Diversity

& Multicultural Curriculum Approaches

Learning is most successful in an environment that promotes fairness and

cooperation. Students who are comfortable in their classrooms are not fearful of the unknown. The relationships that I establish with my students will be free from bias and provide my students with a feeling of inclusion and acceptance. I am fully aware of the cultural differences that the classroom can provide, however I will strive to use those differences as part of the learning environment giving students an opportunity to apply their backgrounds to our classroom activities and projects. It is my goal to encourage my students to apply their experiences to their work and to solicit input from their classmates that might provide information that can heightens their classroom experiences. With an environment of inclusions, students will have the opportunity to be themselves in my classroom and not be judged by the color of their skin nor the level of their academic achievement. My goal is to teach, enrich and enhance each of my students which I believe will set the tone as to how my classroom and the relationships within the classroom will be conducted.
