Course Outcomes: A student: H7 applies their understanding of practice in art criticism and art history H8 applies their understanding of the relationships among the artist, artwork, world and audience H9 demonstrates an understanding of how the frames provide for different orientations to critical and historical investigations of art H10 constructs a body of significant art histories, critical narratives and other documentary accounts of representation in the visual arts Task Name: Case Study - Technology Task Description Students are to answer the following question in an essay style extended response: Investigate how technology has changed the role of the interaction between artist, artwork and audience. The response will require you to interpret artworks discussed in class theory lessons which discuss the Frames and the Conceptual Framework and show your understanding of these concepts. Students should use the extended response rubric discussed and formatted in class to sculpt their essay. Remember to use the metalanguage learnt in the Case Study and use it in your response. Your choice of artists to discuss in relation to this essay are Bill Viola, Tony Oursler, Stelarc and Patricia Piccinini.

Marking Criteria Demonstrates an outstanding knowledge of the Frames by identifying artworks by at least TWO artists and discussing them in relation to the Conceptual Framework element suggested in the question. A wide scope in art history and criticism has been covered, descriptions of the artworks and elements within the artworks are discussed and the extended response has been written in a coherent and concise manner. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of the Frames by identifying artworks by at least TWO artists and discussing them in relation to the Conceptual Framework element suggested. Some scope in art history and criticism has been covered, descriptions of the artworks and elements within the artworks are discussed and the extended response has been written in a coherent and concise manner. Demonstrates a sound level of knowledge of the Frames by identifying artworks by TWO artists and discussing simplistically discussing the artists interpretation of the Conceptual Frame suggested. Art history and criticism has been touched on and an extended response has been attempted, although metalanguage and paragraph structure may need work. Demonstrates a basic level of knowledge of the Frames and Conceptual Framework element by mentioning artworks from listed artists and discussing them in no particular way. Dot points may have been used. There is no attempt of an extended response and only one artwork might have been discussed.
