PREPROFESSIONAL FIELD EXPERIENCES for ED 215R Evaluation by Cooperating Teacher

Conducts self in a professional manner (e.g., attendance, preparation, respect). 1 2 3 4 (Dispositions: Respect, Responsibility, Communication) Stephanie was very professional each time she entered the school. She went above the expected number of hours and made a point to become activley involved in the school community. 2. Encourages development of a positive self-image in learners (e.g., gets to know students, 1 2 3 4 positive interactions with students). (Dispositions: Respect, Collaboration) Stephanie developed a positive rapport with the children. Instead of sitting back and watching, Stephanie took the initiative to jump in and help whenever needed. I observed this on her very first day with us, and her relationships with the students grew and evolved from friend to helper to teacher. She was very comfortable with the students and this allowed her to plan and implement successful lessons. 3. Interacts effectively with students, colleagues, administrators, parents. 1 2 3 4 (Dispositions: Respect, Collaboration, Communication) Stephanie worked with our Parent Action Team to plan a family night, and is volunteering her time to come back and help with the implementation of this event. 4. Demonstrates effective pre-professional teaching skills. (e.g., planning, implementing 1 2 3 4 lesson) (Dispositions: Respect, Responsibility, Reflection, Collaboration, Communication) Stephanie showed much concern for understanding the developmental needs of the students and was able to plan effective lessons. She paid close attention to the varying academic and social needs and was willing to alter her plan when needed, both before teaching her lessons and during the activities. 5. Communicates effectively through speaking, writing, and listening (e.g., gives clear 1 2 3 4 directions, listens to students, uses media). (Dispositions: Respect, Communication) Stephanie showed a willingness to try different technology and ways to deliver her lessons. She did a nice job modeling and explaining activities at the students' level of understanding. Final Comments/Suggestions for Candidate: I really enjoyed working with Stephanie this semester. She was enthusiastic and showed a great willingness to learn and try new things. Stephanie has a natural way with young children, and they respond positively to her calm and caring demeanor. She shows the capacity for reflection and is very thoughtful in her responses and lesson plans. She will do well as she continues with her pre-service experiences.
