Are Marketers Spending Wisely on Social Media on 23rd February, 2013 At: India International Centre, New Delhi. Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Sector 5, Rohini, Delhi organized Alumni Interaction Forum Series IV on Saturday 23rd February, 2013 at India International Centre on the topic Are Marketers Spending Wisely on Social Media, Ms. Surbhi Malhotra- Head Alumni Relations welcomed all the Alumni and discussed the agenda of the forum. Amidst the social media buzz, this time at the event JIMS had undertaken an important issue of Are Marketers Spending Wisely on Social Media. Mr. Vashisth Batch 2004-2006, JIMS initiated the discussion by explaining the importance of social media in todays time. He further stressed on the idea of social networking through various social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. Further, our key speaker Mr. Shankhdhar started the event sharing his experiences and thoughts on the aspects Social Media Marketing through an insightful presentation. He further propounded the Social Media Adoption from the early innovators (the ones who discover and trendify) to Laggards (Might never get around to adopt it) He further stressed on Social Media for business functions i.e. in Marketing, HR, Creative, Operations/Strategy and Business Development. He further said that Social Media enhances Visibility, Reputation and Approachability. He further named the top social networks for business i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blog and Pinterest. Also, the discussion led to a conclusion that CONTENT IS

STILL THE KING, where blogs and content have great importance increasing searchability, data knowledge and management and thought leadership. All these valuable tips were discussed at length at the forum. Lastly the Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. Kumud Ranjan, Batch 2004-2006- President Alumni Association. Overall the forum was a fruitful experience and a great way for a communicative start among the Alumnus.
