Need of C.E.P.
The exhaust steam of turbine is condensed at condenser with the help of cooling water. The condensate produced is evacuated from condenser by help of C.E.P. This condensate passes through gland seal condenser and Ejector condenser to gain heat of the gland steam and ejector steam respectively.

Need of C.E.P. (Contd)

So the temperature of condensate increases there. Before feeding to deaerator for further useage in boiler, this condensate is further heated at LP Heater by using LP steam extraction of turbine.

Condensate System Operation

To put the condensate system in operation following steps are required to be followed. Ensure condenser hotwell level is adequate. Open suction and discharge valve of pump Ensure DP of strainer is normal Open condensate inlet and outlet valves of gland seal condenser, ejector condenser and LP heater.

Condensate System Operation

The condensate will pass through gland seal condenser and ejector condenser and through recirculation control valve it should be recirculated to condenser again If level of hotwell is more, then discharge valve can be opened otherwise the recirculation valve to be kept open for recirculation of condenser

Condensate System Operation

If the C.E.P is to be started , when there is vacuum inside the condenser then vacuum balance line valve is to be opened to avoid any air, trappped inside pump and pipe line.

S.O.P for C.E.P.

Ensure the electric supply to the panel/equipment Ensure normal condensate level in Hot well. Ensure the clearance for starting the equipment. Ensure cooling water supply for bearings & gland sealing. Close Discharge valve and keep open Vacuum balancing line and bowl sealing valve and then open suction and recirculation valve. Release the emergency push button and start the pump/give clearance to C/R to start the pump. Open discharge valve slowly and ensure recirculation as well as sealing lines are lined up. Close the recirculation line as per requirement. Dos: Check bearing vibration and temperature. Check suction and discharge pressure. Check bearing oil level and ensure proper lubrication. Check any abnormal sound and line leakages. Any activity should be contacted to C/R. Keep stand by pumps always available. Donts: Dont start pump on full load. Dont operate pump without Electrical/Mechanical clearance.

Daily Checklist for C.E.P.

Checked suction differential pressure, not greater than 450 mmWC. Checked Hot well level, not less than 45%. Checked Bearing oil level , should be 50%. Ensure Vacuum balancing line Isolation valve fully opened. Ensure gland sealing water line Isolation valve fully opened. Checked no abnormal sound to pump and motor. Checked leakage.
