Content

(0-23 points) The professional development does not have a clear purpose or central theme The content is vague in conveying a point of view and does not create a strong sense of purpose Information is incomplete, incorrect, or flawed

(25-35 points) The theme or main idea of the professional development is more or less clear and related to the purpose or theme of the project The content is written with a logical progression of ideas and supporting information Most information is clear and correct Includes persuasive information from reliable sources Some subject knowledge is evident

Includes some persuasive information with few facts. Some of the information may not seem to fit. Sources used appear unreliable Subject knowledge is not evident

Use of Examples Multimedia Aids

(0-3 points) Examples either are not used or are not helpful (0-3 points) Multimedia aids did not add to presentation or were not used

(4 points) Most abstract ideas are supported with examples (4 points) Multimedia aids used but they do not add much to, and may distract from, the PD Aids are hard to read or hear, or are messy (writing or graphics are not neat or sound is not clear) Aids are not smoothly brought into the PD

Citations

(0-3 points) No way to check validity of information.

(4 points) Most sources of information use proper APA citation and sources are documented to make it possible to check on the accuracy of information. Sometimes copyright guidelines are followed and some information, photos and graphics do not use proper APA citations. (6-8 points) Minor errors (less than four) in spelling and/or grammar, but reader can understand the main idea

Mechanics

(0-5 points) Errors in spelling, capitalization, punctuation, usage and grammar repeatedly distract the reader and major editing and revision is required. Difficult to understand the main idea
