Review paper prepared some time ago, needs updating, generally covers the failure mechanisms for coated metals

Crack propagation in locally stressed metals

Testing the feasibility of changing crack behaviour by perturbing T-stresses

Possible medical applications of pre-stressed coatings

Met with JRI, some interest but nothing concrete yet, fatigue is obviously an issue but they haven't got to grips with the associated residual stresses yet
