An Introduction to the Physical Layer of LTE Systems
The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of the physical layer of LTE systems. After a brief introduction to the 3GPP LTE standardization process, we will define the overall system architecture and the physical transmission resources defined in the LTE standard. The remainder of the presentation will then focus on downlink physical layer processing, including multi-antenna transmission, reference signals, and interference handling. Time permitting, radio-access technologies incorporated into the nextgeneration LTE standard (LTE-Advanced), such as carrier aggregation and heterogeneous deployments, will be briefly presented.
