Class Goals and Objectives


Check articulation in The Eye Opener Work on syncopation Score for The Eye Opener Conducting Baton

Materials

Procedures
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Teacher will greet band Students will then do a warm-up with director The warm-up will include different articulations on a Bb concert scale. Students will start playing at letter C in their music and get a couple of run throughs in Teacher will then explain how to articulate each accent mark Students will go back and play that same section again Once students have got this section to an acceptable level then we will move on to syncopation Students will work with syncopation in that same section because this section is all unison rhythms so this will really help because its and exercise the whole group can do

Assessment of Goals and Objectives


Assessment will be done through listening to how well the students in the band can do Accent marks in their music and ask them questions at the end on how to do each accent mark and listen to their syncopation.

Follow up Lessons
Work more with different types of articulation marks throughout their music and learn to feel the syncopation more

Check syncopation and swing rhythms Work on syncopation Score for Be Nimble, Jack Conducting Baton

9. Teacher will greet band 10. Students will then do a warm-up with director 11. The warm-up will include different articulations on a Bb concert scale. 12. Students will start playing from the beginning and once they get so a section that has syncopation in it we will stop if need be to correct it 13. Teacher will then explain how to what syncopation is 14. Students will go back and play that same section again 15. Once students have got this section to an acceptable level then we will move on to getting notes down since this is a note heavy piece 16. Students will work with syncopation and notes in that same section because this section is all unison rhythms so this will really help because its and exercise the whole group can do

Assessment will be done through listening to how well the students in the band can do syncopation in their music and ask them questions at the end on how to do syncopation and listen to make sure they are hitting all of the notes correctly.
