This class normally has about 23 students, but during the time of the assessments only 19 were present. The above graph shows that the majority of the students received 100% on the pre and/ or post assessments. During the pre-assessment students were asked to Write down the order of the Mayan Government. The class had prior knowledge, because the information was discussed the previous day during instruction. The majority, meaning 11 out of 19, answered the question correctly and scored a 4/4 or 100%. The question required the students to put four roles of society in the correct order, so there were a few that had the four roles, but had the order a little mixed up. For instance the three students who received 75% or the students who received 50%, with the exception of two students, they all had the correct roles but they were out of order. The three students who received 0% did one of the following: they didnt answer the question at all or their hand writing was unrecognizable. Over all the class did well on the pre-assessment. The post-assessment was a little different. In terms of the majority, 15 out of 19 scored a 2/2 or 100%. This question asked students to explain the role of the priest and the nobles in the Mayan government. In the pre-assessment they were just required to put the roles of the Mayan Society in order, but this question required them to explain the roles. This information was covered the same day as the pre and post assessment, so the question had already been answered. It was just a matter of the students recalling the information that had been delivered to them. Since this was a two part question they had to get both parts right to get a 2/2, and as the graph shows, only four did not. The four that did not scored 0% on the assessment. One of the students turned in his notes instead of the assessment, the second of the four didnt answer the question at all, and the third and fourth had unrecognizable hand-writing.

This class is a 6th Grade STEMS class, which is full of students who have the capability of doing well on assessments, but I noticed not all of them use this capabilities. In this class you are either at the top or you are at the bottom, and not very many straddle the fence. During my pre-assessment 11 out of 19 scored 4/4. During the post assessment 15 out of 19 scored a 2/2 with 12 of the 19 students scoring perfect on both assessments. There were 3 out of the 19 students who scored better on the post then on the pre. 2 students pre assessment was higher than the post assessment. 2 students scored higher on the post assessment, and 2 students scored a 0% both times. From my data, the students in this class either improved or stayed the same.

The three students listed above were students that had my attention from the start of my clinical. It is important to understand the importance of these students learning, because its my job as a teacher to try and reach all my students. Even of that means altering my lesson plans to accommodate each student. My high performer has been an all-around good student and his teacher speaks highly of him. He always turns in quality work and that may be because he has a parent who works in education. My average performer is a female student who does enough to get by. She is very capable of doing more, but when it comes to social studies she just gives up and if she does not know an answer she will skip it and leave it blank. My low performer is a student who sits in class and does nothing. He reads or stares off into space. This student is already on probation for the STEMS program, and does not seem to want to put in any effort to change his status. My three students are all completely different in their work ethic and their grades reflect it. The objective for this lesson was: Student will be able to understand the order of power in the Mayan civilization. Students will be able to understand the fall of the Mayans. The performance of the three students based on the objective was hit or miss. My high performer did excellent on both the pre- and post- assessments. The average performer had a little confusion on the order of power, but when she took the post assessment, she aced it. My low performer didnt try on either assessment, and he what he wrote was unrecognizable so not credit could be given. I noticed this student has a habit of writing like this when he is unsure of something. In my opinion this is to make it look like there was an attempt made to answer the question.
