Earth Hour is a special event that millions of people around the world have taken part in to help the planet. This year, we are going beyond the hour making a small change for the rest of the year to make a difference - in our own little ways. In class, the students have written their pledges in their Homework Notebooks. Let them share these with you and support them in this endeavor.

22 March 2013 Dear Year 3A Parents and Guardians, Our next unit of inquiry, under the Sharing the Planet theme, will look into ecosystems. Our central idea for this unit is: Organisms in an ecosystem rely on each other for survival. On the second week of this unit, our inquiry will focus on mangroves. To make our investigation richer, a trip has been planned to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. With this trip, the children will see first-hand what a mangrove looks like, the non-living and living things can be found in them, and how we can take action to protect them. Our adventure is set for April 15th, Monday. Because Sungei Buloh is at the other end of Singapore, we would like to depart from campus at around 8:45am to make it to the mangrove by 9:30am, just before it becomes too hot. Well spend around an hour to an hour and a half there before we head back to school at approximately 10:45am. We will be back just in time for lunch. We will need 2-3 parent volunteers for this trip. Students are to come to school in their PE kits with a hat, water bottle, snack in a small bag. The children will still have swimming that day so please ensure that they bring their swimmers to school, as well as clothes to change into after swimming. The cost for this trip is $12 to cover the tour, entrance and bus fees. Please fill out the attached forms and return by Wednesday, April 10th. Thank you.
