The Final Return to Canada Revenue Agency
The due date for filing the deceased final return is usually: April 30th of the following year, for taxpayers who die during the period from January 1st to October 31st of the taxation year; and Six months after the date of death, for taxpayers who die in November and December of the Taxation year. A final return includes income up to the date of death. various elective returns can also be lied to report this income in the most advantageous way. A trust return includes income after the date of death and is due 90 days after the end of the trust year. A trust year can be for up to one year after the date of death. Earned income will not be taken into consideration for determining your RRSP contribution room unless it is reported on a tax return. It is important to note that taxpayers under the age of 18 can accumulate RRSP at the present time. It is therefore important for them to report their income from sum mer jobs on a tax return even though there may be no other reason to do so.

Tuition Carry Forwards

Students who can claim tuition/ education amounts may not get a tax refund by fil ing a tax return if they did not have any tax deducted and source. However, they still have to file a return with the relevant information entered on their Schedule 11 if they want to transfer the unused amount to a spruce or parent or they want to carry it forward to a future year. With the cost of tuition rising, students can build up a substantial carry forward amount during the years they are in school. they will benefit from this when they begin working and will be glad they bothered to file tax returns during the years in question.

Town of Nipawin Community Update

Nipawin Citizens on Patrol

The Nipawin Citizens On Patrol Program is actively seeking volunteers! The program has been in existence for decades in the Nipawin area but the program hasnt always looked the same as it does today but has over the years evolved from such names as neighbourhood watch and guardian angels to the current C.O.P.P that we have today! With over twenty members the Nipawin COPP has established a strong foothold in the community and is very serious about playing a key role in crime prevention. The Nipawin Citizens On Patrol serve as the eyes and ears for the Nipawin RCMP and have direct contact with the police throughout their regular patrols and also have a variety of equipment to use to assist in their duties. Its an exciting and rewarding way to give back to the community. Anyone can get involved and in fact we want YOU! Applications can be picked up at the RCMP detachment there is a criminal record check for all volunteers. Members meet monthly to discuss the issues and direction of the program.

Also residents of Nipawin may visit the RCMP detachment to register their home or property to be patrolled by members of the Nipawin COPP at no charge when they are out of town. Members of the Nipawin COPP also perform business checks. If you would like more information on any of these items please call 862-0010.

New Development South of Nipawin

The Town of Nipawin Economic Development Business & Planning Department is pleased to announce that construction is now underway for the new Co-op Fertilizer and Card Lock South of Nipawin. The site is located across from the Bunge Canola Processing Plant and will be accessible for large units. Pineland Co-op has long been dedicated to the needs of it's rural customers. Included in the plans for the new Fertilizer and Card Lock site are two 90,000 liter tanks, one 50,000 liter tank with regular gas, dyed and clear diesel, six pumps and three satellite pumps which are used by semis and other big trucks to fill the off side tanks.
