Blanca Robles Week 6 I choose to use a narrative text.

The example I choose was a book called The School Story. The following is an excerpt from the book. Natalie snorted. Yeah, like my mom is going to take it to her boss and say, Guess what? My daughter wrote this wonderful little book. And then her boss goes, Gee, thats great--- lets pay her a bunch of money and start printing her book right away! Get real, Zoe. You dont know anything about publishing. Organizational strategies students might use include: Directed Reading/Thinking Activity (DR/TA) Probable Passages Story Frame Story Grammar/ Maps Character maps The graphic organizer I choose is called a Story Prediction Form. This form allows students to pick events, or the teacher can pick the event, and then predict what will happen next. This way, students are more engaged in the book and enjoy reading it more. The way I would use it is to read the book as a class. After certain spots in the book, which I think are important, I would stop and have the students fill in the event and what they think will happen next. After they fill it in we would continue with the story and the students will find out whether their predictions were right or wrong. The students could also predict the ending to the story. I could also extend it and allow the students come up with an ending of their own if they dont like the original ending. My I think that Geisel will turn out to be her teacher or somebody she knows.

Event from the Story Zoe just gave Ms. the Event Prediction about Clayton Natalies manuscript. Ms Clayton smiled and told the girls See you tomorrow.

My I think that Ms. Clayton will like the manuscript and be the grown up that was needed for the club.
