Week 8 Kolenich Classroom (Social Studies) February 25-March 1 Social Studies Monday (Kolenich) Topic: Lesson 2: Beginning of Change

COS: 10.) Describe significant social and educational changes in Alabama during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Goal: For students to be able to identify Alabamians who made contributions in Alabama in the late nineteenth century. Objectives: -TSWBA to draw conclusions about the significant social and educational changes in Alabama in the late 1800s and early 1900s. - TSWBA to identify Alabamians who made contributions to education and the arts in the late nineteenth century. Materials: -Lesson 2 Worksheet - 4 square graphic organizer - Vocabulary Procedures: -TTW introduce the main idea of the lesson and the lesson vocabulary. -TTW pass out the 4 square graphic organizer. Each group will be assigned a person from the lesson. The students will read their lesson in their group and record the information about their person on their graphic organizer. Each group will then present their individual to the class. -Following the presentations, the students will work individual on a review worksheet. Evaluation: The students will be evaluated based on the notes recorded on their graphic organizer, their presentations, and review worksheet. Tuesday (Wilson) Topic: Lesson 2: Beginning of Change COS: 10.) Describe significant social and educational changes in Alabama during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Goal: For students to be able to identify Alabamians who made contributions in Alabama in the late nineteenth century. Objectives: -TSWBA to draw conclusions about the significant social and educational changes in Alabama in the late 1800s and early 1900s. - TSWBA to identify Alabamians who made contributions to education and the arts in the late nineteenth century. Goal: For students to be able to identify and discuss the significant changes in Alabama in the late nineteenth century. Objectives: -TSWBA to explain how the development of industry caused social changes in Alabama in the late nineteenth century. - TSWBA to discuss cultural contributions from various regions of Alabama in the nineteenth century that helped in the formation of a state heritage. -TSWBA to describe the significant social changes in Alabama in the early twentieth century. Materials: -review sheet - Study guide - 4 square graphic organizer Procedures: -TTW review the lesson from yesterday, allow students to present if they did not finish, complete their four square graphic organizer, and go over the review worksheet. - TTW then hand out a lesson study guide. The students will be allowed to work in their circle groups to complete the study guide. -TTW go over the study guide when the students complete it. The class will review for their test on Friday! Evaluation: The students will be evaluated on their lesson review and study guide. Thursday (Wilson) Topic: Lesson 2: Beginnings of Change COS: 10.) Objectives: -TSWBA to recall the information from their lesson and do well on their test. Materials: -Test Procedures: The teacher will provide a quick review of the content. The class will then put up their offices and take their test. Evaluation: The students will be evaluated by their lesson 2 test.
