Safe School Action Plan for HAWAIIAN ELEMENTARY School 2013 - 2014
Goal: Ensure inviting and safe schools that promote student learning.
STRATEGIES 1. Follow all district policies and procedures regarding: Child abuse reporting procedures Disaster procedures, routine and emergency Suspension, expulsion, and mandatory expulsion Teacher notification of dangerous students Sexual harassment policy District dress code Crime reporting Volunteer registration Safety procedures 2. Inform and consistently remind parents and students of safe ingress (coming to) and egress (going home) to and from school. Reminders in Sept., Dec., and Mar. 3. Conduct fire drills monthly, lockdown drills during each trimester, and emergency/disaster drills twice yearly. 4. Inform parents and students of school rules and progressive discipline plan. Goal: Ensure inviting and safe schools that promote student learning.
STRATEGIES 5. Implementation of schools incentive and progressive discipline plan. 6. Require all visitors (parents, volunteers, community members) to sign in at the office, wear a visitor badge, and follow school rules. 7. Conduct Student Study Team meetings. 8. Provide educational programs and assemblies for students (i.e. STAR, conflict resolution, peer leadership, Red Ribbon Week, Safety Bear, PIP , counseling, etc.).
