Students will learn to have a respecmul discussion with others. They will inquire as to the nature of movement and why we think it is important. A connecCon between everyday concepts to arCsts in history will be made. By the end they will create an art piece while moving, and have a greater understanding of the term movement.

AcCvity/ Overview

Students will be introduced to the idea of movement, and why its important to capture in art. Based on the ideas of Pastels arCsts such as Picasso ,Brauqe, and contemporary cubists, students will work will be introduced to ways to use Crayons movement within art.A key concept to this acCvity is to get students aware of the moCons that are incorporated in their Butcher Paper (cut into pieces for each group) daily lives. Visuals, such as works of art and videos, that incapsulate the idea of movment will give them a good sense of the various types of moCon. They will use the movement of dancing in order to create a work of art. Through the use of charcoal, pastels, and crayons the children will be able to create a drawing by listening to various types of music and dance according to the rhythm of the music. What kind of moments do you see in your daily life? What kinds of art involve movement? How would you go about capturing movement in art? What are ways you could express movement in your work? What would it be like going to the movies and not having any sound only the picture and movement to tell the story? Ask students to repeat vocabulary back in context with the discussion.
