ABSTRACT
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Line-Interactive is an equipment for power back-up when the grid fails or contains disturbances. UPS consists of energy storage such as batteries and supercapacitor. Because batteries have limited power capacity, so a fuel cell is used as the main power generator. The UPS is also used as distributed generation system. Supercapacitor is involved in this system to improve the voltage when interruption occured. The UPS LineInteractive can operate in both stand-alone and grid connected. In this final project, fuel cell type Polymer Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC ) 6 kW is used and operated in 2 kW and 5 kW. A three port converter interfaces the fuel cell, supercapacitor and rectifier to the inverter. Low voltage of fuel cell and supercapacitor is step up by high frequency transformer. When in a stand-alone mode of operation, inverter supply the load. But, when in grid connected mode, some of power in load be supplied by grid, while inverter just supply lack of power when fluctuation occured. The result of simulation shows that when interruption occurs, stable voltage on load was performed.
