    An Illustrated Talk on Levees


    Living with and Maintaining Our Levees Safety and Flood Protection Mr. Scott Michalak from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, will give a presentation to the general public on levees: how they are constructed, why they are built, and how they are maintained.

    Mr. Michalak is the Chief of the Geotechnical Water Resources Branch, for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District. He serves as the District Dam and Levee Safety Officer and continues to be an active participant in the Dam and Levee Safety Community within the Division and nationally in the Corps of Engineers. Mr. Michalak will answer questions pertaining to flood control, the state of the Northampton dike, and issues pertaining to storm water control currently before the City of Northampton.
