Extra Curricular Write-Up Monica Sheets September 6 School Improvement Meeting This meeting was just made up of a few

w teachers and the principal. In attendance was Diane, Mrs. Diaz, Mrs. Corbin, Mrs. Carmoney, Mrs. Jones, and Mrs. Leffler. The meeting was only a half hour long right before the PTA meeting so there was not a lot on the agenda. We spent most of the time brainstorming ideas about what to do with some extra money in the budget. The money could only be used for instructional purposes so that limited the ideas of what we could use it for. Mrs. Carmoney asked about different equipment that might need to be replaced for instructional purposes, but most of those items were too expensive. I suggested looking into any software that might help and that was well-received. September 6 Parent Teacher Association Meeting This was the first PTA meeting of the year. There was a surprisingly large turn-out; parents from every grade, including the pre-school program, showed up to see how they could get involved with the school. Unbeknownst to me, who had run out to quick get subway between school ending and the SIT Meeting, a light dinner was provided: there was cookies, coffee, sandwhiches, and chips with homemade salsa. The first fifteen minutes was just saying hello and socializing while people ate, which was nice. It gave me a chance to meet different parents and introduce myself. When the meeting started, everyone introduced themselves and what grade their children were in. The agenda was rather short: the executive board introduced themselves, there was an explanation of room parents and how that would work, there was talk about the MSU basketball concession fund raiser and how that would work, and a preview of the October Spooktacular. One womans husband was the head of the ROTC program at MSU and she said she could probably get some ROTC students to help volunteer for either the concessions or the Spooktacular. Despite the agenda being short, the meeting went the whole hour and was rather productive. I volunteered to help at the Spooktacular at this meeting. October 27 Post Oak Spooktacular Instead of having class parties on Halloween, Post Oak hosts a fall festival every year. It gives the students the chance to celebrate Halloween with their classmates and is a small fundraiser for the PTA. There are Halloween games (cake walk, bobbing for apples, ghost matching), a silent auction, popcorn and cotton candy, a costume parade, hay rides, and this year they added a photo booth! I was manning the photobooth this year. Students could come get their picture taken and two prints of the picture for $1 or if they had a purple wristband, they were allowed unlimited access to the Photo Booth. It was really cute to see all of the costumes and see the families together. There were many older students who did not go to

Post Oak but accompanied their younger siblings. One family had a theme for all of their costumes: The oldest sister was Little Red Riding Hood, the mother was Grandma, the father was the lumber jack, and the youngest daughter was the Big Bad Wolf. So cute!
