Laundry
Primary Duties :
To report to the Executive Housekeeper and Assistant Executive
Housekeeper on the running of the Laundry Department daily.
To relieve the Linen Supervisor during his or her absence.
To supervise and direct the Laundry personnel in any job
assignments.
To assign duties, work load according to demand and work force.
Maintain the highest level of guest satisfaction through carrying out
quality control tests of working processes, survey to improve
efficiency, reduce costs and produce better services.
To perform administration duties and other special assignment
given by the Executive Housekeeper and Assistant Executive
Housekeeper.
Job Description of
Laundry Manager
To ensure the Laundry area is kept clean and tidy at all
times.
To ensure that staff understand the safety measures in the
Laundry.
To work closely with Linen Supervisor for the needs of linen
and uniform and to cooperate, coordinate with other
department as required.
To have knowledge and understanding of the operational
procedures for all laundry equipments
To have good liaison with Engineering department and plan
the maintenance program well in advance.
Handling complains and problem solving.
To interacts as appropriate with guest as well as individuals
outside of the hotel including supplies, contractor, labor
relation representative and competitor.
To carry out monthly inventory on supplies, chemicals,
equipments and etc.
Job Description of
Laundry Manager
To be responsible of the cost effective control - must have
knowledge of the exact cost of the supplies and use of
manpower efficiently.
Inspects Guest Laundry, Dry Cleaning and Press work and
working area on daily basis, to ensure optimum quality of
work, prompt pick up delivery of garments, and cleanliness.
Monitors control on wash formulas, to ensure a high linen
standard, at lowest possible costs and minimum of tensile
strength loss.
Processes four laundry test pieces per year and depending
on result makes corrective action on wash formulas.
Develop standard operating procedures, as well as
production and quality standard.
Checks constantly all laundry and dry cleaning equipment,
to ensure that machines are kept clean, properly
maintained and in efficient operating condition.
Prepares maintenance requisitions and maintains a follow
up file, to ensure that equipment does not fall into
disrepair.
Job Description of
Laundry Manager
Schedule working times and optimizes laundry/dry
cleaning and finishing processes, to ensure maximum
utilization of water/energy.
Proposes/implements in coordination with the Chief
Engineer, possible energy savings in the laundry and dry
cleaning department.
Assists Purchasing and Housekeeping in analysis and
selection of new linen items.
Control and analyses, on an on-going basis,
departmental costs, to ensure performance against
budget.
Prepares the laundry and dry cleaning department
budget and goals program.
Prepares a monthly laundry and dry cleaning production
summary report.
Conducts such functions interviewing, hiring,
performance appraisal, counseling, and dismissal if
necessary, to ensure appropriate staffing and
productivity. Consults with Executive Housekeeper or
delegate as appropriate, in performing these duties.

Laundry Manager
Established and maintains effective employee relation.
Identifies training needs, develops formal training plants
and implements training sessions.
Reviews price structure for guest laundry and dry cleaning
(outside where applicable) constantly, to ensure maximum
profitability.
Keep aware of trends, new methods, chemicals, textiles
and equipment in the laundry and dry cleaning industry,
through trade magazines and by visiting other plants.
To be familiar with Laundry Policies and Procedure, Job
Description and Employee Hand book.
To carry out efficiently instructions or assignments given by
the Executive Housekeeper or his/her delegate.
