* - P01 maybe substituted for by P02 for painting light support structural, small diameter pipe and fittings around critical equipment, machined surfaces, area of valve stems, and instruments where open blast cleaning is not feasible or practical due to potential for damage to the adjacent equipment. Where practical, the prime and intermediate coats for the P01 system should be shop applied. Use epoxy zinc rich primer for bare steel touch up. ** - This system to be used for repair or touchup of galvanized surfaces and for coating of all exposed threads on galvanized pipe and conduit. - When pipe is not already galvanized, it must be galvanized according to System P05 prior to painting.
