Description of Lesson: The teacher is going to go over the homophonies of to, too and two. Students have been recently been confusing the correct word when constructing sentences. In this lesson, students will be pre-assessed by filling in the blank on the correct to, too, or two in sentences. The teacher will begin her lesson by having all of the students to participate in a read aloud of To, Too & Two wrote by their teacher on the SMARTboard. The student will be able to highlight the to, too and twos throughout the short story. The teacher will then describe the correct usage of the word in when to use to, too and two. The students will complete the lesson by exploring into their books to find sentences containing to, too or two. They will also be able to make their own sentences using these homophonies. This will evaluate if the child really is understanding the different meanings of these words. Curriculum Standards Addressed: SC State Standard: Standard 1-3 The student will learn to read by applying appropriate skills and strategies. Indicator: 1-3.5 Understand the relationship between two or more words (including synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms). EEDA Standard: Standard 4: Students will demonstrate a positive attitude toward work and the ability to work together. SC SSCA Standard: Section 1. (A) The General Assembly finds that: (1) A safe and civil environment in school is necessary for students to learn and achieve high academic standards. Cross Curricular Connections: The use of understanding phonemic awareness to generate fluency reading in a positive attitude in a safe environment. Instructional Objective(s) Criteria: Students will recognize to, too, & two and the correct usage of the word in a sentence. Assessment(s) of the Objectives:

Pre-assessment: Students will complete a worksheet on identifying the correct to, too & two that is used to complete a correct sentence. (Attached) During assessment: Students will participate in a read aloud of To, Too & Two. (Attached) The students will fill in the correct to, too or two to complete the short story. Post assessment: The students will locate a sentence in one of their book and copy it onto a piece of paper. Then they will give two more examples of sentences that contain the other two types of to, too & two. (Rubric attached) Materials/Resources: Paper Pencils SMARTboard Laptop Pen To, Too & Two pre-assessment To, Too & Two story Final Assessment Rubric Prerequisites (Prior Knowledge): The recognition of to, too and two in reading. Procedures: 1. Teacher will call students by table to gather at their assigned seats on the carpet. 2. The teacher will begin the lesson asking: a. What are three different ways we can write to, too, two? 3. The teacher will then read aloud the story To, Too & Two a. My sister is two years old. She went with me to the market. I wanted to buy her a big doll. The doll was pretty. She liked the doll, too. But the doll cost too much money. I do not know what to do. 4. The students will be called on individually highlight each to, too, two. 5. The teacher will then explain the way the to, too, two were used. a. Explanation: i. TWO names a number 2 ii. TO goes with the action word to buy and direction word to the market iii. Too means more than and also 6. The teacher will then ask the students to tell her a sentence using each to, too and two.

Accommodation(s): Students who are having a hard time locating a sentence may ask for additional help from the teacher. The teacher will help students who are having difficulty producing sentences for all three types of to, too, two.

a. The teacher will write the sentence and allow the student to highlight the to, too, two. b. The teacher will gather all three types of to, too & two. 7. The teacher will then give the instructions: a. Once you returned to your desk, please grab one book from underneath your desk. Choose one sentence in you book that has either to, too, two. b. Copy the sentence on your paper. c. After copying your sentence, write two more sentences that you can make up using the other two types of to, too, two. d. Once you are complete, turn in your papers at the drawing table.
