DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this lesson is for students to understand and learn the process and tips of researching and securing employment.

1. Why is it important for students to strategically look for employment? 2. What searching tips are important for conducting a job search?
OBJECTIVES

1. Students will be able to use online databases, web-based sources, and other information sources to retrieve information by using the computer to conduct online searches for potential employment with a 95 percent degree of accuracy. (BCS-BE-7d) 2. Students will be able to identify traditional and online sources of employment information by completing an Internet search worksheet of 7 potential employers to organize their job searches with a 95 percent degree of accuracy. (BCS-BE-38a) 3. Students will be able to apply the decision making process to a business situation by reviewing their internet search worksheet and selecting five potential employers with a 90 percent degree of accuracy. (BCS-BE-21c)

CLOSURE/SUMMARY: Instructional Strategies: Student will select 5 positions from their Whos Hiring Worksheet of potential positions desired. Student will complete on notebook paper and turn in to teacher the short essay quiz answer: Which is the best method you should use to job search and why?? ( Include 3 reasons why/examples) EVALUATION/ASSESSMENT: Instructional Strategies: INFORMAL: Students will write their name on the back of their Whos Hiring worksheet and submit to teach for 20 participation points. (ticket-out-the-door) FORMAL: Students will turn in their short essay quiz to receive 25 quiz points to go towards their overall quiz grade. 5points for answering the question, 5 points for giving a reason why, and 5 points each for reason why/examples.
