Preliminary Activity 1. Review Teachers Activity What are the equipments in swine production? Students Activity Maam the equipments used in swine production are breeding crate, farrowing crate, shipping crate, castration rack, feed cart, self feeders, waterers, livestock trailer, pickup truck, heat lamps and brooders, water system.

Presentation of the Lesson Teachers Activity Class let us consider a poultry house that some of you have visited. Aside from chickens that you can see in the poultry house, what are other things that you can see? Can you describe and give the use or uses of each of these equipments and facilities in poultry production? What are other facilities in poultry production? You need to feed and let the birds drink, what do you call these? How about if there are many supplies of feeds, where are you going to place or store them? Do you think an incubator is needed in poultry house? Students Activity Maam I think a dropping board is a wood or G.I. sheet provided in the laying house to collect manure. Maam a perch is a horizontal pole where birds can sit and rest during night time. Maam feeder or feeding trough is where feeds are placed for the birds to eat. They can be made by wood, G.I. sheets or plastic while a waterer or drinking trough are drinking jars where birds will drink. Maam feed bins or buckets. It is where feeds are stored for future use. Ah! Yes maam. An incubator is needed especially in commercialized poultry production. It is used for maintaining the eggs of birds to allow them to hatch. Maam it is a brooder, a heated container that can have its temperature controlled in at least one area. Chicks are confined here with their feeds and water until they are two weeks old.

Newly arrived chicks need to be confined first in an area where the temperature is controlled. What do you call this facility/ equipment?
