Fallschirmjager
In the first true parachute operation of World War Two, German paratroops of 1st Battalion Fallschirmjager Regiment 1 proved themselves an invaluable component of Blitzkrieg. First in the initial stages of the campaign by seizing airfields and bridges in Norway and Denmark, and subsequently by supporting army ground forces engaged at Narvik. Armed with a high number of automatic weapons, and grenades, the Fallschirmjager are s armed to the teeth. The Fallschirmjager Squad certainly is an adversary to be avoided on the battlefield in the early years of the war! The Squad leader advances with the rapid fire MP38/40 Submachine Gun, followed closely by riflemen armed with the accurate and powerful Kar98K bolt action rifle. An Assistant Squad leader directs covering fire from the MG34 team, and sometimes a security detachment. As the scope of German Fallschirmjager operations increased, specialized weapons began to appear, like the vaunted FG42 Parachutists rifle, which proved popular as a squad automatic rifle, and the Gew41 Self Loading Rifle as an sharpshooters rifle. Later in the war, the MG42 began to replace the MG34 as the squad machine gun, although often they were found side by side in a squad, providing increased firepower.

Short Squad Battle Casualty often reduced the s number of available squad members. Players may subtract men from the squad at a rate of 20 points per man plus the value of their equipment. Alternative Weapons Due to shortages in production and ammunition consumption, many Fallschirmjagers used captured M1 Carbine s, known in German service as the Selbsladekarabiner or SKb 455(a), rather than the Kar98K. Each carbine the squad uses costs 15 points if using Easy Eight BattleBuilder. Soldiers s equipped with the M1 Carbine do not suffer the Captured Use Penalty when using it. This option is only available in games taking place after 1942. Extra Machine Gun An extra machine gun provides that much more firepower, along with the increased ability to lay special fire modes. For 35 points, two riflemen may act as crew for an extra MG34.

Fallschirmjager Options
Flammenwerfer A single Sturm Grenadier may give up his Kar98K to be armed with the portable Model 41 Flammenwerfer that shoots a deadly flame. The Flammenwerfer follows all rules for Flamethowers as found in the Battleground WWII Rules Set. Taking this option costs 40 points if using Easy Eight Battlebuilder. s Scoped Kar98K With the Kar98K, the Sharpshooters may select their target at Short, Effective, and Long range, as long as they didn t move in the previous action. Example: A Sharpshooter selects an American BAR gunner, fires one shot, lightly wounding him, then for the second action of fire, the Sharpshooter fires, again with the benefit of being able to choose his target, this time killing the BAR gunner. A single Scoped Kar98K can be made available to the squad at a cost of 45 points if using Easy Eight Battlebuilder. s
