*Next Steps: Explain to the students that today we will be going to the recycling center. Go over field trip procedures. Tell the students that they need to give our tour guide their undivided attention. At the recycling center the students will get to trace the path of recyclables, they will learn more about the importance of the 3 Rs, students will be able to sort recyclables, and talk with professionals modeling waste reduction practices. After the field trip the students will write a short response about their favorite part of the recycling center. *Closure: Once the papers have been turned in tell the students that now they will get to put all their knowledge in to action. The students will be able to start a recycling program in the school. They will be able to reduce the amount of waste, reuse everyday objects like the examples we saw in class, and recycle everyday. Tell the students that the recycling center is setting us up with recycle bins throughout the school. The students will be given the chance to make labels for what objects go in what bins (paper, plastic, trash).
