Catapult Force

When a wire carrying a current is placed inside a magnetic field, the wire experiences a force. The force is due to the interaction between the magnetic field produced by the current in the wire and the magnetic field of the permanent magnet.

Factors Affecting the Magnitude of Force on a Current-carrying Conductor

Strength of the magnetic field
Stronger magnetic field, stronger the force on the conductor

The magnitude of the current

Larger the current, stronger the force on the conductor

The length of the conductor in the magnetic field

Longer the conductor, stronger the force on the conductor

When a direct current flows through the coil, a pair of turning forces act on the coil. These turning forces, F are produced by the catapult field between the two permanent magnets. Factors to affect the speed of rotation of motor
Increasing the current Increasing the strength of the magnetic field Increasing the number of turns
