Dear parents / guardians,

During weeks 9 and 10 ISGR will be celebrating its reading weeks. This is one of our biggest events of the year and we would like parents to take part! The purpose of the reading weeks is to encourage students to learn about the world of literature and language. This year our specific focuses will be learning about the different languages we have in the school and poetry. As an international school we want to celebrate what makes us unique and learn more about eachothers cultures. Reading weeks are a great opportunity for this to happen so we welcome parents to come to the school and share with their childs class about their favourite books or special books / poems from their culture. A week will begin with an assembly on Monday morning and then the students will be involved in some reading related activities each day. At the end of the first week, Friday 1st March, we will have a cozy day where students can bring in comfy clothes or pajamas to help them settle into a good book. On the final day of the two weeks, Friday 8th, we will have a dress up day where the students are encouraged to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character. We will also have a points promenade around the school. More information about the reading weeks will be coming from the classroom teachers but once again, please feel free to come and join in and help make these two weeks as valuable as possible for the students.

Regards

Mike Howlett Deputy Principal PYP ISGR
