all karak. for the first house.
My humble submiseion is that the Moon is to be considered as
karak. for the firet house while analysing the position about the health
of the native. For other purposes such as the capacity to rise in life.
the jteneral outlook of the native etc. can be known from the Sun
taking him as karaka for first house.
The Moon is directly connected with the circulation of blood. The
circulation of blood is always responsible for the upkeep of the health.
The diseases concernine mind, reneral health, blood etc. are alsc
governed by the Moon.
house is debilitated and afflicted by Saturn,
posited in eighth house, in the house of an
enemy, in navamsha too in the sign of
bitterest enemy and afflicted by Mars.
Had lagna being strong, the native would
have done better in life. In this case the lagna is
aspected by lagna lord, the lagna lord.is posited
in kendra from lagna, Saturn aspects lagna and
no benefic aspect on lagna lord. The native will
be fairly strong but will have no support as there
is no benefic aspect. The lagna lord is in
Paapakartari yoga. In case of health problem
or any other problem, the native will face
difficulties either to pull on or to solve the
problems of life. he would suffer.
D. Education '.
Let us take another aspect of the life i.e.
education. As advised by the learned astrologers,
for education the study of second, fourth and fifth
houses, karakas Mercury and Jupiter and also
the ninth house is necessary.
(i) For education take the following houses and
karakas:
(1) 2nd house (2) 4th house
(3) 5th house (4) 9th house
(5) 11th house (6) Mercury
(7) Jupiter (8) 2nd from Mercury
(ii) The fifth lord Moon is posited in twelfth
house (sign of Saturn) with Rahu and
aspected by Mars. The aspect of Saturn on
5th house is also not good. The Moon is
. posited in Jupiter's nakshatra. Moon is in
exaltation sign in nayamsha and having no
aspect, (the position has improved in
navamsha).
The position of the 5th lord and 5th house
in rashi chart is not favourable. The karaka
Jupiter is in enemy's sign and afflicted by
Saturn in navamsha and by Rahu and Ketu
in chaturvimsamsa. But both are afflicted.
There is exchange of houses by Mercury and
Jupiter (lord of lagna and 10th house) in
chaturvimsamsa. Mercury is afflicted in
rashi, navamsha and also in chaturvimsamsa.
The exchange oflagna lord and tenth lord of
chaturvimsamsa (good), the position of
,. lagna and fourth lord Jupiter with Rahu and
the position of tenth lord Mercury with Mars
in lagna, disturbs education. Therefore the
native may not have good education.
(iii) The native is born with the balance of
Jupiter's dasha. The dasha at the time of
education was of Saturn (lord of eleventh
and twelfth) who is aspecting 5th house. The
affliction as discussed above may result in
the native's not getting any- higher
education.
E. Houses Concerning Education
There is a controversy regarding the houses
or bhavas concerning education, but in my
opinion there is need of considering all these
bhavas. My humble submission is as under:
(a) Second house: The house of speech. First
of all the native learns how to speak.
Secondly he may be sent to school (kinder

tiL garten or Nursery) for initial education. We
lI.i can say upto fourth or fifth standard.
(b) Fourth house: The native learns from the
family members and the society about the
1:),1 manners, social etiquettes etc. The education
in school upto twelfth standard. The moral
..;, and social values are acquired because of
.I) the company of friends. The fourth house is
h,t domestic life, the atmosphere around and
tu the company enjoyed by the native. Some
fti times the native is interested in education
. u ~ -but the family circumstances are not found
1n. favourable. There can be a halt or break in
io rt education, the reason can be financial
br problem (6th house) or marriage. If these
w" hurdles are overcome, the native can go for
,,,,l higher education.
(c) Fifth house: The native has grown up and
can think about his future and can plan for
the prosperity in life. Here he learns from
his experience gained in day to day
activities and also from the incidents of
others' lives. He gets education upto
'.If' graduate level (say B.A., ReoID., RE. and
MBBS -etc). This is also the house of
intelligence and planning.
After fifth house, the native gets the effects
of the sixth house i.e. earning (sixth is
service, house of wealth and ARTHA
TRIKONA), then the seventh KAAM TRIKONA
the house of marriage and after this the
house of marital bliss (eighth).
(d) Ninth house: It is the house of higher
education i.e. post graduation
Higher education is possible only when the
native is not interested / or compelled for
immediate earning of wealth and marriage
(activation of sixth and seventh house).
Here the native becomes quite mature after
doing his graduation and can understand
the importance of higher education.
(e) Eleventh house: It is the house where the
native starts earning, but still continues
acquiring proficiency in education i ,e ,
doctorate, M.D., M.S. etc. and also gets
money through scholarship or service.
(iv) Progeny: Another aspect of human life,
connected with the fifth house, Jupiter and
ninth house is progeny. The analysis in the
above example shows that the position of
fifth house, fifth lord and Jupiter is not very
favourable. The ninth house is also to be
considered. The Moon is afflicted in twelfth
with Rahu and aspected by Mars. Saturn
afflicts fifth house also. The positions of fifth
from fifth house (ninth house) Scorpio, fifth
from the Moon (Gemini) and the fifth from
Jupiter (Capricorn) is very good. The ninth
house has Mars (second and ninth lord) in
\ ~ , own house, Mercury (fourth and seventh
lord) and Venus lord of third and eighth.
There is no malefic effect on ninth house and
also on ninth lord.
The lord of the fifth house from Jupiter is
posited in his own house and aspected by
Jupiter.
In Saptamsha there is exchange of lord of
first and second bouse. Saturn aqd Mars two

is exalted in tenth with the Moon. This is
, very good situation. The aspect of Saturn

also not favourable.
In Navamsha : The Moon, lord of the fifth

Conclusion :The native will have children,
but will also face problems like abortions,

houses are also simultaneously transited by
malefics.
Actual Incidents in Life:
Three sisters, brother, self (born as twins,
with a younger sister who died later).
Education - Matriculation.
Death of mother - 1942-43.
Death of father - 21-2-1972.
D.O.M. - Feb.1955.
Children -
i) Son (Dec.1956) .

ii) Daughter (died after two weeks).
iii) Son (died after six months).
iv) Daughter (Jan. 1960) (married in 1987
and widowed on 20-2-94), the next day
after the vida* ceremony of youngest
daughter).
, v) Daughter (married in 1991).
vi) Daughter (married on 20-2-1994). Her
brother-in-law died as soon as she left
for her in-laws' house after marriage.
(g) Did many businesses, but not very
successful. Inherited wealth and property
in abundance. Father was also very well
off. Rental income of properties was the
main source of income.
(h) A very religious brahmin, sold parental
house and purchased two flats, one for self
and the other for the son and shifted
residence in 1996.
(g) The position of Jupiter in the seventh
house, seventh lord Mercury in ninth
house with ninth lord Mars has given him
a religiously elevated soul- as 'wife', If
studied from the seventh house (treating
it as lagna of the the seventh lord
.n lagna, lagna lord' with ninth lord
(Venus) in third with third lord Mars, the
indicated are the same as

The lord of fourth house, the Moon is
posited in lagna (Aries) and is near
exaltation. The Moon is strong as it is of
fifth day from the full Moon day.
The lord of the fifth house Sun is posited
with the third and sixth lord Mercury and
aspected by ninth and twelfth lord Jupiter.
Mercury lord of sixth is posited in fifth

THIRD READING
Find out the "Prarabdha" (promise in the
birth chart) i.e. the events which are likely to
take place in the life of the native. On the basis
of the first information and thoughts received
after the two steps discussed above, move further
slowly to find the promise in the horoscope:
(a) Lagna is Aries (house of energy). The Moon
is posited in ascendant not aspected by any
planet. The Moon is of panchami tithi (fifth
day of dark h alf) and nearer to sign of
exaltation (uchchabhilashi). Lagna is in the
Bharani nakshatra of Venus. The lagna is
strong.
The lord of lagna Mars is posited in third
house, in Gemini sign (Mithuna) and
aspected by Jupiter (the lord of the ninth and
twelfth, a most benefic and retrograde
planet). No other aspect. Mars is posited in
own constellation (very good position) but in
enemy's sign. Though Mercury treats Mars
as neutral, the aspect of retrograde Saturn
will be considered from Sagittarius (an
enemy's aspect), though Mars considers
Saturn as neutral is not good position. The
lagna lord is well posited and not very weak.
The aspect of Jupiter, Mars in own
constellation and Saturn being lord of a
kendra are to give auspicious results.
The third factor for health is considered from
the Moon (karaka for first house). It has
already been discussed that the Moon is well
posited and strong.
Conclusion: The assessment of the house

shows that the native will enjoy good health,
will prosper in life, but there may be some
problems regarding health due to lagna lord's
position in enemy's sign and the aspect of
another enemy. He may also be required to
face oppositions, but he will overpower them.
(b) The second house is Taurus (sign of
comforts, wealth etc.) whose lord is Venus
(enjoyments). This house receives aspect of
Jupiter (being retrograde aspect comes from
' ~ ; Capricorn). No malefic aspect. Jupiter is the
lord of ninth and aspects house of wealth.
Jupiter is the karaka for second house, the
aspect of Jupiter is good. Jupiter, the karaka
of money is also posited in eleventh (house
of gains).
The lord of the second house Venus is
debilitated in Virgo (friend's house) posited
in the constellation "Hasta" of the Moon
(enemy). Jupiter aspects Venus (from
Capricorn, Jupiter being retrograde).
Saturn's aspect on Venus (from Sagittarius,
as Saturn is also retrograde), is a friendly
aspect. Jupiter lord of ninth and twelfth
aspects second house as well as Venus the
second lord, will give financial betterment.
Retrograde Saturn's aspect is also a malefic
aspect, aspect of lords of tenth and eleventh
from ninth house, the native will earn money,
but may face some difficulties on account of

debilitated Venus and Saturn's malfeasance.
He may suffer from weak eyesight. He may
spend money because of bad habits and on
vices or lose money. There may be
obstructions in the earnings also.
(c) The third house Gemini is occupied by Mars
(lord of first and eighth houses). Saturn is
aspecting third house as well as Mars, karaka
for third house. Jupiter also aspects the third
house and also the third lord. Third lord
Mercury is posited in Leo (fifth house) with
Sun (friend) lord of fifth. No malefic aspect.
The position of Mars in third house (refer the
book "Nine planet and twelve bhavas" by
or. M.N.Kedar), destroys brother (Manasagari)
"( and the native will not have younger brothers
or sisters (Bhrigu). Mars in the third
indicates (according to research done in 1985)
that the native will be either youngest or eldest
amongst brothers (Same sex). He may have
sisters younger or elder to him. Mars destroys
co-borns, but aspect of Jupiter being benefic
provides relief.
Conclusion: The native may have younger
sisters, but no brother younger to him. He
will be courageous, pioneering, intelligent,
reckless, adventurous, short tempered,
unprincipled, essay morals, unpopular,
unconquerable, virtuous, famous etc.
(d) Lord of the fourth house, the Moon is
posited in ascendant (the position of the Moon
has already been discussed in previous
paragraphs). The fourth house has Rahu in
it and receives the aspect of Saturn. It does
not give comfortable position. The lord is well
placed but the house is afflicted. The karakas
for the fourth house is the Moon and Venus.
Venus is afflicted by Mars and Saturn,
benefic aspect is of Jupiter on fourth and
karaka of the fourth house (Venus).
Conclusion: The native may face difficulties
as regard fourth house matters. The problem
could be with regard to conveyance, property
etc.
(e) Fifth house is Leo, the lord of this bhava is
posited in own sign'. The bhava whose lord is
posited in own house is very strong. This is
the moolatrikona sign of the Sun (lord of
fifth), Mercury lord of third and sixth is also
posited, which is a friend of the Sun. Jupiter
(R) lord of ninth and twelfth aspects fifth,
fifth lord, the Sun and also Mercury. There
is no malefic effect. The combination of Sun
and Mercury (Budh-Aditya yoga) is good for
education and intelligence. The aspect of
Jupiter enhances the auspicious results of the
fifth house.
Conclusion - The native will enjoy full
auspicious results. He will be educated, wise
and will have children.
(f) Sixth house has Venus (debilitated) lord
of second and seventh. The lord of sixth house
Mercury is posited in fifth. A malefic in the
sixth house, ifposited is always preferred to
a benefic. There is malefic aspect of Mars
(lord of lagna and eighth house) from third
house. Jupiter aspects the sixth house and
its' lord. Saturn aspects sixth house. There
will be mixed results as regard the sixth
house is concerned.
(g) The Seventh house has no planet; aspect
of Jupiter, lord of ninth and twelfth which is
posited in eleventh, is on the seventh house.
The lord of seventh Venus is posited in sixth
and is debilitated. The seventh house receives
the aspect of the Moon, the fourth lord. The
aspect of Mars and Saturn on the seventh
lord, causes affliction. The native will enjoy
the comforts of seventh house, but some
difficulty is perceived. The detailed analysis
~ ' on this point will follow.
(h) Eighth house: There is no planet in this
house. The lord of eighth house Mars is
posited in the third house, aspected by
Jupiter and Saturn(R). There is no aspect on
eighth house. The eighth house is in a good
position and the lord of this house is also in
a good position.
(i) Ninth house : This is a very important
house. There is no planet in this house. Mars
aspects this house. Saturn (being retrograde)
also effects this house and aspects the lord
of ninth house, Jupiter. Mars and Saturn's
influence on ninth is not good. It may create
hindrance for the native to rise in life. He
may also face trouble from father.
(j) Tenth house has Saturn(R) and Ketu.
Saturn lord of tenth is strong, being posited
in own house and is retrograde. The position
of Ketu and aspect of Mars show some
disturbed situation. Jupiter being retrograde
also influences the tenth house.
(k) Eleventh house: This is the house of gains
and the lord of this house is posited in own
sign which is the karmasthana (12th from
own house). Jupiter ninth lord influencing
the eleventh is good, aspected by third and
,;I. sixth lord Mercury and the fifth lord Sun
which is also good.
(1) Twelfth house has no planet. Twelfth lord,
Jupiter is posited in eleventh, Venus aspects
twelfth house. Saturn also aspects the twelfth
lord and the house.
The further analysis in this regard will be
more illuminating and elaborate than the
earlier three steps.
la. Lagna is Aries (Mesha), in the sign of Mars,
is in constellation of Venus and navamsha of
Mars. There is no aspect on lagna. The Moon,
lord of fourth (a strong Moon) is posited in
ascendant, in the nakshatra of Ketu and in
own navamsha. The Moon's position in lagna

is very good and auspicious. (The Moon is of
fifth day of dark half or 'krishna paksha' is
treated as strong and is also uchchabhilashi).
b. Lagna lord Mars is posited in third house, a
house of co-borns, prakrama bhava (nature
of doing hard work), friends etc., in the sign
of Mercury i.e. Gemini (Mithuna), in own
navamsha with Mercury and Rahu and is also
lord of navamsha lagna. The position of lagna
lord is also very strong.
c. For judgement of any bhava the following three
factors are to be considered positively
(i) Bhava or house;
(ii) Lord of the bhava or house;
(iii) Karaka for that bhava;
In this case (i) and (ii) have already been
discussed at (a) and (b).
The karaka for first house according to the
classical text is "the Sun". While discussing
about the health of the native and his success
in life. I have found the Moon should be
considered as karaka for the first house. The
Sun may also be considered as a fourth factor,
in case if lagna, lagna lord and the Moon all
the three are afflicted. The Sun is the "soul"
so it may be considered for general progress
in life especially as karaka for the first house.
The position of the Moon has already been
considered at (a) supra.
Conclusion: The native will possess sound
health, will be handsome, of good height and
will make progress in life.
2a. The second house Taurus (Vrish) has no
planet. The house receives aspect of
retrograde Jupiter (lord of ninth and twelfth).
No malefic aspect is seen. The second house
is house of money, income, wealth, speech,
family etc. The aspect of karaka of wealth
Jupiter on second house is very good.
b. The lord of second house Venus is posited in
sixth house and debilitated. The malefic
aspects of Mars and retrograde Saturn on
Venus is bad. In rashi chart it is posited in
:' Mercury's sign and in navasmha too in
Mercury's sign. A very good position.
c. Karaka of second house Jupiter is posited in
Saturn's sign, aspected by fifth lord Sun (very
good) and Mercury (enemy, not good). The
position of karaka is not very comfortable.
Conclusion: The native will enjoy the
minimum benefits of second house. Sometimes
he may face financial problems too.
3a. The third house Gemini (Mithuna) is occupied by
Mars (lord of lagna and eighth), a malefic
It planet, aspected by Jupiter lord of ninth and
twelfth and retrograde Saturn.
b. The lord of third house Mercury is posited in Leo
(Simha) the fifth house with a friend Sun and

also receives aspect of Jupiter. The positionis very

c. Karaka for the third house Mars is posited
in third house. It is said in classical texts that
Ic "Karako bhavanashyah" the k ar akas
.( position in the house concerned is

(published in Astrological Magazine in July
1995) it was revealed that this principle
(Karako bhavanashyah) and another
principle given below were correctly
applicable if taken with exceptions.
"If a native has Mars in third house he will
be eldest or youngest in the family."
In this case native seems to be only brother,
may be sister after him.

If Jupiter is posited in eleventh, it shows
trouble to elder brother. If Mars is posited in
eleventh house and is aspected by Saturn,
there may not be any elder brother. If lord of
third house is posited in 6th or 8th, it shows
danger of life to brothers.
Conclusion: The position of the third house
is very good, malefic in 3rd house are always
preferred, as it makes the native hard
working and active. Here the lagna lord Mars
posited in third is aspecting 9th and 10th.
Lagna lord, means self, will work hard (3rd
house) and make his fortune (lagna lord
aspects 9th house from the third). He will be
~ a self made man. The aspect of ninth lord

4a. The fourth house Cancer (karakata) has
Rahu and receives malefic aspect of Saturn
(bad). Jupiter retrograde also aspects this

eleventh) increases the malfeasance ofRahu.
Moreover Saturn inauspicious for this lagna
and debilitated in navamsha, may create
trouble. Rahu is in Saturn's constellation.
The house is hemmed between malefics.
b. Lord of fourth the Moon is posited in Mars'
sign and own navamsha. The position of the
Moon as already been discussed and judged
as good. The Moon is in Ketu's constellation
and Ketu in turn is in the constellation of
the Moon. Ketu is associated with Saturn who
is also in the constellation of the Moon.
c. Karakas for the fourth house are the Moon
(mother) and Venus (vehicle, house,
11: property). The position of the both has
already been discussed.
Conclusion: The position of the fourth house

fourth is good.

I}') I stopped at this point. I predicted that this
O. was the time for marriage and also for some
accident. But I did not see any physical hurt.

Native explained the actuale-ve-nts. The
native was running Sun's major period and
Venus antara during 1989 when he was
. ~ married on 10th Feb., 1989 and also met with
- an accident, just after few days of marriage.
The vehicle was damaged badly but he got a
minor hair size fracture in left leg. The major
period of the Sun fifth lord, posited in fifth,
in constellation of Ketu (posited in tenth),
aspected by Jupiter, associated with Mercury
and in navamsha posited in seventh house,
the sign of Venus. This could give marriage.
I' The antara of Venus, lord of second and
seventh, posited in the Moon's constellation
and Mercury's navamsha which is the eighth
house of navamsha, is connected with
marriage, hence Venus could give marriage.
On 10th Feb.'89 Saturn was transiting
Sagittarius (Dhanu) aspecting Mars and
Venus the lord of first and seventh house
\ ; ~ respectively. Jupiter(R) upto 20th January
was transiting lagna and aspecting seventh
house and fulfilled the condition* for the
happening of event of marriage.
We have already discussed that Venus is also
a maraka (being lord of second and seventh)
posited in sixth house (of disease, accident
etc.) and posited in the second from Sun the
d major period lord. Venus is under the
influence of Mercury (third and sixth lord)
and also in constellation of the Moon (lord of
.fourth) and is afflicted by Mars (eighth lord).

Mars is lagna lord also. But for affliction on
lord of antardasha Venus, the effect of Mars
is considered as the lord of eighth and as a
malefic only.
In navamsha also Venus is afflicted by
Saturn. As per discussion of fourth house, the
position of the fourth and karaka Venus was
not satisfactory, so this period was a period
of problems for the fourth. Venus karaka for
marriage has given the result of second
(kutumbha) and seventh (marriage or life
partner) but the other results of Venus i.e.
lord of the maraka sthana and trouble from
conveyance can also be there if there is bad
transit. In transit Mars was transiting lagna,
i"tO'\sfflicting Moon, lagna and fourth house.
~ ~ a t . u r n was transiting and was afflicting
Venus (karaka of fourth house), Jupiter was
transiting second house aspecting Venus.
Saturn too was afflicting Venus and Mars
(lagna lord and eighth lord). Rahu and Ketu
covered the axis of fourth and tenth. Sun

transited Aquarius (Kumbha) aspected natal
Sun and mahadasha nath and was also
aspected by transiting Saturn.
Conclusion: As there was not much
affliction to lagna, the native got minor hurt,
the heavy affliction of fourth house and the
karaka Venus caused a major damage to the
scooter. There is enmity between M.D. Nath
and A.D. Nath (Sun and Venus). Venus has
occupied 2nd house from the Sun. Venus is
the karaka (for conveyance) indicated bad
period.
The techniques of delineation adopted here
are quite useful for prediction. Further
elucidation on these points of predictive
techniques will be discusse d.
5 The fifth house simply has its lord Sun posited
therein with Mercury lord of third and sixth
and aspected by Jupiter (lord of ninth and
twelfth) from eleventh house. There is no
malefic aspect.
Conclusion: The fifth house shows
happiness in respect of progeny and
education. He will be interested in education.
He will be interested in having good status
in life. The connection of third, sixth and
twelfth lords shows that the native may work
hard (association of third and sixth), go away
from the birth place to get a better future.
He will get success in competition. The
connection of fifth and ninth lord shows that
he had brought a balance of good karmas from
past births and will also do good karmas
(actions) in the present birth: He will also
face difficulties and frustations because of
sixth lord. Jupiter being retrograde is
inclined towards the point of debilitation. But
the (R) planet is the strong one. Here Jupiter
being vargottama and retrograde will give
h good effects during its period.
6. The sixth house: Virgo has debilitated Venus,
the lord of second and seventh. The house
receives aspects of Jupiter(R) and Saturn(R).
The lord of the house has gone to fifth house
(we have already analysed the position of
Venus). Mars, the lord of lagna and eighth,
also asp ects sixth house. It shows that the
sixth house will always be a source of trouble
due to effect of twelfth and eighth lords. As
regards wife the trouble will be because of
Venus, karaka of 7th and lord of seventh,
which is debilitated and afflicted. The aspect
of Jupiter saves the native from accidents,
diseases and also from facing marital discord.
Mars and Saturn are malefics affecting the
sixth house. Saturn is an inauspicious planet
for this lagna.
7. The seventh house: Libra has .no planet.
The Moon aspects the seventh house(good).
c! The aspect of Jupiter also enhances the good
effects of the seventh house. The aspect of
Saturn may cause delay in marriage.
The lord of the seventh Venus debilitated in
sixth (house of disease and of enemy), is
afflicted by Saturn and Mars. However, the

of Jupiter on seventh lord Venus is
'8 favourable.
Conclusion: He will have happy married
life. He will be getting maraka effects of
Venus. Venus does not kill directly. The
association of sixth, eighth and twelfth and
the effects of Saturn and Mars may cause
accidents to him or diseases to his wife.
The aspect of Jupiter will always shower
saving grace on him and reduce the impact
of the malefic effects.
8. The eighth house: has no planet and does
not receive any aspect. The lord of eighth
Mars is posited in third, eighth from eighth,
in Mercury's sign (enemy sign), but aspected
by Jupiter (good) and Saturn(R) (bad). This
shows again that the native may have danger
to life through sudden accidents. The eighth
house indicates events which happen all of a
sudden or unexpectedly.
9. The ninth house Sagittarius has no planet
posited therein but the aspect of Mars, a
malefic is bad. Mars as lord of eighth is bad,
but as a lord of lagna is very favourable.
The lord of the ninth Jupiter(R) posited in
eleventh is aspected by the fifth lord the Sun
(good). The aspect of Mercury the third and
sixth lord and the effect of Saturn(R) is bad.
Conclusion: The lagna lord Mars posited
in third and aspects ninth and tenth. This
means the native will be interested in making
his future and will be self made. The aspect
of tenth lord Saturn will make him more
serious and successful. The aspect of ninth
lord Jupiter on lagna lord means he would
get support from father .
. 10. The tenth house: Capricorn is occupied by
its own lord Saturn (good). The position of
Ketu in tenth and the eighth aspect of Mars
. on tenth are not good. But this will make the
profession of the native technical. There will
be hindrances in the career.
11. The eleventh house: Aquarius has Jupiter,
the lord of ninth and twelfth, aspected.by lord
of fifth the Sun (good) and the third-sixth lord
Mercury (not good). Mercury is also friend of
Saturn. The lord of eleventh Saturn is in its
own sign, in tenth with Ketu and afflicted by
Mars. Here again Jupiter and Sun are giving
hope of good results, but the eleventh lord
Saturn is badly afflicted.
12. The twelfth house: Pisces has no planet
posited therein. The house is aspected by
Saturn (a malefic) and Venus (a benefic but
enemy). This sign is the sign of exaltation
for Venus. Therefore the aspect of Venus will
be good. The lord of this house is posited in
eleventh receives aspect of Sun, Mercury and
Saturn(R). The twelfth house and its lord
both are aspected by malefics and benefics,
the result will be mixed.
The aforesaid analysis has given us the
general idea about the trend of events likely
to occur during the life of the native in
respect of twelve houses. For further
elaboration and clarity another method of
delineation will be discussed hereafter.

CHAPTER 3
NAVAMSHA VARGA
T
he vargas are used for the confirmation of
the results arrived at after the analysis of the
twelve houses.
1. Each varga represents one house out of the
twelve houses. For example navamsha for
spouse, dwadasamsha for parents,
saptamsha for children or progeny and so on.
The descriptive use of vargas for shaping and
confirming the prediction will be discussed
in chapter 5.
2. Another major use of vargas is to find the
strength of the planets. According to the
classical texts if a planet is posited in
auspicious vargas, will give good results or
adverse results if in inauspicious vargas. To
measure the VIMSOPAKA STRENGTH of
the planets in Shadvargas (six divisions)
i.e. Rashi (D/l), Hora (D/2), Decanate (DI
3), Navamsha (D/9), bwadsamsha (D/l2)
and Trimsamsha (D/30). Each varga is
given 6, 2, 4, 5, 2, 1 number of points
respectively out of the total of 20 points.
If we have to calculate the strength of the
planets in saptavarga (seven division) the
sapthamasha is also added to above six
vargas, i.e. Dll, D/2, D/3, D/7, D/9, D/12 and DI
30 and each varga gets 5,2, 3, 2%, 4%, 2 and 1
points respectively.
it is, therefore,' clear that points system
mentioned above has given the navamsha
chart, second position after rashi chart.
3. Presently, we will use navamsha chart for
finding out the effects of the navamsha in
which the planet is posited.
Importance of navamsha:
z. This varga (divisional chart) gets highest
point in vimshopaka after rashi chart.
H. This is the only varga which causes to attain
the status of "vargottama" when a planet
is in the same sign, both in navamsha as well
as in rashi chart. It means best in vargas or
very strong.
tH. The verdict of navamsha is supreme as :
The position of the planet in navamsha is
considered final than to the position of that
planet in rashi chart.
Example:
(a) If a planet is exalted in rashi chart but
debilitated in navamsha chart, the result
will be bad because of debilitation. The
planet will be treated as debilitated;
.(b) If the planet is debilitated in rashi chart
and is exalted in navamsha chart, it will
give good results i.e. of exaltation, will
be treated like exalted planet.

w. The navamsha is Sookshma Sareera (Astral
body) whereas rashi chart is Sthoola Sareera
- Pancha Bhoota {physical body - made of
five elements - earth, air, water, fire and
,1>. 'ether (akash)}.
The physical body describes general things
apparently visible about the native, whereas
the astral body describes the real nature,
intention, inclination, aptitude, character
etc. of the native. This can not be known from
the appearance and by general talks with the
native. It needs close observation.
The navamsha chart, if studied properly
reveals real characteristics and the spiritual
strength in the native.
Use of navamsha
The importance of navamsha has been
discussed. The use of navamsha chart for
delineation of the horoscope is as under-
(i) The first house: Lagna is in Aries and falls
in Scorpio navamsha . This means the lagna
is strong. The lord of lagna Mars is in
Mercury's sign and is in own navamsha. This
is again a' good position. The Moon is in

Mercury and Rahu are associated with lagna
lord Mars. There is aspect of Saturn and
Jupiter 011 Mars in rasi chart. The first
bhava has influence of Mars, 1\100n, Jupiter,
Saturn, Mercury and Rah u . The

their combined effect.

practical application by the readers. The first
house is judged or analysed for finding out:
(a) The type of physique one possesses.
Whether he will have sound health or not?
The looks or appearance and structure of its
8J > face etc. are governed by this house.
(b) Another aspect which is most
important is to look for the native's capacity
to work, his ambition, general feelings,
temperament, whether he will be hard
working or otherwise?
The combined effect of these planets will
provide a clue. The ascendant of chart i ~
movable, while in n avamsha the lagna is a
fixed sign. The r asi sign is fiery and in
navamsha, the sign is watery, both are
inimical to each other and are not conducive.
The effect of Mars is maximum and the effect
of Mercury and Saturn is also there. Mars
gives dashing nature, Mercury calculative,
the ]\l100n unstable, Jupiter religious, Saturn
stiff and lazy, Rahu shadowy, hazy,
confusing and doubtful.
(c) The third factor is constellation. In the
examplp chart lagna is in the constellation

of Venus and l agn a lord is in its own
constellation i.e. Mrigashira. Venus makes
the person ambitious. The combination of
Mars and Venus makes the person more
sexy, ambitious and greedy.

working, energetic, commanding personality

inclination for education. The effect of Rahu
will make him confused, interested in vices,
taking wrong decisions and a disturbed life.
Saturn's aspect on lagna lord Mars will also
hamper the progress, cause unrest and
laziness in him. He will have sound physique
and handsome personality.
(d) The first house is the key point for
interpretating the results of other eleven
houses and for giving successful predictions.
Only theoretical knowledge of this science
will not give successful predictions. It is
found by every astrologer, in his experience,
that many a time the result do not come
according to the combination of planets i.e.
yogaspresent in the chart. The reason is that
the astrologer has not looked into the aspect
of "Prarabdha" and the intention, capacity,

desire, ambitions etc. which cause "Prerana"
( ~ X U T T ) inspiration in him to act or' not. The
man is free to act, prarabdha gives him
inspiration to commit a sin or to do a good
deed. It is for the native to take a proper
decision. If he decides properly and
simultaneously carries out remedial
measures and remains vigilant, he will not fJl
suffer, rather will be able to reduce the bad
results and will surely enhance the good
results. He will get success. As in this case
under discussion the first house shows a
multiple combinations due to effect of six
planets. The planets will have their good or
bad effects according to their natural
characteristics. These effects only give him
ideas, inclinations etc. The other houses are
concerned with the events of life which they
represent.
Let us say marriage: The combination of
the planets, seventh house and Venus etc.
indicate early marriage. The native can
have, if he wishes to go for marriage. Ifhe is
interested in education, for a higher career
and wishes to concentrate for his better
position before marriage, the marriage will
not take place. We have also seen the cases
where the native is very much interested in
marriage, there is favourable situation for
marriage in the horoscope, but the marriage
does not take place. A question arises, "why".
It is very clear from the study of the first
house if done properly. The native has made
a picture in his mind for the selection of the
' ~ f ; spouse. If he is not getting the spouse of his
choice there will be delay. According to
astrological principles he has no choice here.
The pairs are already determined. These are
made in heaven. If the choice of the native
is for the life partner, who is perchance fixed
for him (destined), he will marry the same
person. Otherwise he will have to wait till
he comes in contact with a person destined
for him. Here the role of the first house is
to indicate vitality, ambitions and thinking
etc. which playa major role. The happy and
successful married life and progeny a II
depend upon the first house. Instead of
covering mo re p age s of this book, in short I
have tried to put forth my Ideas before t.he
learned readers to think about this asp ec t.
(ii) Second House: The second house has no
planet, in turn asp ec te d by retrograde
Jupiter, the ninth and twelfth lord and a
karaka for second house. The lord of second
house Venus is debilitated, posited in
nakshatra of the Moon (enemy) and the sign
of Mercury (a good and deep friend). Saturn
an other friend aspects Venus. The aspect of
Mars (a neutral), on Venus has its own role
to play. Jupiter also aspects Venus (good).
The second house has effect of Venus,
Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter and the
Moon. The lord of second is posited in
navamsha of Mercury (better as nearer to
own sign, away from debilitation and in the
friend's house).
The point to be borne in mind is that Venus
is having maximum influence of Mercury.
Though Mercury is friend of Venus (good) but
also lord of third and sixth (which is not
good). Mars, though lagna lord (any bhava
or planet aspected by lagna lord or
associated with lagna lord gets strength),
Mars is a natural malefic and also eighth
lord (will cause affliction). The aspect of
Saturn apart from being a friendly aspect is
an aspect of inauspicious planet,
Badhakadhipati and a natural malefic.
f'. Ninth and twelfth lord Jupiter (karaka of
". second house), a benefic aspecting the second
house as well as the second lord will not let
lj the native feel the dearth of money.
! Conclusion: The financial position of the
1 native will be medium, will incur expenses
on diseases, medicines, may have debts,
theft, loss of money in one form or the other.
Ii Second house being the house of speech. the
native may be harsh, control of Jupiter may
pose some restrictions and make him polite.
The use of second house for astrological
predictions is manifold. It has its own
importance. Mter lagna or the first house,
the next importance is given to this house.
lO Learned astrologers say that this house is
also house of education, wealth, speech etc.
I treat this house as the house of friendship
and enmity. The speech is responsible for
making a friend or a foe. This house shows
the longevity of the association of the
married couple. The second house indicates
whether the married life will be happy,

cordial and for a longer period.
This house is also marakasthana. The two
houses, second and seventh have been
defined on one hand as marakasthanas
(killer), on the other hand as they represent
the most important factor of the happy
human life i.e. money, wealth and spouse
respectively. The man cannot be happy
without money and good life partner.

It is very clear -
(1) As a lion is entrapped by a hunter, using
goat (as a food for him), similiarly the
native after marriage, loses his freedom.
(2) The diseases generally contracted by the
native are due to food habits i.e. second
house is house of wealth, but also of
death.
(3) A lust for money makes the native
greedy, immoral, of loose social values
etc.
(4) The seventh house, over sex, dissatisfied
sex, cause loss of moral and social
values, marital discord etc ., are all
indicated by this house. Here I stress
that the marriage puts responsibility of
Grahastha Ashrama on the shoulders
of the native. His freedom, which he/she
used to enjoy due to the grace ofparents
is now restricted. So the acquisition of
wealth also makes the man worried.
Worrying is bad. The native suffers on
account of worries. One does not care for
health when he is busy in his business,
profession and also while indulging in
sex.
(ii'L) The third House: has Mars in his own
constellation Mrigashira, in navamsha in
Scorpio own sign, (showing very strong hold
on third house). The aspect of Jupiter on
third house (enemy) and on Mars (enemy to
Mercury but friend to Jupiter), will reduce
the malefic effect of Mars on the third house.
Saturn's aspect on Mars (enemy, but Gemini
a friend's house) will withhold Mars from
giving a malefic effect on third house.
A very important point will require attention
of readers. Mars in third aspected by Jupiter
the ninth lord is treated as good. The actual
position is, Jupiter is retrograde in Saturn's
house (a neutral), in the constellation of
Rahu and in Saturn's navamsha
(vargottama). Hence he will be in a position
to give complete beneficial results. So also
Saturn is posited in the constellation of
Moon (enemy) debilitated in navamsha chart
will also not be very strong to stop Mars from
giving his malefic effects. The position of
lagna lord in third is also not favourable for
co-borns. Either there will not be a male
issue after him, or will not survive, or the
native will not have cordial relations with
him or the coborn will not prosper.
The position ofMars in third house is defined
as destructive for brothers, unhappiness
from brothers, bereft of co-born etc. (refer
book "Nine planets and twelve bhavas"
written by the author).
Actual events of the chart under
discussion (in chapter 2):
The native is eldest, has a sister, a brother
and a sister after him in chronological order.
(a) The position of Mars indicates that the
i native should be either the eldest or
youngest (in same sex) and may not be in
bet.ween the two. This principle is
correctly applicable here.
(b) The position of Mars in third means the
native will not have brother/sister (coborn
of the same sex) after him. The native of
j the chart under discussion has a sister
after him. Had there been a male progeny
1 to his mother that would have resulted
into abortion or death.
(iv) The fourth house has Rahu in Cancer
whose lord Moon, is in Aries i.e. in lagna
(well posited). Rahu is in the Pushya
constellation of Saturn and in navamsha of
Mars (strong malefic). The lord of the fourth
Moon is in the constellation of Ketu and in
i ts own navamsha. No aspect is on the Moon.
The fourth house receives seventh aspect of
Saturn (Badhakadhipati for this Aries lagna
and also an inauspicious planet). The fourth
house is badly afflicted. The house is also
sandwiched between two malefics Mars and
the Sun. Only the position of the lord of
fourth and the aspect of Jupiter on fourth
house gives some relief.
The fourth bhava is under the influence of
Rahu, Mars, Sun, Saturn, Ketu, Moon and
Jupiter. The effect of malefic planets is more.
Jupiter is posited in a malefic sign and also
in malefic constellation. The Moon is in
malefic sign and in malefic constellation.
Jupiter is not very powerful, but as Jupiter
is Vargottama it is strong. The Moon is in
own navamsha. Rahu is in navamsha of Mars
(afflicte d). Satu rn is deb iii tate d in
navamsha (weak). Mars is lagna and 8th lord
for this chart.
Conclusion: There may be difficulties,
discomfort, some problems, quarrels and
unhappiness etc. in home or problems
concerning properties Dr conveyances but
relief is also visible due to favourable
positions of Jupiter and the Moon.
Results - The native had to be away from
family from 20-8-1B80 to 20-8-1B85 due to
service at Delhi and also suffered loss of
money due to cheating by a property dealer
(in IB88), accident of scooter (in 1989 and
again in IBB6).
(v) The fifth house (Poorva janma karmas) has
its lord Sun posited therein (very good), with
Mercury and aspected by Jupiter (good). The
Sun is in constellation of Ketu (a malefic,
not good, but Ketu is gyanakaraka) and in
the navamsha of Venus (enemy sign) with
Ketu. This shows the Sun has lost its
strength being afflicted in navamsha.
Jupiter and Mercury are supposed to
strengthen the position of the fifth house.
Mercury lord of the third and the sixth will
also give some trouble in one respect. There
is a malefic in twelfth and benefic in the
second house from the fifth house.
Conclusion: The native will be intelligent
(Sun and Mercury), sharp in taking accurate
decisions, if he goes on the wrong track, he
would be checked and made to progress
(effect of Ketu and Jupiter). He will be
interested in education (ninth lord Jupiter
aspects fifth, fifth lord and Mercury). In rasi
chart the Sun (fifth lord) is in its own sign
and in navamsha nearest to the sign of
exaltation. He will be wise because of the
association of Sun, Mercury and Jupiter.
{II Actual happening - The native stood first
in the eighth class, became a victim of wrong
company which diverted his attention from
education. He became serious and secured
high first division in tenth class. In eleventh
class again the situation became worse, but
an improvement came later on and he passed
ou t the twelfth with first division. Did
diploma with honours. He was blessed with
a son on 23rd June 1990.
The result of the fifth house, received by the
native are good with minor disturbance. This
all was due to Sun and Mercury in fifth
aspected by ninth lord Jupiter.
(vi) The sixth house has Venus (lord of second
and seventh) in the constellation of the Moon
(very good), debilitated (bad) in Mercury's
navamsha (close friend). The house is
aspected by malefic Saturn, Mars and also a
benefic planet Jupiter. The sixth lord
Mercury is posited in fifth house (Leo sign)
with Sun, in constellation of Venus and
navamsha of Mars with Rahu. The aspects of
Saturn and Mars on sixth house are causing
affliction.
The position of debilitated Venus, is bad for
2nd and 7th house. For aixth house Venus is
a benefic planet and will not cause affliction
to 6th house. Being weak, Venus may not be
able to give good results, but no bad results
can be experienced. Mars (lagna lord) aspect
on 6th means that the native with his hard
work can fight back the odd situation and
/ his enemies.
Conclusion: The position of the house is bad
while that of the lord is better. This house
represents enemy, debt, diseases etc. The
effects of the Saturn (lOth and 11th), Mars
(lagna), Jupiter (9th and 12th), Venus (2nd and
7th), Mercury (3rd and 6th) will give mixed
results.
Results -
(l) The native met with accidents. (Venus
karaka for conveyances debilitated in 6th
and afflicted by Saturn and Mars).
(2) He had to face problems due to property
(Venus) resulting into loss of money
(Venus lord of 2nd), not due to theft but
by cheating done to him by others.
(vii)The seventh house has no planet, lord of
the house Venus is posited in sixth house,
debilitated in Mercury's sign, in
constellation of the Moon, in navamsha of
Mercury. Mars aspects Venus. Jupiter and
Saturn aspects the seventh lord and the
seventh house. The aspect of the Moon on
jP the seventh house is also a good position. The
seventh house receives effects from Venus.
Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and the
Moon.
D,C, Conclusion: Here the seventh house is
having malefic and benefic effects. A mixed
~ j result is expected. The native will be
ttl enjoying happiness and facing trouble

Jupiter, Moon and lagna lord Mars. The
Ii) Moon lord of fourth posited in lagna, Saturn

H Moon, promise a beautiful wife, who may be

in because of the aspects of Mars and Saturn.
nf The effect of Mercury on Venus, (since in rasi
and navamsha, Venus is posited in the sign
of Mercury) will make his wife intelligent
and educated one. The effect of Saturn will
delay the marriage. Venus, seventh lord
debilitated in sixth and afflicted by Saturn
and Mars will pose danger to wife of the
native through disease. Venus being lord of
7th is maraka and posited in the house of
disease, hence may cause problem of his
health also.
Results - The marriage took place on 10th
Feb. 1989 in 28th year followed by an
accident just after two months.
(viil)The eighth house has neither a planet nor
aspected by any planet, i.e. is not giving any
hint for prediction. If there is no malefic
effect, there is no benefic effect either, the
sign belongs to Mars, a malefic planet, which
is responsible for accidents, hurts, wounds
etc. The sign is a watery sign and also a
fixed sign (good and favourable). The lord
Mars is posited in Mercury's sign (enemy),
in own constellation (good) and in own
navamsha (very good) but with Rahu and
Mercury (not good). In rasi chart Mars is
aspected by Saturn(R). The effect on 8th
house is of Mars only. Jupiter aspects. the
eighth lord Mars (is very good). The
combined effects of Mars, Mercury, Rahu,
Saturn and Jupiter show overall malefic
effects, but Jupiter's influence gives solace.
There is favourable position due to position
of Mars in own navamsha, association of
Mercury. It is in own co.nstellation in
Mercury's sign and receives aspect of
Jupiter in rashi chart.
Conclusion: The native will have mixed
results -
(1) Long married life, but disturbed
intermittently.
(2) Longevity good, but there is threat to it
sometimes due to accidents (it can be
assured only after doing proper analysis
of the horoscope for longevity). .
(3) Sudden changes in the life pattern and
in profession may also be there (8th lord
posited in 3rd, from where aspecting 9th
and 10th houses).

Results : The native had met with two
d: accidents, also experienced diversion and
I changes in profession and education. Enjoying
every thing but With jolts and turns.
(ix) Ninth house (connected with the
Prarabdha1) has also a very important role
to play. The house has no planet. Mars
aspects this house. Saturn being retrograde
has some effect on 9th house causing
affliction, resulting in delay in the
fructification of events of ninth house. Mars'
9; aspect has a dual role, one as lagna lord and
. ~ r other as eighth lord. Being lagna lord posited
'.H in third (prarkrama bhava) aspects ninth
,(* house (bhagyasthana) showing that the
0' native will be self made or will work hard to
' h ~ make his fortune. The eighth lord causes
hindrance, delay etc.
Saturn as 10th lord having effect on 9th
house and 9th lord, shows that Saturn will
help the native to make his fortune (9th
house).
The lord of ninth Jupiter is under the
influence of Saturn in rasi as well as in
navamsha and also vargottama. Jupiter is
posited in the constellation of Rahu and has
aspects of the Sun (friend) and Mercury
(enemy). The association of ninth and fifth
lord is a very favourable position. Mercury
and Jupiter's association with influence of
5th and 9th houses, will attract the native
to learn astrology.
1 Results of the accumulated karmas of past births transferred to

results of the ninth house i.e. religious
inclination, rise in life, higher and religious
education.
Results: Native passed 12th and did diploma
(could not do higher education due to effect
of eighth lord), joined service, had promotion
and transfer, left the job and joined another
job with change of place, left the job again
due to disturbance in Punjab, joined later
at the place where parents were residing on
a lower post but at the same emoluments.
He also passed astrology course of two years.
(x) The lord of the tenth is posited in own
house. The house is strong. The position of
Ketu and the aspect of Mars are afflictions.
There is no benefic aspect. Saturn is in the
constellation of the Moon (lord of fourth
which is posited in lagna) and in the
navamsha Saturn is debilitated in the sign
of Mars.
Conclusion: The native will face difficulty in
his career and face opposition. The aspect of
lagna lord is favourable, but the eighth lord
Mars will cause obstructions and changes, the
position is not very favourable.
The effect of Mars on Saturn shows that the
native will get results of his deeds and hard
work (due to Mars being lagna lord). There will
be delay and changes or obstructions (due to
Mars being 8th lord). But Mars will give more
results of Aries sign (Mooltrikona sign) which
is also lagna.
The actual events have been discussed
supra.
The ninth and tenth houses are considered
for father. In south the astrologers use ninth
for father and in north India, the tenth house
:JrJ is taken for father. I have already discussed
41< this aspect in the book on "Predictive
' I ~ astrology". The ninth is inheritance from
father i.e. caste, religion, wealth, assets or
liabilities, temperament, genes etc. The
tenth house, is also taken as representing
father. The tenth is seventh from fourth,
husband of the mother. The fourth is eighth
from ninth (inheritance). The seventh house
represents spouse; the happiness and
marital cord is represented by eighth house.
Both the houses ninth and tenth should be
analysed and used for predictions about the
father. The fourth house is mother, the
seventh from fourth is tenth (father, genes
inherited) i.e. the husband of mother. The
longevity or association of the parents and
. their general happiness are judged from
fourth and tenth houses. The gain from
father is ninth house. The association of
father is from tenth house. The health etc.
of the father is from tenth house.
The physical body of the native is the result
of both mother and father. if the parent has
sound health, the children will also have
sound health. The appearance, physical
construction of the body etc. all will be familiar
to the parent (lOth house).
The ninth house depicts the position of

. father i.e. religion, financial position,
comforts and happiness etc. When the native
attains adulthood and becomes capable of
doing independent actions, the ninth and
tenth combine. The native gets the results
according to his karmas. The physical
association (lOth house) and the comforts
(9th house) from father, are judged
accordingly.
Conclusion: The native will be either away
from father or there will be some disturbed
relations or there may be some health
problem to father.
(xi) The eleventh house has Jupiter, the lord
of ninth and twelfth, aspected by Sun,
Mercury and Saturn (retrograde). The
eleventh lord is posited in own sign, in the
nakshatra of the Moon, afflicted by eighth
aspect of Mars and in navamsha of Mars
(debilitated in navamsha). Jupiter in
eleventh is retrograde and afflicted by
Saturn and Sun. Only aspect of Mercury
which is again inimical. .
Conclusion: The affliction of eleventh lord
and eleventh house is bad for elder brothers
and sisters. Jupiter in eleventh makes the
native eldest among brothers. Jupiter being
karaka for eleventh is also afflicted. This
again denies any elder brother or sister to
him.
Results: The native is eldest.
(xii)Twelfth House has no planet. The aspects
of Venus and Saturn, have a major role to
play. The lord Jupiter in the house of Saturn
and navamsha of Saturn, in vargottama
position, a very strong position, but the
influence of Saturn is not desirable. The
aspect of Venus on a sign of its exaltation is
very favourable.

The following steps have been used to
delineate the horoscope using:
z. The position of planet in rasi chart.
ii. The nakshatra in which the planet is
posited.
iii. The association (PAC) with other
planets.
zu. The navamsha sign occupied by the
planet or the position of the planet in
navamsha chart.
Taking into consideration the planets,
navamsha and nakshatra concerned, the results
have been found and predictions given. It is
found that most of the results received after
the analysis tallied with the actual events
happened during the life of the native of the
chart under discussion.

CHAPTER 4
DEEPER ANALYSIS
A
fur t her step to delineate the complete chart,
to clinch all these factors is required. The
idea behind the earlier discussion was without
looking into the combined effect of other houses,
whether we can find correct prediction. ,It is seen
that predicting any event becomes very easy if
the promise (prarabdha) in the chart is traced.
The analysis upto the discussed stages has
given us a complete picture about the tendenciesl
probabilities regarding the events which can take
place during the life of the native. There are
many other methods to be followed for giving
'predictions. I will discuss them.
. The confirmation of the earlier findings
-c e n be done through a final step for
delineation which follows as under:
lA Lagna : From this house, the judgement will
be made for the general health of the native,
which is a primary factor. For judgement of
any bhava the following factors are to be
considered:
(a) The bhava
(b) Lord of the bhava
(c) The sthir karaka
Nate: There are many other karakas
mentioned in astrological text books.
(d) Bhavat bhavam (house to house). Here
first from first is first (i.e. lagna). Fourth
from fourth house is seventh house ( i .e ,
results of fourth house), ninth from ninth is
fifth and so on.
(e) The concerned bhava from karaka
planet. (for father Sun is the karaka. 9th
from Sun is also father).
B The intormation about the position of lagna
can be judged from:
i) Lagna
ii) .Lagna lord
iii) The Moon
The Sun may also be considered, but for
health and physical structure of the body
only the Moon is to be taken. In case all the
three show a similiar position, which is not
found very favourable, the reference should
be made to the position of the Sun.
Otherwise, Sun is taken as the soul of the
native. It reveals the nature, inclination and
feelings of the native.
iv) The second house (first from first). The
second house is the house of intake. The food
habits of the native are seen from this
. ~
house. The health of the native surely
depends on this intake or his food habits.
v) The Moon sign or the Sun sign.
Analysis: The Iagna is Aries, amovable
sign, fiery sign, kshatriya, brave,
prishtodaya, Rajo Guna, the birth is of night
time so strong lagna, billious etc. In
navamsha it has gone to Scorpio, a watery,
fixed, Brahmin, hidden nature (weak as
birth is of night time). It shows that the
native will not be of very serious nature,
but having strong physique and mind. The
lagna is in the constellation of Venus (good).
The lagna lord is posited in Mercury's sign
and in its own nakshatra and n avamsha and
is aspected by Jupiter. The native will have
good physique, sound health. The position
of the karaka Moon is very good, so disease-
free body.
Conclusion: The native will have sound
health, disease-free body. The effect of
Saturn on lagna lord, Rahu in association
with Mars in navamsha may cause some
skirmishes. The native will be, otherwise
doing well. He will be slim, of moderate
height and handsome.
2 The second house is well posited, the lord
of second will have mixed effects. The karaka
of the second house Jupiter is well placed.
The second house from second has Mars (not
good) and the second from Jupiter is aspected
by Venus (good) and Saturn (not good as it
is malefic but as lord of 11th will be good).
The financial position of the native will
be good, but not very sound. The position
will be further confirmed from the ninth and
eleventh houses.
3 The karaka for the third house Mars posited
in the third, which is undesirable as regards
co-borns are concerned. Either the native
l.l will have no younger brother immediately
after him or will have trouble from them. The
aspect of Jupiter has promised to improve
the position. The lord of third is also well
posited and unafflicted. I would like to invite
a reference to earlier discussions regarding-
this house. No repetition will be done here.
Further confirmation can be had from
Drekkana or Dreshkona (D/3), which will
be dealt with in other chapter on "Dynamic
Configuration" (Chapter 5).
Jupiter is a planet which sprinkles holy
water (Ganga jal) and certainly gives good
results of the house aspected by it. Inspite
of the affliction, the native may get the
result of that house (because of grace of
Jupiter), will also face troubles (because of
afflictions). Mars' position in third, Jupiter's
aspect (nullifying the bad effect of Mars),
Mercury posited with Sun and aspected by
Jupiter means the native will have three
co-barns. (Native, his sister, brother and
then sister). There are other methods of
estimating the number of co-horus which will
also be discussed in later chapters. No single
principle or formula works, it should be
further confirmed with two or three methods.
Astrologers should not do haste to give
predictions. They should think seriously and
after 'proper scrutiny the prediction should
be given to maintain the prestige of this
great science.

If we see third from third (5th house) or third
from karaka Mars (5th house), we find Sun
in own house with Mercury and aspected by
Jupiter. No malefic effect. There is promise
for having younger brothers and sisters.
'i4 The fourth house is very important house.
The karakas for this house are the Moon and
Venus.
A For Mother: Karaka is the Moon.
The analysis of the fourth house has already
been done. It was found that the fourth house
has a very disturbed position. While giving
fit prediction, special attention will be p aid to
s find what aspect concerning the fourth house
will cause trouble or disturbance tt'> the
comforts of the fourth house. If native is to
face trouble, he will get first the benefits of
that house. Let us say "trouble from
brother". this means he will first have
brother, then the question of trouble comes.
To distinguish the results of each situation,
the different karakas are given by the sages
and also different divisional charts or vargas
to locate and confirm the actual position.
A reference to the discussion re garding
fourth house made earlier may be referred
to. The further delineation of this bhava with
some of the advanced techniques is done in
chapter 5 on "Dynamic Configuration".
(a) Fourth from fourth: The seventh
house has the aspect of the Moon, Jupiter
and Saturn. The lord of seventh Venus is
debilitated and afflicted by Mars. Jupiter
and Saturn also aspect the lord of the
seventh. This is not a very comfortable
position. The aspects of Jupiter and the Moon
are auspicious and beneficial and will mitigate
the evil effects.
(b) Karaka: The Moon is the karaka for
mother. The Moon is strongly placed in rasi
chart as well as navamsha. Neither a malefic
aspect nor a benefic. The position indicates
no problem to mother's health.
(c) Fourth house from the karaka : The
house is afflicted by Rahu. The lord of this
house the Moon is well posited (good). There
is aspect of Jupiter and Saturn on the house
(mixed results).
B. For Conveyance, Property etc.: In
addition to earlier discussion we will discuss
the karaka Venus only. Venus is debilitated,
afflicted by Mars in rasi as well as in
navamsha. Jupiter and Saturn aspect in
rashi chart as well as in navamsha. The
native will have own house and conveyance,
but their may be some problems from them.
Conclusion : The native will enjoy the
company of and happiness from mother.
There may not be much problem to the
health of the mother.
The affliction to the fourth house, karaka
Venus etc. shows trouble from conveyance
, etc.
In general, the affliction to fourth house
"indicates a trouble because of the unhappy
atmosphere in the house. Hence, on one

account or the other, the wo rries will
surround him.
The native will certainly have land, property
etc., will not be successful if he starts his
own factory, establishment etc. This
indicates he will be doing job for others
(meaning service).
Fifth House: Education, Progeny etc.
Education: The earlier discussion in this
regard concluded that the native will be
intelligent. He may face difficulties during
the course of education.
Progeny: The fifth house is in a very
comfortable position.
Fifth from fifth: The ninth house is
afflicted by Mars and Saturn. The lord of the
ninth is afflicted by Saturn.
Karaka; Jupiter, the karaka for progeny, is
vargottama (strong) aspected by Sun,
Mercury and Saturn (mixed).
Fifth from karaka: Mars is positedin this
sign with the aspect of Saturn. Jupiter's
aspect is a saving grace. The lord of this
house is posited with friend Sun and receives
aspect of karaka Jupiter.
Fifth from the Moon: The same as from
lagna.
Conclusion: The native has effect of Sun,
Mercury, Jupiter, Mars and Saturn. Sun
certainly gives a son. Sun represents the
father and forefathers. The ashirvada of
forefathers will certainly give a son for the

There are so many karakas for the tenth
house, the natives can have different types
of modes of earning or professions
represented by these karakas. I will submit
my views to indicate the use of the planets
"karakas"for different type of professions.
Sun: If the Native's tenth house shows
association with Sun, he may have
connection of his work with Govt.,
mountains, hills, forests, courts, exhibitions,
social gatherings, fort etc. if the native is
connected with Medical profession, he will
be a doctor of eyes, bones, heart diseases etc.
He can be in army or in a commanding
position.
Mercury: He will be connected with
mercantile activities, public speaker,
commercial things, churches, schools,
playgrounds, gambling dens, dealer in
vegetables, oilseeds, edible oils, currency,
alloys and brass, green products etc. He can
be a clerk, poet, intellectual, educationist,
author, tradesman etc. If a doctor, he will
be dealing with skin diseases, nervous
system etc. The native may be dealing in
communication systems.
Jupiter: It is considered for philosophers,
aptitude for every science, knowledge and
wisdom. He is preceptor of God/devas. He
will bf connected with banking, treasury,
education or be a goldsmith etc.
Mars: The native will be an ambassador,
military officer, engaged in commercial
activity, aerial journeys, weaving, public
speaker, commander-in-chief of celestial
army etc. He may be having factories,
furnaces, dealing in engines, boilers etc. The
native may have profession connected with
copper, metals, mines, minerals, coral,
weapons, land, tobacco etc.
Saturn: The native may be in service
connected with air, mountains and hills,
forests regions, dirty places, iron, sapphire,
cremation grounds. burial places, prisons,
old people etc. He may be a dealer of black
gram, hemp, barley, oils etc. If a doctor he
will be a specialist of excretory system,
teeth, muscles, bladder, wrist and feet,
asthma, tuberculosis, epilepsy or hysteria,
pains in the joints (Arthritis) and ulcers.
For each profession, the different karakas
concerned will be used.
The selection of profession can be made on
this basis. The planet which is strongest or
connected with 10th will indicate the
profession. if there are more than one planet,
that are strong, there can be more than one
activity.
METHODOLOGY TO FIND PROFESSION
Use of tenth house: From this house, an
astrologer can decide about the profession.
The planets connected with tenth will
indicate the type of profession. The study of
the house, karakas of the house, the
concerned house from this house (lOth from
10th) and 10th from karaka (Bhavat
bhavam), reveals not only the type of

profession but success in profession also.
Forfinding out the type of profession of the
native the study will depend upon many
things:
i) Source of earnings
ii) Social activities
iii) Religious activities
iv) Political activities
v) Missionary activities
vi) Ftlm and T.V. serials
vii) Preceptor, teacher or guru etc.
Each of the above activities are governed by
different planets. The native may be doing
one main activity for earning livelihood and
simultaneously be engaged in social or
political activities.
In the present case (example horoscope), the
native's tenth lord is Saturn (in the
constellation of the Moon - liquid, milk,
chemicals etc.). Jupiter is posited in the
eleventh house, but being retrograde gives
effects on tenth, posited in the constellation
of Rahu (who is posited in the watery sign of
the Moaa and affects 10th house. The Sun is
in the constellation of Ketu, who is posited
in 10th house. Jupiter is aspected by Sun
(govt.) and Mercury (commercial activity,
trading etc.). Jupiter has control over 9th,
12th, 11th, 10th, 2nd, 4th and 5th, all
connected with profession. The native is
working in the milk plant and connected
with the company which is owned by
\
government and dealing with distribution of
the milk.
The effects of ninth lord Jupiter, on fifth lord
Sun, Sun and Mercury combination aspected
by Jupiter, in fifth from lagna and also from
tne Moon have made him interested in
spirituality and astrology.
The tenth house and tenth lord are aspected
by Mars (lagna and 8th lord). Jupiter's effect
(Bth lord and 12th lord) is also there. The
native will be doing pious and auspicious
actions. He will get respect and success in
profession. He may also face some changes,
hindrances and difficulties because of
affliction by Mars (Bth lord) and Jupiter
(l2th lord), or he may be having hard duties
to attend.
11 Eleventh House represents: gains, elders
etc. It is called Laabha bhava. Karaka for
this house is Jupiter. Jupiter is the karaka
for II, V, IX, X and XI. It shows that the
eleventh house gives the total results of that
all bhavas. The link of this house with any
bhava will enhance the result of that bhava.
The notion that the eleventh house is house
of wealth only is wrong. It's results are not
concerned with only one type. No other
planet is the karaka for eleventh except
Jupiter. Jupiter rules over second (wealth),
fifth (education, children etc.). ninth
(religion, luck), tenth (karma, actions) and
eleventh (elders, gains and increase). In my
opinion, if we consider the eleventh as the
house of growth it will be better. The
eleventh house increases results of the
houses that are connected with it. It is found
that if native catches disease during the
period of (dasha of) eleventh lord, the disease
gets prolonged.
Note: Another very interesting analysis can
also be done. From Aries (the first sign of
Zodiac), the tenth house falls in the sign
:1. . Capricorn. Capricorn has constellations of
the Sun (energy and soul), the Moon (mind,
"desire, inclination) and Mars (cap ability to
do action or energy). The sign is ruled by
Saturn (service, profession). In olden days
agriculture was the main profession of all.
Some lower caste people used to serve the
upper caste. Farmer are represented by
Saturn. Jupiter represents Brahmins, Mars
represents Kshatriyas. Sun represents kings
and Mercury business community. In
eleventh sign we get the constellation of
Mars (coborns, friends, energy or strength),
Rahu (miseries, doubts etc.) and lastly of
Jupiter (elders, wealth, welfare etc.). Jupiter
is the planet of growth. Mars and Rahu also
cause, increase in the results. The effect of
Satu'l:n gives chronicity. The result is that
the eleventh house causes prolonged
sickness. While analysing the position of the
eleventh house a careful judgement of
planetary influences is necessary.
The eleventh is seventh from fifth (poorva
janma punyas i.e. the good deeds done in the
past birth). This is the fifth house from
seventh (spouse). The seventh is third from
fifth and the lagna is third from eleventh.
The third house is co-worker, friend, partner,
arms etc. The karmas done in the past birth
by the native and his spouse (7th is 3rd from
5th) were done together. The results of such
karmas will be borne by them together,
during the present birth. So the fifth,
seventh, eleventh and ascendant are the
houses having very close associations.
Eleventh is the house of punya balas
(good deeds of past birth) of the past life
of the spouse i,e, fifth house from
seventh. Seventh is third from fifth
meaning friend or partner in the (deeds
of) planning done in the past birth. So
also the ascendant (seventh house from
seventh i;e. of spouse). The first is the
ninth (religion) from fifth house. The
seventh is the ninth from eleventh house.
The 7th house is the house of partner. The
lagna is seventh from seventh (partner). The
relation of the husband, wife, children and
parents is all according to the karmas done
in the past life or lives. We call it
Rinanubandhan (bond towards each other
because of Karmic Relations of the past life
or lives.
(i) Jupiter karaka of the house is posited
in this house. According to the principle
Karko bhava Nashaya (the karaka
destroys the effect of the bhava
concerned, if it happens to be posited
there). The position of Jupiter in
eleventh is not good, as regards the elder
brother. Jupiter is aspected by Saturn,

.J;j a malefic planet and Mercury, Sun (a
,1:' friend) but a malefic planet and Mercury
dJ (enemy). According to earlier
discussions it is clear that the lord of
eleventh is afflicted. The picture is not
,,' favourable regarding elder brother is
. d concerned.
(ii) The eleventh house from eleventh i.e.
ninth house. The house and lord of the
house both are afflicted.
(iii) The eleventh from Jupiter, the karaka
for elders, i.e. the ninth house again.
The position as already discussed is not
good.
Conclusion: The native will not have any
elder brother.
The native is eldest and has a sister, a
brother and a sister after him.
As regards other results of eleventh house,
the association of ninth lord and fifth lord
(Jupiter and Sun) is very good. The native
will have benefic results of the fifth and
ninth though the ninth house is afflicted.
'I'h e association of the 3rd and 6th lord
Mercury may spoil to some extent the good
effects of Jupiter and Sun.
12 Twelfth house is the house of expenditure
and Moksha (liberation, renunciation etc.)
What do we understand from this? The
meaning, applied generally by most of the
astrologers is that the planet posited in 12th
loses strength and does not give the effect of
the house owned by that planet.

accepted, or do not seem to be correctly

accept any reasonable suggestion.
A. The ultimate goal can be achieved by a
native with all sincere efforts applying:
f-' Mansa Vacha Karmana
or
Tan Man Dhan
meaning Mind (heart), speech, actions and
body, desire or ambition and wealth. Dhan
or wealth is nothing but the resources
available with the native.
(a) Mansa (mind) - Fourth house
represents heart and feelings of the native.
The surroundings in which he lives. The
mother of the native, who nourishes him,
gives 'Samskaras' and good teachings. The
Moon and the Sun are the planets concerned
with this.
(b)&(c) Vaacha (Speech) & Dhan (Wealth)
- The second house is the house which
shows whether the native will have friends
or foes. If a native speaks nicely, softly and
with love, he will be able to increase the
number of friends. The second house is
recitation of Mantras, worship and Keertan
which gives relief to the native. The eyes are
also represented by this house. The native
with his speech, wealth (the things in his
possession) and looks etc. can give peace and
solace to others. Jupiter is the karaka of this
house. For speech, Mercury is the karaka of
2nd house.
The nature of Jupiter, a planet of religion,
children, education, wealth, charity,
scriptures and sympathy is to give comfort,
peace and happiness etc. to the native and
others.
(d) Karma (Actions) - The third house (a
company or association, hands, arms
parakrama etc.), the sixth house (stamina
and resistance power by which the native can
tlf suppress ill feelings and enemies). The
enemies are Kaam, Krodh, Lobh, Moh, Madd
& Dhambh wTc-T. c;J)1:.T. l1ffix
The tenth house is actions, duty etc.
(e) Tan ('1''': (Physical body & astral body):
The native can take action because of the
composite effects of all the parts of the body.
The mind controls and the body acts. There
are five "Karmendriyas" (limbs through
which man does actions) eyes, nose, hands,
ears and feet. There are five
"Gyanendriyas" which warn us before
doing any action. These make us to
distinguish between right and wrong. If
there is no control of the mind on all these
ten senses, the man will not be able to do
proper karmas. This all depending upon the
Sun, Soul of the native and the Moon
(Thinking and Prana). These two luminaries
represent as karakas for the first house.

(f) Man 1=jO=J: (ambitions or desires) : The
working of the fifth house and ninth house
are concerned here. The fifth is samskaras
inherited because of past life or lives. The
thinking, intentions, intelligence, ambitions,
desire, planning etc. are represented by fifth
house. The ninth house shows how much
improvement can be made in the stock of
Puniyaphalas by the native in the present
birth. He can increase his punyaphalas
( l l U " l f ~ ) and mitigate the evils.
Eighth House: (Age) The native has a limit
of time to make his future and to enjoy
human birth. He can increase the
punyaphalas (results of good actions) of the
past birth by doing good karmas (actions) in
the present birth or as the case may be. The
native has been given limited number of
years for this i.e. longevity represented by
eighth house.
Seventh house: This is Marakasthana and
also represents the life partner who helps
the native in doing the actions and fulfilling
the duties.
Eleventh House: is the sum total of all the
actions. It indicates the possibilities of
enjoyment available to the native.
Eleventh is the house of fame and name.
The native because of his belongings i.e.
wealth, education or position or knowledge
or status in life can earn fame and enjoy or
store the balance.
Twelfth house: The balance which remains
after this is shown by the twelfth house. I

call it also Bhogya Sthana and not only
house of expenditure. The bed comforts again
mean enjoyments which are represented by
twelfth house. This is the exit from this
universe or say from physical body. This is
the house from where the soul gets liberated.
This house shows the fixed investments
or assets. This is the eighth house from
fifth, shows the inheritance which will
be enjoyed by the children of the native.
To cut short the discussion, I would like to
, . say that twelfth house is a very important
house. The last but not the least, it shows
the ultimate aim to be achieved. It may be
wordly achievements or spiritual. There are
certain planets whose position in this house
is always appreciated by the astrologers.
This house shows hospitalisation sufferings
and imprisonment also.
The karakas for this house are Saturn
(who takes forcibly towards yoga) and Venus
(who takes towards Bhoga i.e. enjoyments).
It is upto the native to chose either of the
two. The positions of Ketu (Moksha), Jupiter
(Gauloka), Mercury (Vishnu loka) in twelfth
are considered preferable. The Sun (Pitru
loka), Venus (Mrityu loka), The Moon (Shiv
loka) and Saturn, Rahu and Mars may be
showing difficult death and also sufferings
etc. in next birth.
The twelfth in the chart under discussion has
no planet. The karaka Saturn posited in own
house, but with Ketu and aspected by Mars
i.e. afflicted. Venus, the other karaka is also

h debilitated and afflicted by Saturn and Mars.
The aspect of Saturn and Venus on twelfth
house is favourable. The twelfth from Saturn
fj is afflicted, but the twelfth from Venus is
good. The twelfth from twelfth i.e. eleventh
Ii house lies in a favourable position. The
native may suffer in the old age, may be
'10' l\ hospitalised occasionally, but will have full

11.:;;' The native had an accident on 12th
January, 1996 suffered cracks at three places
in right arm and got plaster in hospital. The
right arm is the third house.. I
I have tried to delineate the chart. The work
if appreciated by readers, I would considex-
it to be the grace of God. They may pray to
god for a better future for astrology.
To save the space only one chart has been
discussed. In my experience, I have used this
method of delineation in my lectures to the
students and found giving a high percentage
of successful predictions.
Firstly we are supposed to know about the
promises in the chart, which is called
Prarabdha. After that the question of
timing of the event comes.
To summarise the discussion made on the
chart, it can be said as on next page:
Predictions:
The native will enjoy good health, with
minor injuries due to accidents etc., but at
times diseases connected with blood may be
foreseen. However there is, nothing to worry.
he would enjoy the company ofbrothers and
sisters. The parental happiness is also there,
but some problem may be there to the father.
This aspect needs further confirmation from
the horoscope of the father of the native.
The mother may be long lived, but father will
not be.
He will have two children, wife will be of
good nature and beautiful. She will be
intelligent and helpful in the financial.

The native will get a normal education. He
will be intelligent, hard working and may
be cheated by friends. Overall a religious,

What is configuration?

the English dictionary is :
branch of physics dealing with force as
producting or affecting motion. physical forces etc. II
CONFIGURATION: means "shape, aspect,
conformation, arrangements etc."
Both the meanings are very much connected
with the science of stars - the super science
Astrology. Astrologically "Dynamic configuration"
means to understand and interpret the Sutras
written in classical texts, by using different
charts as prescribed therein (to confirm the
results found after delineation) covering the
meanings and shape, aspect, combination of
planets forming yogas etc. By thi s arrangement

of confirmation of the results of delineation, a
perfect position of the "Prarabdha" (promise in
the birth chart) can be arrived at. '
The analysis of the birth chart by using Sutras
and Yogas given by learned savants of astrology,
including the divisional charts etc. will help in
giving a forceful interpretation of these principles.

(3) There are three types of bodies:
(i) Sthula (Physical)
(ii) Sookshma (Mental)
(iii) Karana (ethereal)
Essence of the supreme spirit or God, Soul
or Jeeva has been located in the body. At
the time of death, a seperation between
the gross physical and the finer spiritual
state takes place. After death the soul or
mental power with it karma (actuating
cause) leaves the body and goes away.
Mter liberation from the body, the mental
state, has its own peculiar flights into
higher regions determined and directed by
the karmas (which are to be merged in
Sanchi ta karmas) he (Sookshma
Shareera) did while it was in the body. The
previous karmas give them attractions to
regions which afford congenial mental
stages. Some persons see devils while
others never see them.
(iv) There are three Ganas: (Deva (Godly),
Manusha (Human) and Rakshasa (Devils).
These are classified according to the birth
star of the native. These do have their
effects on the behaviour of the native. The
evil spirits are attracted by Saturn and
Rahu more than any other planet. Saturn
is a black planet and absorbs all other
colours and reflects darkness. Rahu is
called dark planet Rahu and Ketu
give rise to the phenomena of eclipses. The
darkness favours devils whereas light

dispels them.
It is clear that if Saturn or Rahu or Ketu
occupy lagna the attractions of evil spirits
is expected. Their own rays are congenial to
the tastes of devils but troublesome to men.
(v) Karana (Ethereal) state can be achieved

(vi) The Sookshma (spiritual or mental) state
is the medium between grosser body
(composed of Pancha Mahabhootas) and
the karana.
CONJUNCTION OF PLANETS IN LAGNA
(4) If we keep in mind the aforesaid discussion
it would help in finding the nature, mental
thinking and behaviour of the native. These all
have full control in making the body of the native
i.e. lean or fat or stout or disease free etc.
The planets if conjoined with other planets
and posited in Iagna will give results as
under:
(i) Sun posited in lagna aspected by Mars -
causes asthma, consumption, enlargement
of spleen or stomach, disorder or
complaint in anus. (Brihat Jataka ch. 23/
ver.8 states similiar combinations).
(ii) Mars and Sun in lagna, aspect of Saturn-
attack by weapons etc.

spirits.
(iv) If the sign of lagna is movable or lagna or
lagna lord occupies a movable sign -
native will be a traveller. If navamsha of
the lagna be also in movable sign - the
possibilities will be more.
Note: Malefics in lagna and aspected or
conjunct by another malefic is bad.
(v) If lagna and lagna lord in movable sign -
native will earn wealth in foreign
countries. If otherwise, he becomes.
wealthy in his own country.
(vi) If the involvement is of dual signs - he
will get wealth from many countries, but
not necessarily by respectable means.
Conclusion: The strongly placed lagna,
lagna lord and also having good aspects,
will make the native, always happy. He
will have disease free body. Otherwise the
native may be unhappy.
House-wise Discussions:
5. First house: In view of the discussion made
earlier, the native of chart - has movable lagna,
Venus in l agna, no malefic aspect, lord of lagna
with Jupiter indicates the native will be
physically sound and have stout body. The aspect
of Saturn on lagna lord and the malefics on both
sides of the lagna make the body lean and also
pose threat of disease.
As .discussed earlier the three factors for
judgement of each bhava i.e. bhava, lord of the
bhava and karaka of the bhava are to be considered.
Here bhava is sandwitched between malefics
and the lord (Moon) and karaka for health (Moon)
and karaka for first house (Sun) are afflicted.
Mixed results as regards health are
concerned. The native will face difficulty in
"rising in life" (meaning - the native will face
difficulties in making his future better).
Use of Hora chart
6. The second house, lord of the second house
and karaka of second house in rashi chart are to
be judged.
The lord is posited in twelfth (Mithuna -
Nirjala, airy sign), bad, afflicted by Mars. This
is not good. But the association of second lord
(wealth), fifth lord (education), and tenth lord
(karma) form a Dhanayoga and Rajayoga. This
yoga is afflicted by Saturn (lord of seventh and
eighth, a lean planet, sushka graha). It will cause
hindrances in education and earning wealth etc.
The position of Ketu in second is also bad. The
aspect of Jupiter (having a Gaja kesri yoga),
conjunct with lagna lord, on Mars and the Sun
(5th and 2nd lords) will give beneficial results.
This yoga of Sun and Mars though in a bad house,
afflicted by Saturn, still the aspect of 9th lord
Jupiter improves the position. 9th and 1st lord
together cause a Rajayoga, joining of 7th and 9th
lords again forms a Raja yoga. Jupiter with lagna
lord is favourable. Inspite of all odds, the native
will be able to make his fortunes. He will get
wealth from service and also from ancestral
properties.

The planets falling in pitar hora (Moon's
Hora) may mean that the soul is of someone

drekkena of Aquarius and last drekkena of
Libra will fall in Gemini sign in drekkena
chart.
In earlier case Venus in first drekkena of
Virgo will be having effect of Mercury and
Venus. Venus being debilitated will give
relations with wicked women. The
association of Venus with Mercury will make
the native intelligent but cunning. He may
be having wealth but may be by doing
unsocial deeds.
Venus is debilitated in rashi as well as in
dreshkona, will be in navamsha of
Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. Hence the
effects of Saturn and Jupiter will also make
difference.
If Venus in second dreshkona of Taurus
and posited in Virgo dreshkona, the position
is better. Venus was in own sign in rashi
chart and debilitated in dreshkona. In
navamsha, Venus will be either in Aries (10
to 13-20'), Taurus (13-20' to 16-40') or Gemini
(16-40' to 20).
Venus will inherit effects of (from navasmha)
Venus, Mars or Mercury, (from dreshkona)
the effect of Mercury. Mars will make him
sexually strong or over sexy. Mercury's effect
will make him intelligent and attractive.
Mercury and Venus combine may give jewels
and gems. Mars association will bless him
with good children.
The effect of the constellations will also have
a major role to play.
Note: It is seen that the position of Venus
in these two signs Gemini and Virgo is
not good for married life. It may be as the
classic text says that "loved by wicked
women", which will cause discord in the
married life of the native.
Jupiter: The two benefic planets (Venus
and Jupiter) are joining in this combination.
The position of Venus in the sign of Jupiter
(in dreshkona) will be having the following

Venus, according to classical text in dreshkona
ofJupiter will make the native distinct, charming,

Jupiter and in navamshas Capricorn
(Saturn) Aquarius (Saturn) and Pisces
(Jupiter).
If we study the two situations discussed in
(a) to (c) and (d) to (f), the reason why the
sages treated Venus exalted in Pisces is very
clear. Venus is at 27 of Pisces is in deep
exaltation, when it is vargottama, in
constellation ofMercury and in dreshkona
of Mars. The effect of Mercury and Mars
makes the position of Venus very strong.
Venus will be in Pisces dreshkona only if it
is posited in rasi chart, in the signs Pisces,
Scorpio and Cancer. This will mean that
Venus will inherit the effects of Jupiter,
Mars and Moon.
Venus by its natural characteristics
indicates wealth, beauty, art, ambitious
nature. It gets knowledge or grace of goddess
Saraswati (from Jupiter), strength to fullfil
the ambitions and energy and strength (from
Mars) and the charm, attraction, beauty.ietc.
(from Moon). The intelligence is acquired
through Mercury.
Venus (own dreshkona) : The native will be
inclined towards spiritualism, will be
energetic, rich, moralist, leader of his own
people, free from vices and will be charming.
Saturn: (Venus in friend's dreshkona). The
person becomes a dul te rou s , envious,
miscreant, remains in bad company, will be
imprisoned on charge of murder or may be
assassinated etc.
Saturn in dreshkona of :
Sun: If Sun's dreshkona IS acquired by
Saturn-
(i) If Saturn is posited in Leo (Sun) sign in
first dreshkona, enemy's sign also in the

constellation (of Ketu) and in navamshas

means Saturn will inherit the effects of
the Sun, Ketu, Mars Venus and Mercury.
Sun and Saturn are enemies, will cause
struggles and obstructions in life. Saturn
and Mars (Saturn treats Mars as enemy
whereas Mars is neutral to Saturn) will
make the native wicked, rude, harsh and
courageous. Saturn and Venus
combination will give him many
daughters and happiness. The Saturn
and Mercury combination can give
impotency. Ketu will make him
intelligent.
(ii) If Saturn is posited in second dreshkona
of Aries (Mars) debilitated in enemy's

navamsha). In this case Saturn will
inherit the effects of Jupiter, Venus, Sun
and Mars.
According to classical texts: Saturn if
posited in dreshkona of Sun will make the
native to struggle hard to achieve desired
results. He will have many daughters. He
will be happy, wicked and dull.
It means the position of Saturn in enemy's
dreshkona is not good. But if we take
navamsha, constellation and the sign in
which Saturn is posited in rasi chart, the
good effect can be also visible.

Sarvartha Chinatamani sloka 5/chapter 4

In navamsha chart, Mars is lagna lord and
Saturn lord of third and fourth posited in lagna.
There is exchange of signs by Saturn- and Mars.
This shows the native will have comforts of the
fourth house i.e. mother, house, conveyance, etc.
The position of Venus in Leo is not good. The
exchange of houses by Venus and the Sun has
negated the evil results. Mars is neutral to Venus
and Saturn is friend to Venus. In exchange of
houses by the Sun and Venus, the Sun is weak.
According to Lomas Samhita- If lord of the
fourth house is in lagna or in seventh house, the
native becomes learned, will not speak in
meetings and will destroy the wealth of father.
But according to Yavana Jatakam, the position
of fourth lord in lagna bestows comforts of
vehicle, fame, disease-free body, happiness from
parents and gains from parents.
Garga Jatakam - He loves father and son.
He is famous because of the name of father.
He has enemity with uncles. (this is the view
of l\fanasagari).
The native has completed engineering. Both
the parents are earning members, sold ancestral
properties, purchased a flat few years back and'
now shifted to another kothi. They enjoy all
comforts and happiness in the family.
There is no need of further clarification, if
everything is clear from Rashi chart and
navamsha. Still we will study (vargas) divisional
charts to confirm the earlier findings. The
discussion of chaturthamsa for learning sake

The good position of Venus and also its affliction,
the position of fourth lord in twelfth, the 12th
lord Jupiter aspects fourth house and also forms
Gajakesari Yoga (if yoga is considered in
vargas it shows that in Rasi chart,
navamsha and chaturthamsa, Jupiter and
the Moon has connections), this gives an
indication that the native will be owning a house
or getting it from parents, such as inherited
property and so on. This is also the case with
the native. His parents had shifted to a flat from
ancestral property. Recently (1996) they have
sold the flat and shifted to a bigger house.
USE OF DWADSAMSHA CHART
(8) Uptil now we discussed about the fourth
house for their property and conveyance only,
treating Venus as a karaka. Fourth house also
represents mother. In divisional chart
dwadashamsha (D/12) is the chart from which the
predictions for parents can be given. The
discussion on dwadashamsha is as under:

in navamsha, the karaka the Moon, is to be
considered for judging the position as regards

lagna lord in fourth with ninth lord, shows that
theparents will be very helpful and attached to

In Dwadashamsha chart ofthe example horoscope:

Mercury. Debilitation is cancelled. The

aspected by Jupiter. The position is very
favourable. The Moon inall the charts in D/
1, D/3, D/4 and D/12, is having connection
with Jupiter.
The Moon is of shukla Paksha also.
u. The lagna lord of Dwadashamsha, Saturn is
positedin own sign and receives no malefic
aspect. Jupiter and the Moon are in Kendra.
Mercury and Venus together posited in
Trine. The malefics in sixth and twelfth. The
position is very favourable for both the
parents.
iii. For father, we may also consider here, as the
discussion relates to Dwadashamsha chart,
which is concerned with both the parents.
The ninth house in rashi chart has no planet,
but sandwitched between two malefics. The lord
of the ninth is posited in kendra with the Moon
(lagna lord). The position is satisfactory. The
karaka 'the Sun' is with Mars and aspected by
Saturn. (Not good, actually bad). The aspect of
Jupiter on the Sun, on 9th from the Sun and
position of ninth lord from the Sun is favourable.
In dwadashamsha, the position of the Sun is
bad i.e. with Rahu and aspected by Mars.
The father will be very helpful and the native
will have respect for the parents. The father may
not progress much but the mother may. be in a
better position or controlling all the affairs.
Ultimately a nappy family. '
If we also study the position of tenth house,
we will find that the lord Mars is with Sun,
aspected by Mars (not good) but aspected by
Jupiter and the Moon. The position of Mars, the
tenth lord of rasi chart in Aquarius navamsha
(not good) but aspected by Jupiter and Venus
(some relef). In dwadsamsa chart Mars is
afflicted. The position of tenth lord, tenth house
and lagna in dwadsamas is very good.
The use of dwadashamsha is very helpful
in giving predictons about the parents.

marriage can only get liberation or Moksha for forefathers.
Fifth house: Another example for discussion is
taken, as in earlier case (chart discussed in
chapter 5), the native was married in 1997.
This is a very important divisional chart
which concerns the fifth house of the birth chart.
Jataka Parijata says that this divisional chart
is useful to ascertain the character or
temperament of the native. He will be cruelly
disposed ifborn in a krura saptamsha. This also
reveals facts about one's brothers.
We will discuss, this varga mainly for
children. There may be a brief reference to
different versions in classical texts. Let us enjoy
the beauty of detailed interpretations by using
this divisional chart.

In above cases, it is seen that the fifth housel

aspect of Mars. The lord of the ninth is
posited in seventh (strong) with Venus (lagna
lord) shows that the lord is very strong.
e) The fifth house from Jupiter (Karaka):
The fifth house has Ketu (not good),
aspected by Jupiter (good) and aspects of
Mars (bad). The lord Venus is well posited
(as discussed supra). I
Conclusion: Saturn is in its own
constellation, 20 away from the Sun, hence
strongly posited. There is exchange of house,
by Jupiter and Saturn. (Though it concerns
with third and sixth only) So Saturn's
position in Jupiter's sign becomes
favourable. The native will have children,
sons and daughters, but some problem may
be experienced because of placement of fifth
lord in sixth, afflictions etc.
f) Saptamsa Chart: /1
i) The fifth lord of Rasi chart Saturn is

III SAPTAMSHA means each sign is divided
into seven parts. The counting will start from
Aries (same sign), Taurus (7th sign from it) i.e.
in case of odd, from the sign itself and in case of
even, from the seventh sign. Each division has
been given following names.
For odd signs the order will be :
(i) Kshara (ii) Kshira
(iv) Ajyam (v) Ikshu
(vii) Shuddha Jala.
For even signs this order is to be reversed i.e.
the (vii) will be (i) and (i) will be (vii).
The meanings and interpretations of these, seven
parts of each are according to their names:
i) Kshara (a-nx)- is troublesome, painful,
unbearable.

Saptamsha, Sagittarius Ist and 4th Saptamsha,
Capricorn's 6th Saptamsha, Aquarius' 2nd and
Pisces 4th and 7th Saptamsha only.
Aries and Scorpio have no such Saptamsha.
Venus - A romantic personality, sensuous,
luxurious, fond of music, art and humorous
person.
Saturn - The person will be dull, wicked,
immoral, stupid and lazy.
V Each sign has seven Saptamsha. Their
results cannot be the same. The reason is the
characteristics of the sign of the Rasi chart and
the sign of the Saptamsa chart in which it falls,
all are to be considered. Such as :

the planets which is debilitated in
saptamsha - indicates the position
about the brothers (Mars in this example
chart).
(:3) The planet which is in the last amsha
and is in own, exalted saptamsha-
The native will be owner of vehicles,
skilled in horse riding and driving Raath,
brave warrior and will not have brothers.
For example: Mercury in Virgo, Venus
in Pisces, Mars in Capricorn, Jupiter in
Cancer, the Sun in Libra, Saturn in Aries
etc. are exalted in Saptamsha.
(4) If all the seven planets are posited
in exaltation/in the signs of benefic
planets (SnuBH VARGAS) - the r.utive
will be honoured by the king and -:vill be
owner of wealth, comforts and skilled in
his work.
(5) If the Sun, Jupiter and Mars are
posited in third house of Saptamsha
- the person will be rich and enjoy all
comforts because of grace of Goddess
Laxmi (VJSHNU PRlYA) and Graha Laxmi.
He will be the speaker of Truth and enjoy
all comforts. He gets a son after the death
of father.
If Venus, the Moon and Mercury are
in third house of saptamsa - the
native will get a daughter.
(6) If the planets are posited in exalted
signs - the native will be wealthy.
In the chart under discussion, Jupiter
and Saturn are exalted, the Sun

house of navamsha chart, the native begets
one/three/fiye sons respectively. If the Moon/
Mercury/Venus and Saturn are in fifth house
- there will be two/four/six/seven sons.:
(4) If Leo becomes third house of navamsha
chart, Jupiter and Ketu in fifth (Libra),
Saturn in sixth and the Sun in 7th, Rahu in
kendra and Mars in tenth house - The
native never gets progeny (This is regarding
Mithuna lagna).
Note: Rahu cannot be in kendra, when Ketu

The classical text while discussing the
saptamsha have rarely talked about
progeny.
VIII If we do use our method based on the
classical principles on the chart under
discussion, the results will be :.
RASI CHART:
(a) Mars is posited in own house. The lord of the
fifth house is Neechabhilashi (weak)
posited with the Sun (enemy) and the Moon.
The fifth house is aspected by Mars, a male
planet (lord of kutumba sthana and kalatra
bhava). The lord of fifth Saturn is in own
constellation (uttara bhadrapada), so very
strong. In Jupiter's house, with the Sun who
exalts in Mesha (cancellation of debilitation)
with the Moon (cancellation of debilitation),
though Saturn is still not debilitated. The
position of Saturn in own constellation and
in Jupiter's sign is very favourable. The
association of the Sun and the sixth house
position is troublesome. The aspect of Mars
on fifth can also cause trouble.
(b) The total effect of the four planets is on fifth
house and fifth lord. The Moon is weak
should be ignored. The native has three
children.
IX In p r inci pie, the po sition is to be

In navamsha, Jupiter is vargottama, Saturn
is afflicted (in enemy's sign and aspected by
enemy). and being posited with Ketu.
In saptamsha -. The lagna lord Saturn is
exalted. Jupiter (karaka) is exalted. The fifth
lord in own house with Venus (lord of fourth and
ninth). The position has improved. The ninth
house has Saturn and the Moon.
The position of fifth lord Saturn in dual sign
with a male planet the Sun, aspect of Mars on
5th house, which is a male sign. In navamsha,
Saturn is posited in male sign and aspected by
the Sun. The 5th from 5th is a dual sign and male
. sign (in rashi chart), aspected by Mars. The lord
Mercury is posited in male sign. In saptamsha,
the fifth house is again a dual sign, which is a
male sign. The lord Mercury is posited in the
fifth. This all indicates towards birth of a twin
males.
In same way, the other bhavas and their
respective vargas can be used for interpretations.
USE OF YOGAS
Some of the Yogas present in the chart are
discussed as :
From the Sun:
i) Venus and Mercury in the second house from
the Sun cause Vesi yoga.
The native will be truthful, indolent, long
bodied, happy and will not have much wealth
(Parashara Hora) ..
The person will have outstanding
personality, will speak cherished language,
having powerful memory, enjoys sex
pleasures, satwick nature, slow motion, first
part of the body will be strong and has squint
eyes (Manasagari).
In general he should be happy, liberal,
favourite of king, prosperous. The position
of Venus will make him famous, skilled, well
established and brave. The position of
Mercury gives him sweet talk, beautiful
body, art of befooling others etc.
The Phaladeepika (of Mantreshwara)
describes him a good looking, happy,
meritorious, valiant, virtuous and like a king.
In Saravali, sage Kalyana Verma defines
such person as a ruler of the land with three
seas as its boundary. The results given above
are truly applicable in her case, but the
characteristics given in italics are very
prominent in her.

The yogas will give complete results or
not. This is not possible because of the weak
Moon. To some extent the results may be
modified. The above italicised effects are
seen in the chart under question.
Jupiter, Venus and Mercury in kendra from
lagna (the Moon should also be) cause
Rajalakshana yoga. The native will have
attractive appearance, all good qu ah ties,
will command dignity, respect and regard.
Some of the learned astrologers say that If
the lagna lord and the lord of twelfth
are in mutual kendras (here these two are
posited in seventh house), cause Parvata
yoga, the native will be wealthy, prosperous,
liberal, charitable, humorous.
v) Maha Bhagya Yoga: In case offemale, the
Sun, the Moon and lagna should be of even
sign and the birth should be of night time.
Here the Sun and the Moon are in even sign,
but lagna lord is not. According to this yoga,
the native will be blessed with long lived
children, wealth and good conduct.
vi) Bheri yoga: Venus, the lagna lord and
Jupiter are in kendra from each other, the
ninth lord Mercury is in seventh house (not
weak). Here Jupiter is weak. The results of
this yoga are that the native will be long
lived, free from disease, ruler, various
sources of income, happiness with wife and
children, exalted soul, generous and
religious.
vii) Some more yogas (according to Manasagari):
(a) If Mercury, Jupiter and Venus are
posited in kendra - the native will be
religious, famous, calm, wealthy,
educated, gentle and like a king or king
(sloka 20 - Rajayoga chapter).
(b) If the lagna lord is in lagna, kendra,
trikona or eleventh - the native will be
of good character, owner of vehicles,
skilled and will have all comforts. He will
be in high position. (sloka 1).
(c) The position of Venus and Mercury in
kendra bestows wealth, precious stones,
vehicles, servants, garden having good
fruits, will reside near the sea, will have

,w many friends and will speak truth.
(sloka-7).
(d) Jupiter in kendra - It is said that all
the planets put together cannot cause
Arishta to the native. (sloka 9 page 295 of
the commentary of Sh. Madhukant Jha).
(e) The Jupiter alone ifposited in kendra or
trikona gives results of Rajayoga.
(f) The position of Venus in kendra makes
the native attractive, sexy appearance,
loved by women/men, most able person
among other people, long lived, skilled
in many works, chief, wealthy etc.

(g) If Jupiter is posited in kendra - the
-native will have beautiful spouse, golden
colour, will be nicely dressed, wealthy,
skilled in shastras, interested in music
and dance for enjoyments. He may be
lecturer of business management
courses. He will have brothers and sons,
stable minded, can do all sorts of works,
self earned comforts and man of good
actions (sloka-14). If Jupiter in kendra,
unafflicted by malefics, the native gets
respect, will be rich knowledge of arts,
skilled in dance and music, lord of
Ministers and master of knowledge
connected with abinet, Parliament
etc.(sloka - 2).
(h) If all the benefic planets are posited in
benefic house identical to kendra - the
native is always involved in pious and

(i) If lagna lord is posited in kendra and
strong - The native though born in a low
family, will become a king. If he is son of
a king, he would certainly become king.

seventh house - The native destroys the
enemies and becomes ruler of the world
In this manner, each bhava needs to be
studied. Each varga of Divisional chart is to
be studied and interpreted as discussed
above.
POINTS TO BE REMEMBERED FOR
DYNAMIC CONFIGURATION:
For a clear analysis of the chart for accurate
prediction, the delineation and dynamic
configuration is very necessary. The main
purpose and also the primary duty of an
astrolo ger is to fin d ou t the p osition of
"Prarabdha" from the natal chart (which I call
the "Promise in the chart").,After this exercise
comes the question about the timing of
fructification of these events in life.
DYNAMIC CONFIGURATION. IN NUTSHELL
(1) Bhava, bhava lord andkaraka - study the
positions of these three in detail as regard
to twelve bhavas.
(2) Locate the classical yogas present in the
chart. The strength of the planets forming
these yogas, should also be considered.
(3) To confirm these findings refer to the
concerned divisional charts for further
detailed study as shown in this book.
If the above points are borne in mind it would
be very easy to know about the "Prarabdha". The
next step is to find out the time of fructification

Note: For counting the number of children the
native will have, many techniques can be being
used. Some are giving very good results. To
enrich the principles I have shown the results
applied on the chart discussed in chapter 1
(where the native had six deliveries and got two
sons and four daughters. He lost younger son
after six months and an eldest daughter after
two weeks of their births. An another daughter
at her age of 34 yrs.) and the chart discussed in
this chapter.

Sun are the astrological factors to be analysed
to find ou t the results.
Vacha (speech) : The nature of the person can
be known from his speech. The man can get
favour of other people or can annoy them with
his manner of speaking. In astrology, the second
house, lord of the second, planets aspecting
or posited in 2nd etc. and Mercury give the
details about the speech of the native. The
speaking indicates/reflects the nature and
character of the person.
Karma: The action of a person reflects on his
nature and character. A cruel person will take
entertainment in harassing others. The tenth
house, lord of the tenth house and planetary
influences on them indicates the actions of a
person.

For knowing about the nature of the person, the
analysis of the above houses is necessary.
Outlook: The outlook can be reflected by the
actions, arguments, manner of expressing the
views before others and comments of the native

started after proper planning, care, sincerity and
devotion, the results are bound to be achieved.
Well Begun is Half Done. In astrology, Muhurta
(Election of a auspicious time) is available to
guide in such matters.
It is said "Man is the maker of his own
'fortune". The success of the person depends upon
his actions.
According to the Karma theory, the soul
while entering this physical body brings along
the results of the past births known as
Prarabdha. These are to be enjoyed or there will
be sufferings because of the past karmas. We can
say that results for the auspicious (good) and
.inauspicious deeds are destined to happen during
jthe lifetime.
Karmanyevadhikaraste Maa Phaleshu Kadachanah
f The native has a free will to do karma, but
the results are not in his hand. This advice helps
the native to do hard work sincerely and ~
devotedly. If he gets the favourable results he
will be happy otherwise he will be disheartened.
He should leave the results to fate or God. To do
"Karma" is the duty of the human being. Sage
Tulsi has described that the entering of the soul
into physical body (as a human birth) is called
"karma yoni". The soul enjoys the good results
and suffers the bad results through this physical
body.
In astrology there are principles, that
indicate the "Prarabdha". The proper analysis
of the horoscope and delineation of chart will
reveal the future of the native.
Once the "Parabdha" (promises) are known,
the fructification of the results can be found out.
For timing the events, the order of the dasha and
transit playa major role. If a person gets dashas
which are auspicious or yoga karaka planets,
there will be good results and the native will
prosper in life. He will get all his ambitions
fulfilled. If the dasha is of an inauspicious planet
and followed by the similiar planet's period, bad
results and "Arishta" will be experienced.
The person gets results according to his
actions done in past births together with the
karmas in this birth. There is a saying "As you

sow so shall you reap", which is found to be
hundred percent correct.
In astrology, the analysis, in addition to
astrological points discussed above, 5th, 9th and
10th houses reveal the successes or failures.
If we study the chart of Smt. Indira Gandhi and
apply the above views, the position will be :
1. The following yogas are present:
a) The Moon is in the third from the Sun,
the financial position of the native will
be best.
b} Anapha Yoga - One born in this yoga
becomes a king, be free from diseases,
virtuous, famous, charming and happy
- Saie Prashara.
The person will be powerful, will enjoy
good health and will have sweet
temperament. He/she will be famous and
all worldly comforts will be enjoyed by
him/her. He/She will be contended,
happy and well dressed
- Mantreshwara
The native will be strong, capable, will
have sound body, will be gentle, famous,
will have worldly comforts, will be fond
of wearing beautiful garments
- Varahamihira.
These are the general effects of this yoga.
The book Manasagari has further
clarified according to the planet posited
in 12th house.
In this case Venus is posited in 12th, the
results indicated are -

ruling class. The position of Venus in the
second from the Sun indicates that the
native will be famous, skilled, well
established, very brave etc.
Maha Bhagya Yoga - If the native is
a female, in such cases, the birth is of
night, the lagna, the Moon and the Sun
are all the three in even signs (Cancer,
Scorpio and Capricorn), this yoga is
formed.
The native will have immense popularity
in public, will be generous in giving gifts,

upto 80 years of age. She died at the age
of 67 (may be because of accidental death,
the span of life became short). The native
has spotless character, fortunate, .good
qualities and sweet manners.
e) Pushkala Yoga - Lord of sign of the
Moon in kendra and associated with lord
of lagna. In this case the Moon sign lord
Saturn is posited in lagna and aspected
by lagna lord the Moon.
The native will be wealthy and have
sweet speech. He will be famous,
honoured by king or will be a king.
Budhaditya Yoga - Sun and Mercury
posited together, results in making the
native, highly intelligent, skilled in
many works, good reputation, personal
"respect, will enjoy all comforts and
happiness.
g) Shankha Yoga - The lord of 5th (Mars)
and 6th (Jupiter) are in mutual kendras
and lagna lord (the Moon) is powerful
(being of shukla paksha) and involved in
exchange' and aspected by 9th lord
Jupiter.
The native will be fond of pleasures, of
humanitarian nature, blessed with wife/
husband, children and lands, good deeds,
skilled in sciences and live upto an old
age.
There may be many other such yogas out
of the hundreds of yogas given in the
classical texts, which are applicable in
(II" this chart. Some of the common yogas
have been discussed here.
From the above yogas, it transpires that
the native is born with promises for
,II' bright future. Whether these will give
fruits or not, if so, when it can be known
{ from the order of the dasa.
2. Rajayogas: These Rajyogas will make the
native entitled to royal honours.

(a) Lords of Kendra and Trikonas-
o Mars is the lord of 5th (Trikona) and also of
\ 10th (Kendra) so has become Yogakaraka.
(b) Exchange of houses by lords -
i) Jupiter (6th lord) and Venus (lIth
lord), there is exchange of 6th (enemies) and
'"H 11th (gains). This shows that the native will
rise and get better results because of
enemies.
Also there will be strong opposition by.
enemies because of 6/8 position of 6th and
11th lord. Which will sometimes give
crushing defeat to enemies and also the
native will suffer defeat some other time.
This all will depend upon the dasa period.
.:', The lord of lIth Venus is in its own
b" constellation and own navamsha, means
strong and Jupiter is in the navamsha of
aJ Venus which shows the native will be
victorious.
A few jolts may be disastrous for her because
H Jupiter (lord of sixth) is retrograde and has

(ii) Exchange of lagna lord (the Moon)
and the seventh lord (Saturn).The
J,sJ exchange of I and VII shows marital discord

uw lagna and lagna has became Maraka, The
native will be self responsible for her death.
od,: This exchange is also "Ari Hanta" (destroyer
of enemies or crushing opposition), which
makes her victorious.
(iii) of 5th lord (Mars) and
2nd lord (the Sun). A very powerful
exchange to give rise to self and children.
. Financial gains, reputation and good
fortunes are promised. If afflicted such yogas
.oj are also seen giving very bad results, as
happened in her life.
Each birth of a child will give rise to the
native i.e. financially and position wise
better period will be enjoyed.
The position of 2nd lord in 5th and the 5th
lord in 2nd shows that the 'Santan' (children)
will bring prosperityto the native and also
become "Maraka" or they will be benefited
.$J after death of the native.

powerful Rajayoga that too in lagna. This
makes the native energetic, impressive,
victorious, popular among masses etc.
3:> (v) The association of Jupiter (lord of 9th)
a.t and Sun (lord of 2nd) connecting 11th and
&fl 5th houses is very good for financial
'HI prosperity. There is connection between
Jupiter and Venus because of exchange of
house i.e. also taken as connection of I Ith,
9th, 6th, 5th and 2nd. The aspect of 5th lord
,{ on 2nd lord and also their exchanged places,
show a very good financial position.
The involvement of 2nd, 5th and 9th shows
that the native will be a good orator, skilled
m in impressing others and getting admiration
from others.
The native born in Uttara Asadha
t1 nakshatra will be a donor, kind hearted,
victorious and polite. She will do pious deeds.
The native will be a capable person. The
.8 native will get happiness from wife/husband
and children and will be beautiful and proud.
The lagna is in Ashlesha nakshatra meaning
that the native will be an aimless wanderer,

.& will do expenditure on wrong things and will

Lagna and lagna lord, both will give the

Moon in Capricorn makes the native admirer
h ~ of wife/husband and children, pretending
.' charity, lean buttocks, grasping intelligence,
popular, idle, not able to bear cold, traveller,
strong or liberal, poet, learned, miserly,
incestuous and with low person, intercourse
shameless and merciless. (Brihat J ataka
Chap. xxSts. 5).
According to Vridha Yavana Jatakam
(Chapter 59 Sloka 41) Cancer Iagna means
that she should be beautiful, possessing
wealth and properties, abide by rules,
reasonable in her approach, loved by her
kins, good moral and character, glamorous
personality and will have all comforts of life.
The same author (in chapter 60/sloka 10)
says that the female native who has the
Moon in Capricorn has big teeth, brave in
nature, beautiful and lovely behaviour, well
educated, believer in truth, disciplined life,
abide by rules and cap ableof destroying the
enemies.
The same author (in chapter 61/sloka 21)
says that the lady born in U. Asadha, will

be beautiful, pleasing personality, soft
speaking, famous in the country/world,
acquires various types of comforts,
contended in life, will become chief and
beloved of husband.
The position of Sun in fifth house (chapter
62/sloka 5) makes her mother of few sons,
she will be keeping fasts and abide by
religion and social norms in practical life,
, will be head or chief in society, will have

thick teeth, broad face, devoted to parents,
sweet and attractive speech and worshipper

of Brahmins and learned people.
,8' In same chapter in sloka 41, it is further said
, that the lady who has Mercury in the fifth
house will have few sons, scarcity of wealth
and food, will take interest in quarrels,
aimless wanderer, will destroy all works,
comfortless and will oppose learned and
gentle people.

Note: The position of Sun and Mercury in
fifth as described above shows that she 'will
be wise, intelligent, interested in company
of Brahmins and learnedpeople on one hand
and on other fond of quarrels, selfish, hence
oppose learned and gentle people for
fulfilment of her own desires.
The position of Mars in the second house
(sloka 26) makes the native characterless, non
dutiful wife, will be older to her husband or
will dominate the husband (meaning marital
j\ discord) very sexy, will not have self earned
~ ; : wealth and face physical distress.
t Jupiter in 11th (sloka 59) she has many
.,L subordinates or maid servants, gentle and
.t: serious nature, will do commendable deeds
b and dynamic things and will always like to
listen to her appreciation.
l' Venus in 6th (sloka 66) makes her jealous,
,f very angry in nature, victorious over
t' enemies and will be opposing husband or
,it' sons.
sv So the Saturn (sloka 73) in lagna makes her
~ . ugly, hard working, defame the native, will
l' be having big teeth eyes and prominent
features.
j) The study of the sign of lagna, nakshatra,
d the Moon sign, nakshatra of birth, position
of planets in different signs give a picture of
the native's nature, outlook and
activities in life. Due to combinations of
these, the native gets inspiration to do
something in a manner to fulfil the desires
in him.
This does not mean that one will get every
thing desired by him. The success or failures
depend upon the planetary positions, their
mutual aspects, position and relationship
forming yo gas, The fructification of the
results shown by these yogas can be timed by
the dasas. If the favourable dasa for the
fructification of the result of a particular
" bhava and yoga come at a proper time it
gives the native a position, status, comforts,
J wealth, prosperity and fulfilment of desired
results. Say there is a promise of marriage
ZZI
but due to afflictions and also not getting a
proper dasa of a favourable planet at the
proper time, the native does not get results.
Either such dasa fall in early life or in the
old age, in which case the native may have
only comp anionship or that too will be
missing. It is seen in most of the cases, that
persons suffer during three fourth of life, but
get financial prosperity in the last quarter
of life, when they do not have health to enjoy
the comforts. There are cases where people
have all comforts of life, but themselves not
in a position to enjoy these comforts. Only
see others enjoying the fruits of their hard
work.
In the case under discussion, the lady was
not highly educated, but was respected as
the most learned and intelligent one in the
later half of her life.
She lost her mother early in 1938. The period
of Mars Mahadasa (which is posited in 8th
from the Moon and is second and 7th lord
from 4th house gave this blow) She lost her
father on 27th May 1964 and herself came to
cabinet on 10th June 1964 and became Prime
Minister in Jan. 1966. Jupiter/Venus period
(Jupiter 9th and 12th lord from 10th house
and posited in 2nd and also in seventh from
Sun (karaka of father and tenth house).
10 Venus lord of 2nd and 7th from 10th house
and posited in ninth from tenth, in 2nd from
the Sun with Rahu in marakasthana) took
away her father. Jupiter/Venus period
brought her into cabinet, Jupiter/Sun made

of 9th aspected by the Sun and Mercury

~ H in the chart are due to prarabdha which
.1(,: fructified). Sun's position in kendra from
Ji Jupiter. (The planets posited in kendra from
';f' any bhava enhance the strength of those
bhavas).Here the bhavas 9th, 11th (Jupiter),
2nd, 5th (Mars and Sun) became stronger
and the good results achieved by the native.
I have tried to express my views in limited
words. My aim is to introduce a simple
method for a scientific and an effective
approach to delineate the horoscope and to
do dynamic configuration to extract the
results from the combinations of planets and
their positions in the birth chart, through
the classical principles given by the sages
and learned astrological savants. Whatever,
I could learn from my great teachers, I have
submitted before the readers.
The readers may accept my services to this
great science. I request them to send their
views, to improve this work and also for the
sake of improving the quality of astrological
works. I am a humble student of Astrology
who is very keen to learn this science. On
the basis of my experience as a student of
astrology, I have submitted my views before
the readers with the hope to get more
.guidelines.
ANNEXURE
T
h e Dreshkona is employed to acquire
information about the nature, characteristics
and fortunes in general, The period of illness and
recovery are also indicated as per the owners of
the dreshkona (Brihat J ataka). The form of the
thief can be described (Prithuyasas & Shat
Panchasika).
I Position of the Moon:
(i) The position of the Moon in signs and
dreshkonas of other planets would give
medium results. If in the dreshkona of
a temporal enemy, the results will be
of lowest order. If the dreshkona
occupied is 'Sarpa' the native becomes
aggressive. In case of the Moon being
in the "Udyat Aydha", the native will
have no hesitation in attacking others
by weapons. If the dreshkona occupied
is Quadrupped, he will develop sex
relations with wife of his teacher. The
native wanders much in life if the
dreshkona happens to be of 'bird'.

Moon is posited, if aspected by a benefic

Travelling Results Depend upon:
(i) At the time of travel, the dreshkona of
the rising sign will decide whether the
journey will be comfortable and fruitful
or not. The nature of dreshkona owned,
occupied or aspected by benefics
signifies flowers, pearls or precious
stones. If this dreshkona is occupied,
owned or aspected by malefics, the
journey will be useless and
uncomfortable. If the nature of the
dreshkona is serpant, the travelling
will cause great physical troubles.
