Abstract Art

1. What is the value of abstract art?

My point of view: The value of abstract art is to enjoy something that is made up and something that you love.

Pablo Picassos point of view: There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality. http://www.best-quotes-poems.com/Pablo-Picasso.html

2. Choose 2 abstract artists and find out what their motivations were/are?

Jackson Pollock: "...today painters do not have to go to a subject matter outside of themselves. Most modern painters work from a different source. They work from within. The modern artist, it seems to me, is working and expressing an inner world." www.storyboardtoys.com/gallery/Jackson-Pollock-lessonplan.htm

Georges Braques: Many regard these works as attempting to show every side of a three-dimensional object on a twodimesional palette but the actual motivation was not quite that simple. The goal was to break up the colors and lines of the form and re arrange them into a new image that analyzed the formal elements of the object.

3. Use visual elements like tone, colour, composition, texture line balance/structure. What is the difference between tone and colour?

The difference between tone and colour is: that tone is how colours difference from each other but colour is the look of the art.
