How can a megacity be best defined? Megacities are cities that have reached a population of 10 million +. Why do people migrate to the city? To find a greater choice, opportunity and well-being. What are some similarities that megacities have? The struggle with the widening gap between the rich and poor, problems with providing jobs, deal with crime and violence, making housing, education and health care available, basic infrastructure such as water, sanitation and public transportation. What is Dr. Pearlmans opinion about planned cities and communities? They are too sterile and lack the spontaneity that cities that grew naturally have. Why are megacities important? They are important because the 21st century will be a century or urban areas (megacities)
