ThisProjectCharteroutlinesthepurpose,objectives,andscopeoftheLATCAPMProgram project. ThepurposeofaProjectCharteris:

toprovideanunderstandingoftheproject,thereasonitisbeingconductedandits justification toestablishearlyonintheprojectthegeneralscope Toestablishtheprojectmanagerandhisorherauthoritylevel

TheProjectCharterwillbereviewedbythevolunteerteamandapproved.Thefinal approvalwillbetheprincipalofLATCA.

Objective
Theobjectiveofthisprojectistoimplementaschoolstorethatisreadytosellsuppliessuch asnotebooks,pens,pencils,bindersetc.whenclassstartsinAugust2008,withenough inventorytolastthroughthefirstfullweekofclasses.

Scope
Thescopeoftheprojectincludestheactivitieslistedbelow.

Determinewhatsupplieswillbesoldinthestore Establishcompetitivepricesfortheschoolsupplies Sourceandsecuresupplyvendors Establishmarketing,procurement,operationsandanyothernecessary departments/teams.

Assumptions
Onlyschoolrelatedsupplieswillbesoldinthestore. SuppliescustomerswillbetheLATCAstudentbodyandfaculty LATCAstudentswillmanagetheprojectandberesponsibleforongoingoperations. Studentswillbeallottedtimetomeetonaregularbasisforplanning. AstoresponsorfromtheLATCAfacultyorstaffwillbeassignedtomentorstudentsandtoprovideoversight. StorehoursofoperationwillbeapprovedbytheLATCAstafforstoresponsor. Noconstructionwillberequiredforthestore. Supplydeliverieswillbearrangedorthestoresponsorwillpickthemupwithstudents. Studentswillbeempoweredtocontactvendorsfororderplacementandinquiriesviatelephone.

Constraints
Studentavailabilitytomeetforprojectplanningislimitedtoschoolhours. LATCAstudentswillberesponsibleforthecreationandoperationofthestore. Softwareisnotavailableforprojectplanningandcontrol. Computerandinternetaccesswillbelimited.

BusinessNeedorOpportunity
ThegoalofthisprojectistoprovideincomeforLATCAwhilesupplyingnecessaryitemstostudentsand facultyatcompetitiveprices.Theschoolstorewillbeaconveniencetostudentssincenecessarysupplieswill

beavailableoncampus.Thiswillhelpstudentstolearntomanagetheirpersonalsuppliesandminimizeclass disruptionforstudentswhodonthavenecessarysupplieswiththem.

PreliminaryCostfortheProject
Theprocurementteamwillassembleaproposalbasedonexpectedcostsforreviewbytheschoolprincipal, Mrs.Roper.
