Structures attached to the pelvic surface of the sacrum

1) the sacrum 2) Piriformis muscle

Structures related to the pelvic surface of the sacrum

1) Ala of the sacrum 2) lumbosacral trunk - Obturator nerve - Sympathetic trunk - Iliolumbal artery

Structures passing = 1- dorsal rami of upper 4 sacral nerves 1- branches from the lateral sacral vessels

Structures passing = 1- ventral rami of upper 4 sacral nerves 1- branches from the lateral sacral vessels

Sacral canal 1- dura matter & arachnoid matter 2- filum terminale 3- CSF 4- roots of sacral & coccygeal nerves 5- branches of median & lateral sacral arteries 6- internal vertebral plexus of veins 7- loose areolar CT ( epidural fats)

Sacral hiatus Filum terminale - 5th pair of sacral nerves - Coccygeal nerve

Ischial spine attachment: Sacrospinous ligament and coccygeus muscle

Ischial tubrosity attachment: Sacrotuberous ligament

Origin of obturator internus muscle

Origin of levator ani muscle ( in between the two points, the white line extends )

Line representing the pudendal canal ( 1 inches above the ischial tubrosity ) for passage of: 1- pudendal nerve 2- internal pudendal artery and its vena commitants

The greater sciatic notch: ( structures passing : 1- piriformis 2- superior gluteal nerve & vessles ( above the piriformis ) 3- inferior gluteal nerve & vessels (below the piriformis) 4- pudendal nerve, internal pudendal vessels & nerve to obturator internus

The lesser sciatic notch: ( structures passing : 1- tendon of obturator internus 2- pudendal nerve, internal pudendal vessels & nerve to obturator internus

1) The ovary 2) suspensory ligament - Ovarian ligament - mesovarium

1) The uterus 2) paraortic lymph nodes ( the fundus+upper part of the body)

1) The uterine tube (the infundibulm) 2) Mainly by the ovarian artery + uterine artery

1) The spermatic cord 2) internal spermatic fascia (from fascia transversalis) -Cremastric ms & fascia
(from the internal oblique ms)

- External spermatic fascia


(from the external oblique ms)

1) The vas deferens (ampulla of the vas) 2) Artery of the vas (from the inferior vesical)

1) The left kidney 2) The psoas major muscle
