TRAINING EFFECTIVENESS AS PERCEIVED BY THE FOOD AND BEVERAGES EMPLOYEE By EVELYN GRACE October 2010

The purpose of this research is to compare the level of knowledge, skills and attitude between the first year and final year students of B.Sc Human Resource Development. This is to evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum in enhancing the students level of knowledge, skills and attitude towards Human Resource Development. It is indeed vital to know if the curriculum offered is effective in changing the students level of knowledge, skills and attitude because only then the university can be assured that that they are producing competent graduates. Sixtythree first year students and sixty-five final year students of B.Sc Human Resource Development is involved in study. The questionnaires were distributed and collected successfully. Finding shows that the final year students have higher level of knowledge, skills and attitude towards Human Resource Development compared to the first year students. From the findings, it is observed that the curriculum offered is effective in changing the knowledge, skills and attitude level of the B.Sc Human Resource Development students towards Human Resource Development. Besides, it is also observed that the level of knowledge, skills and attitude did not differ between male and female students .Moreover, it is also found that the race of the students does not affect the level of knowledge, skills and attitude towards Human Resource Development. It is also found that the entry qualification of the students does not affect the level of knowledge, skills and attitude towards Human Resource Development. In conclusion, it is found that the gender, race and entry qualification of the student does not affect the level of knowledge, skills and attitude they have towards Human Resource Development and only the curriculum offered in the three years is effective in changing the knowledge, skills and

attitude level of the B.Sc Human Resource Development students towards Human Resource Development.
