The Director of the Office of Student Success (OSS) will serve as the lead for the departments student success and transition efforts. Through analysis of internal data and external factors, the Director of OSS will create strategies and campaigns to help improve overall collaboration with stakeholder departments, student transition initiatives, departmental goals, and student satisfaction assessment tools. In addition, process and procedures will be developed to help improve overall communication and student satisfaction with University student success efforts. This dynamic individual will be high energy, student engaged and a unique problem solver; assuring the student experience results in quality education, a high level of student satisfaction and expanded life opportunities. Duties and Responsibilities Administrative/Budget Develop and administer the Office of Student Success departmental budget. Plan, develop, recommend and manage budgets for OSS programs that include, but are not limited to, Midwest Orientation, Arrival Weekend and Freshmen Seminar. Develop departmental policies and procedures.

Running head: BUSINESS SIMULATION II Prepare monthly and annual departmental reports. Provide weekly reports to the Vice-President of Enrollment, Management and Student Affairs. Networking/ Representation/Communication Establish and maintain liaisons with faculty and administrative staff. Coordinate assigned activities with other divisions and departments to ensure that services for students, faculty and staff are provided. Represent Office of Student Success staff at meetings and conferences. Attend departmental and university meetings and serve on university and divisional committees -

Provide information about programs and procedures to faculty, staff and students through outreach programs, in-service training, educational materials, presentations, promotional, and assessment activities.

Coordinate assessments and appropriately communicate results to the campus community.

Programming and Initiatives Develop and implement programs that serve community and student needs. Work with the Department of Student Affairs to implement and coordinate initiatives and programs that facilitate a successful student transition to the university using tools such as Early Alert and Mapworks. Create strategies and campaigns to foster overall student satisfaction through use of assessments and in-depth analysis.

Running head: BUSINESS SIMULATION II Oversee and coordinate the Midwest Orientation Program with the assistance of the Assistant Director for Orientation Initiatives and a Graduate Assistant. Oversee and coordinate the Midwest Arrival Weekend with the assistance of the Assistant Director for Student Activities Initiatives and a Graduate Assistant. -

Oversee and Coordinate the Midwest Freshmen Seminar series with the assistance of the Assistant Director for Student Transition Initiatives and a Graduate Assistant.

Supervision Supervision of the following Office of Student Success staff includes, but is not limited to the following: o Assistant Director of Orientation Initiatives o Assistant Director of Student Activity Initiatives o Assistant Director of Student Transition Initiatives o Three Graduate Assistants o Two full-time clerical coordinators

o Two undergraduate student staff employees Goal Setting Plan, develop, and achieve goals to enhance student success in accordance with University and division goals. Other Duties as Assigned Perform other duties as assigned.

Limited lifting and carrying items up to 10lbs such as boxes of t-shirts. Traveling between buildings two through three times per week (this is subject to change). Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, and mouse.

Minimum: Masters degree in higher education administration, educational counseling or related field. Three to four years experience in student success programming, student activities, admissions or related field. Preferred: Ph.D in Higher Education Administration, and four years experience in student success programming, student activities, admissions or related field Evaluation The Director of the Office of Student Success will be evaluated annually on performance, fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities listed above, and additional criteria as deemed appropriate by the Vice-President of Enrollment, Management and Student Affairs.

Admissions Counselor This individual will serve as a member of the search committee for the Director of the Office of Student Success as they will represent the Midwest Office of Admissions who works closely with the Director on programming and initiatives designed towards improving and maintaining orientation and recruitment efforts. This individual will understand the needs of both the Admissions and Office of Student Success departments as they pertain to recruitment and orientation, and the skills, qualifications and abilities desired in a Director candidate in this capacity. In addition, this individual will serve as source of information to the candidates.
