PROPSOSED MINI TOWN PLAN VIEWED WITH CAUTION BY RESIDENTS ACTION GROUP Developers plans for a new 3,500 home mini-town in Arborfield received a cautious welcome from Arborfield Garrison Residents Action Group. (AG-RAG). Gill Purchase, spokeswomen for the Group, says. Whilst we are pleased the proposal put forwarded by Planning Consultants JTP has included retaining existing and well used open spaces and the re-location of the primary schools, we are still not satisfied key infrastructure issues, such as the need for a by-pass, have been properly considered. Wokingham Borough Councils promise that yet another Forum will be set up to discuss road improvements simply is not good enough. Residents want decisive action on this issue, not just given another opportunity to discuss it! She continues. There is an urgent need to resolve this issue. We reiterate that this needs to be done before any Planning Application is submitted. After all, speaking on behalf of the Council, Angus Ross, former Executive Member for Planning, gave a categorical commitment on a television interview that no planning approval would be given until it had been sorted out. It would be nothing more than scandalous if the Council rescinds on this publicly made pledge. Overall, our members viewed this particular consultation exercise positively. We welcome the opportunity to become more involved as the process evolves, providing the Developers listen and act on our concerns.
