Stage 1- Desired Results Established Goals: NETS-T (National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers) 1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both faceto-face and virtual environments. a. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness c. Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes d. Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments 2. Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETSS. a. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity b. Contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community Understandings: Teachers will understand that Using Google Drive will allow them to share information with students, receive and edit/grade assignments from students, and allow students to share with one another on group assignments all without using paper. Edmodo will allow them to post assignments, discussions, quizzes, and polls to their classes in a much easier manner than our school web page does. Google Drive and Edmodo will allow them to monitor group activity among students. Essential Questions: What will I gain from using Google Apps in my classroom? How can creating an Edmodo page for my classes enhance learning for me and my students? Why do we need to go wireless in our schools? Why do we need to use technology to learn?

RHHS has a plan of going completely wireless that will be achieved in three phases. Misunderstandings: Technology can be a waste of valuable class time. Technology can be difficult for veteran teachers to learn to incorporate in classes. Teachers will be able to create a new document, spreadsheet, form, and presentation, share it out, and edit with others in Google Drive. upload items to Google Drive. set up an Edmodo page, create/join groups, and maintain their page. apply to be one of the first 16 teachers to receive a wireless access point near their room.

Teachers will know what Google Apps for Education will allow them to do for themselves and for their classes. how to create a new document, spreadsheet, form, and presentation, share it out, and edit with others. how to upload items to Google Drive. how to set up an Edmodo page, create/join groups, and maintain their page. the three phases that RHHS plans to use to implement the wireless initiative.

Stage 2- Assessment Evidence Performance Tasks: Other Evidence: Goal To create/upload items in Google Students enjoying using Web 2.0 tools Drive and share out to students, and to Students less forgetful about set up and maintain an Edmodo page for assignments or losing a piece of paper their classes. since everything is now online. Role Teacher Audience Students Situation Teachers need to practice using Google Drive and Edmodo to gain a level of comfort with using web 2.0 tools in their classroom. Product Well used Google Drive and well maintained Edmodo page Standards (See above.)

Stage 3- Learning Plan

Learning Activities: W= Help teachers to know What Google Drive and Edmodo are and What is expected? H= Hook all teachers and Hold their interest?

Teachers will observe Google Drive demonstration as well as watch an Edmodo introductory video. Teachers will see examples of how Google Drive documents have been shared and edited between teachers and students. Teachers will also see how much easier it is to upload and maintain an Edmodo page over the school based web pages. 1. Check that each teacher has properly logged in to Google drive account. 2. Teachers will check for a shared document that they will then edit/make comments to and reshare. 3. Teachers will set up their Edmodo account and have code ready to share with students. Teachers will be allowed to collaborate with one another as instructor provides one-on-one attention where needed.

E= Equip teachers, help them Experience the key ideas and Explore the issues?

R= Provide opportunities to Rethink and Revise their understandings and work?

Teachers will complete a questionnaire about what E= Allow teachers to Evaluate their they have learned from the in service and areas work and its implications? that they are still struggling with.

T= Be Tailored (personalized) to the different needs, interests, and abilities of learners?

Teachers who are not as comfortable with technology will be given individual tutoring after the main session. Support from the RHHS Tech team will be monitored through surveys and emails.

O= Be Organized to maximize initial and sustained engagement as well as effective learning?

A well organized agenda will be given to teachers ahead of time in their Google Drive. The session is broken into four sections so as to keep participants focused on the information at hand.
