ArwaFarrag&ShanjidaAkhter ZanderLyvers GlobalHistoryPd.6 April30,2013 AdProposal Objective TheobjectiveofthisproposalistoportraythattheIsraeliPalestinianCrisisexpressesmany differentpoliticalviews.Thiscrisishasbeenabuildupofconflictsovertheyearsduetotheinfluenceof imperialism.Imperialismhastranscendedthelivesofmanypeopleinmanycountriesoftheworld includedtheMiddleEast.TheMiddleEasthasalwaysbeenthelocationwithaplethoraofnatural resources.Thenativesofthesecountriesusedthemtoindustrializetheirnationsandcreateatrade balancebetweencountries.However,thesenaturalresourcescausednegativeimpactstothesenations aswell.ManyimperialistcountriestookadvantageoftheseMiddleEasterncountriessuchasPalestine. PowercountriessuchasBritainandFrancegavelandtotheJewsasanexcusetokeepaneyeonthe naturalresourcesofPalestine.

Theywantedtogiveofftheimpressionthattheywerehelpingthem,when truthfullytheywerekeepingtheirowndesiresinmind. TheonlywaymypartnerandIwereabletoputasideourpersonalthoughtsonthiscrisiswas throughanalyzingprimarysourcesanddissectingthemeaningofeachone.Wewantedtocreateanad thatwouldrepresenteverythingwelearnedfromthesedocumentsbutinaclearwayinorderforthe observertounderstandthemessageweweretryingtoinfuse.Notonlydoesthisadquestionthe observersbeliefsandpriorknowledgebutitalsorequiresthemtoquestionthesocietytheyliveinand

thepoliticalinputtheirnationhasonthiscrisis. Thegovernmentofeverynationsendoutadsthatcompelamessageorwayofthoughtthatthey wanttheirpeopletodevelop.Thiscreatesconflictbecausepeoplearesupposedtohavetheirown opinionthattheystickto.But,ifeveryonehasthesameopinion,thereisnoroomforadvancingand solvingproblems.Byhavingdifferentideas,peoplewithdifferentviewsareabletocooperateand developacompromisethatsatisfiesbothsides. Thisadshowsdifferentpoliticalpeoplewhoinfluencedthecrisistowhatitistoday.Although thisproblemstartedmanyyearsago,thepeopleintheadweretheprimefigureswhocontributedto howtheproblemdeveloped.Itshowshowonedisagreementcancauseagreatconflictbetweentwo nationsthatcanlastyears.GreatBritainhadagreatimpactontheproblemsthatburstbetweenIsrael andPalestineWewantedtoportraythatthroughtheadbyshowingBritaintakingcontrolofallthe politicalleadersandcontrollingthemintodoingeverythingthathewants.Wedemonstratedthisthrough marionettesandapuppeteer.Weportrayedthedifferentdialoguesandviewsontheproblemsthrough thedialoguebubbles.Astheobserverviewsthisad,theywillcreatetheirownvisionoftheproblemand decidewhatsidetheywanttobeon.

AsAmericancitizens,wearegivensubjectiveinformationfromnewsandhistorywehave learnedovertheyears.TheUnitedStatescurrentlysupportsIsraelwhichinfluencesAmericansto supportIsraelaswell.AccordingtoCNNcontributor,AriFleischer,theUnitedStatessupportsIsrael becauseitisoneofthefirstdemocraticnationslocatedintheMiddleEastthatfollowedintheU.Ss

footsteps.InarecentstudybythePewResearchCenter,50%ofadultssaidtheysympathizemore withIsraelinitsdisputethanwiththePalestinians.Just10%sympathizemorewiththePalestinians, whileaboutasmany(13%)volunteeredthattheysympathizewithneitherside.1Thisshowshow althoughmanyAmericanstrytobeobjectivewhenlearningaboutcurrentworldissues,itisdifficult whenyournationisonesided.ThereforethisproposalisaimedatAmericansingeneral,toopenup theirperspectivesabouttheconflicttoday.ThisadwillhopefullyhelpAmericanstocometogetherin ordertocreatepeacesolutionsratherthananalyzingtheproblemthroughblurredlens. Additionally,thisproposalistargetedtowardsteensaswellasbystandersinorderforthemto questionwhatisgoingonintheworldaroundthem.Manypeoplearegivenbiasedinformationonthe IsraeliPalestinianconflictduetothedifferentviewsthatsurroundtheproblem.Manypeoplecant trulyestablishtheirpersonalopiniononthesituationbecausemostoftheinformationisangledforthe readertothinkacertainway.Butforthisad,wewanttheobservertoanalyzeitandkeepanopenand objectiveeye.Bydoingso,theobserverwillbeabletodissecttheproblemandrealizewhateffectit hadonthepeoplewholivedinthisareayearsagoaswellashowitcontinuestoimpactthepeoplewho livetheretoday. Issue Oneofthebiggestcomplicationsofthisconflictisthedifferentpowersthatclashedtogether. OnevividexamplewasthedisputeoverlandrightstocontroltheSuezCanal.TheCanalseparatedthe bordersbetweenEgyptandIsrael.ItconnectedtheMediterraneanandRedSea.Italsohada significantimpactontheworldtraderouteswhichiswhyimperialistnationssuchasBritainandFrance
